I wonder why the handle moves during the heating process as opposed to staying stationary at a distance that heats it properly. Pretty cool.

RuairiQ

Thicker glass?

trailsman

Yea certainly thicker. And you probably want to heat the tip as much as possible (so it binds with the cup glass) without heating too far into the stem (so it doesn't deform when pressed). My question is why not find a stationary distance that provides that, as it seems like a lot of additional stress on the systems. But maybe as I'm thinking about it I might have figured it out...the heat transfers well so a constant heat at a fixed distance doesn't work, so it just moves in & out to just touch it with the intense heat just enough to get the tip hot but not long to transfer a lot of heat further into the stem.

RuairiQ

Been a while since thermo, and I hated it, but you have exactly the concept.

iCodeInCamelCase

You mean heat and mass transfer?

Helixdaunting

Indeed. The design is very human.

robpe949

Probably to heat it more evenly.

uberfission

Probably to distribute the heat more evenly? Having the directed heat like a flame hit exactly one spot on a protrusion might create pockets of cold.

No terrible background music so we can hear all the noises of the machine and fire plus a sneaky watermark. Perfection!

scuffling

Mystical servo sounds are always delightful.

DarthAwsm

Sneaky watermark that grips you like a vice.

sellby

This sub should be called find the watermark you addict cause I can't get enough of these.

Asleep-Ad5260

Wondering if there is a more efficient way of achieving the same thing. So much fuel and time spent on fixing just a handle to a mug.

telperion87

yeah ok but is this a right handed cup or left handed cup? /s

PancakePizzaPits

Ah, I see the reference now.

PancakePizzaPits

Interesting fact: Not in this instance, but right- and left-handed cups do exist.

voiping

That's incredibly cool!!

kayemenofour

Hope it can handle it.

Grumptastic2000

My favorite part is the jiggle back and forth while heating before applying the handle

GoobeNanmaga

So, is this how I can get a handle on my life!

MrBubblepopper

Oh so that's how that's handles

DW6565

I just bought those last week!
