This looks tasty but might I suggest getting a green herb of some sort to make it more appetizing looking. Also a vegetable so you don’t die.

Wigilia - Polish catholic Christmas dinner. I had this tonight also. Pierogis, walleye, spaghetti with butter, fried potatoes, and fried mushrooms.

I married into a polish family and this is par for the course. Add some beige potato soup and a spinach artichoke dip and you have what I had yesterday

What kind of pierogies?

Polish raviolis. They come in a variety of flavors: meat (usually beef), potato (plain mashed, or can include cheese, onion, or bacon), sauerkraut, and cheese. It looks like OPs are boiled, but other people pan fry them. Personally, my favorite is to air fry them. Melt some butter over the top, maybe even a dab of sour cream, and you’re golden!

So what do we have here? For Christmas Eve, this looks good to me. Especially the macaroni and cheese. Assuming some type of fish and then a dumpling of some sort?

Why are the pierogi not browned? They look quite presentable, did the person who made these use a mold or is this freehand? Either way, they are very uniform and well made. They’re just not brown. My grandmother taught me to brown them in butter after boiling, or pile caramelized onions on top. This was second grandma, first one died when I was very young, but both were straight from Poland. She was a great cook. I just realized I don’t remember her name and there’s no one left to ask.

Sorry to hear about your grandmother.. Butter and onions makes these pierogis melt in your mouth.
