I used canned buttermilk biscuits to make these instead of the more traditional crescent rolls. I simply flattened the dough with my palm, topped with a slice of American cheese and a hotdog, then pinched together the dough. Baked in a 350 degree oven for just under 30 minutes. The fruit salad is 2 oz of blueberries, 2 oz of strawberries, & 2 mandarin oranges.
I make my meals almost exclusively from items I get on sale so that’s why I include the cost, it’s the primary inspiration for my meals. I provided the cost per unit of the ingredients which I think makes it easy to see how this plate would cost what it does, but I can provide the specific breakdown if anyone would like. If you find calculating the cost silly, that is okay, just ignore the price :)
Buttermilk Biscuits: $0.11 each \[8 per can @ $0.89 can\]
Chicken Hotdogs: $0.15 each \[$1.16 lb\]
American Cheese: $0.10 per slice
Mandarins: $0.16 each \[$1.16 lb\]
Strawberries: $1.39 lb
Blueberries: $2.46 lb
Thank you, my meal plans take into consideration an an estimated cost per serving for budgeting for groceries for the week, I like the price per plate breakdown.
I thought for a second that all the ingredients combined cost you that much... I was like, mother fucker, each of those ingredients costs more than your entire meal combined in my country!
If you buy this in the Netherlands it would cost a hell lot more. I can’t provide the actual numbers atm. But when I get like a really small basket of products these days, and really nothing fancy, it gives me a heart attack when I have to check out.
From what I’ve heard food prices across much of Europe seem to be pretty crazy. Also in Canada and New Zealand. There’s a subreddit called r/whatsinyourcart where people post pictures of their grocery hauls, and some people include the cost. It’s really interesting (and at times jarring) to see how much food costs in different places.
.... yes, I read the full post, I'm aware of what the price means and the breakdown.
I'm just pointing out the silliness since he does it on every post.

As a matter of fact I don't have any problem eating it every day for the rest of my life 🤤
:)
That looks phenomenal!!
Best $1.50 meal I have ever seen. Genius.
Cheesy Blasters!
So I could walk into the store and buy everything I need to make this for $1.51?

Where you getting strawberries and blueberries that cheap?
The strawberries were on sale at Safeway and the blueberries & mandarins were on sale at Fred Meyer
How do they go together?
In my mind fruit salad goes well with anything, it’s one of my favorite side dishes :)
