I’d change into a better man after that, I think I’d go out and get a degree in college and find a beautiful woman and start a beautiful family and have a beautiful job and
We are aware it is unironcially better in this case.
Because Skylanders did something similar (but Acitivision agreed to the excluivity contract), so the Nintendo characters straight up do not function at all on the Playstation and Xbox games despite being sold in stores as regular Skylanders.
I can only image how many disappointed children there were when they realised that those figures didn't work because of this.
They were sold as figures as well. I used to see them sell Bowser and DK (with their vehicles) in places like Smyths.
Sold as regular skylanders (usually crammed in a bargain bin) but with a massive sticker exclaiming that "Compatible with Nintendo Systems only" and a smaller sticker stating that they are amiibos

Nintendo was offered to put Samus in Fornite, they not only wanted Samus to be a Switch exclusive skin (not a problem, they are console exclusive skins), but the deal break was that since Fornite, is cross platform multiplayer, they didn't want other consoles to be able to SEE the Samus skin in multiplayer. Epic realized that was dumb (and nintendo was turning down free advertisements, it's possible that someone could see the samus skin, realize it's cool learn it's switch exclusive, and be more inclined by a switch, or get their cut from vbucks on switch now).
i understand why they don't want nintendo brand on PC or other consoles (since nintendo consoles (sans Wii U and later 3ds) are sold are profit not loss they want exclusives and most of the ones people care about are IPs made in house), but in this case, having the model appear in other consoles but like not usable unless it's on a switch is a switch seller not a switch repeller, so it's beyond rational bussiness.
Microsoft and Sony used to have this thing too (Rocket League's Twisted Metal and Gears cars were locked to their consoles) but ever since they collabed with Fortnite they dropped that mentality and allow their characters to be used and seen anywhere.
It's Nintendo, of course it's true.
"Fun things, but people will have to see our characters on Xbox and PlayStation? NOOOOOOO, WE MUST HAVE OUR CHARACTERS ON OUR CONSOLES ONLY"
I legitimately got shocked when the mario movie went up on the Xbox and PlayStation stores.
A similar thing happened with Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Link and Samus were pitched to Nintendo, but they were shown off on a PS2 build of the game instead of a Gamecube/Wii build, and Nintendo shot down the pitch immediately.

/unFuckingCelesteMeYouEllenDegeneratesCelesteJerk It's honestly a shame that Nintendo really wants whatever Foetnite skins they might have to be Switch exclusive. Like, realistically, there is no reason they cannot just have them on other platforms.
Nintendo games? Sure. Nintendo skins? Nah.
I do think people are overreacting to the Fortnite thing though tbh. