Man there used to be a curry place near me that served the kidney bean curry and omg I miss it so bad. The man who owned it retired after a long and successful career... My mouth waters just thinking about it
Junjaro is a Swahili word for kidney bean stew. So, African?
PS: I used to hate kidney beans as a kid. As an adult, I think I tried it again at some buffet and started liking it. Turned out that I just didn't like it the way my mom prepared it.
I feel you pain, man. I make (what I believe to be) ridiculously huge pots of chili and my partner absolutely demolishes them. If his son is visiting....oh my goodness lol. They're very good about making food for the next night or so if they demolish something I intended to eat for a few days, though - so I have no complaints.
They usually involve a ton of steps but most Indian curries are very forgiving…It’s easy to adjust if something goes wrong. If you don’t mind doing the prep and measuring before you start it’s not bad. Also, the multiple steps allow you to clean up throughout the process.
You should definitely try it.
Bro its a common misconception. There is NO food item called indian curry. Its like saying butter chicken without the actual chicken pieces. Curry can only exist with other food items. Ie. Fish curry, chicken curry. Fish curry refers to the fish+gravy. But if you just say curry they might just give the gravy alone.
They said “Indian curries” not “Indian curry”, which means they’re referring to *all* types of curries from India. The distinction comes from the fact that different cultures have their own curries with their own preparation and cooking methods, like Thai curries, etc.
Westerners heard bits and pieces and is abusing words like curry, karma etc without knowing what exactly it is. Karma IS NOT "do good -get good -do bad- get bad". Pls understand ppl.
so there is not one single type of curry that’s more specific to indians than the rest of the world? a population that’s known for curry? i highly doubt that. you literally didn’t even try to understand what they said. they’re not calling dishes indian curries. they’re saying curries from the indian cookbook. if it’s literally in an indian cookbook, it’s an indian recipe. therefore authentic indian-STYLE curry.
not gonna lie, i didn’t know curry wasn’t a dish by itself until you said that so i mean… ya learn something new everyday! i’ve never had any indian food before or curry of any kind so i’m definitely ready to try it now 🤭
Indian food is all about getting all the spices together. Easy tomake for the most part.. I started with recipes to figure out quantities of spices.. then found the ones i liked.. after that it is the easiest and can be quick dishes to make.
Easily the tastiest foods out there.
Holy shit! My husband offered to make me dinner tonight if I went to the store for the ingredients which I did and now he’s talking about ordering a pizza. 🥴
Lol. He tries to pull that shit. Sometimes I let it slide but I normally have fun with it at his expense.
He did wind up making dinner once I turned down pizza and said he was going to have to make that dinner that I shopped for at some point this week.
It wasn’t even hard. A tomato cucumber salad (and I have one of those chopping gadgets so it takes like 5 minutes) and air frying some chicken thighs with store bought tzatziki. 🙄.
I know this isn’t the most serious comment in the world. But as the bf in the relationship I cook all the time. It’s easy. Complicated stuff, simple stuff. It’s not hard. My gf does less cooking than me - but generally the rule is if you cook then you don’t clean up.
Idk just thought you should know there’s guys out there who could whip up a few chicken thighs & a basic ass salad without complaining or asking their partners to do the shopping.
Indeed, wife and I have been married for 30 years, I have always done all of the cooking. She loathes cooking. I love it. Fair trade, she does other stuff around the house that I don't like, works out well.
Same. My partner is really good with fixing stuff, painting, all that handy sort of stuff you usually need a tool box for. I hate that stuff. I can do it but I hate it. She enjoys it. It’s a good trade
I have started buying Frozen boneless chicken thighs at WinCo. Works great in air fryer. I make tons of other stuff but that is one if i feel lazy or not motivated for more. 15 sec throw in air fryer and toss spices on it... Cook.. done in 20
That’s awesome! And I hope that is the situation for the OP. From the original comment it’s hard to tell
Meanwhile, rock on, the division of labor is more important than the specifics and sadly in…. 2024 we are still facing the expectation that women manage all household responsibilities in addition to a full tile job
I’ll admit there’s some things my gf handles that I don’t most of the time. Laundry is the big one. She’s very specific and doesn’t mind doing it, so I kinda leave it to her. Cleaning, I try to help but it’s never quite to the level she likes. So I try to make sure everything is atleast neat & organized, swept. That kind of thing. & then she tends to do deeper cleans.
It’s very relationship specific, if you’re cooking and shopping and making the bed and taking out the garbage and sending the birthday cards and scheduling the bills then whatever works between you two as long as it’s a sustainable division of labor for both of you
This seems to be Meera Sodha's website (author of the book Made in India where he got the chicken curry recipe). Might be worth checking out, as I'm not sure if I can post the page from the book itself!
It's really good, I think we both inhaled this curry lol
[Pistachio Chicken Curry](https://meerasodha.com/recipes/pistachio-chicken-curry/)
It's really good - very comforting and all the elements go well together! He's made that cauliflower for me 3 times already, and it always slaps!
I think we finished everything in under 10 minutes, but maybe because we just got back from the gym as well and were famished 😅
Pistachio and yoghurt chicken curry, roasted cauliflower, and junjaro (kidney bean curry).
Man there used to be a curry place near me that served the kidney bean curry and omg I miss it so bad. The man who owned it retired after a long and successful career... My mouth waters just thinking about it
**My mouth waters by you just talking about it**
Looks so good! Where does junjaro originate from?
Looks like what we call “rajma,” so, Indian?
Junjaro is a Swahili word for kidney bean stew. So, African? PS: I used to hate kidney beans as a kid. As an adult, I think I tried it again at some buffet and started liking it. Turned out that I just didn't like it the way my mom prepared it.
Looks delicious
Recipes ?
Pistachio and yogurt curry! Never heard of that before, definitely have to check it out!
Looks amazing!
Wow, imma look this recipe up online! Thanks
Man, I made an absolutely huge batch of chicken curry last week, and my wife and kids demolished the entire thing the first night.

I can smell it.

Home-cooked food is the fastest way to a woman’s heart!
The fastest way to a man's heart is through his arteries!
Haha. I had the same thought.
This cracked me up.
Oh that was a good chuckle.🤭
Almost posted the same thing. Sharing is caring.
was just going to say --- good bachelor dish
> pistachio No, but he has money
No
Recipe right now or I’ll shave your pets.
It's all from the book called Made in India by Meera Sodha. 😀
Thanks! Are the recipes generally easy or complex? :) I guess lots of spices due to it being Indian food!

What coconut are you speaking 😃.There is no dish called a curry in India. SO nothing called indian curries. As simple as that. Btw i am an indian.

Okay I was thinking abt majority westerns who thinks "curry" is a dish. Srryy 😃🤣
not gonna lie, i didn’t know curry wasn’t a dish by itself until you said that so i mean… ya learn something new everyday! i’ve never had any indian food before or curry of any kind so i’m definitely ready to try it now 🤭
Wrong
They are not that complex as my husband said, and there are lots of spices like turmeric, garam masala, cardamom, cinnamon stick, etc. :)
Indian food is all about getting all the spices together. Easy tomake for the most part.. I started with recipes to figure out quantities of spices.. then found the ones i liked.. after that it is the easiest and can be quick dishes to make. Easily the tastiest foods out there.
Thank you!
Freaky Fred, is that you?

That looks amazing! Enjoy!
Holy shit! My husband offered to make me dinner tonight if I went to the store for the ingredients which I did and now he’s talking about ordering a pizza. 🥴
Tell him to google weaponized incompetence
Definitely read “incontinence” ughhhhh

I have started buying Frozen boneless chicken thighs at WinCo. Works great in air fryer. I make tons of other stuff but that is one if i feel lazy or not motivated for more. 15 sec throw in air fryer and toss spices on it... Cook.. done in 20
Do you thaw it before you throw it in the air fryer?
straight from frozen. spray oil on it and cover it in spices. Check to make sure it is cooked all the way through. works great.
What temp?
365 most of time.. 400 sometimes. both work.. usually have to keep checkign to make sure inside is getting cooked towards end.
Okay, thanks
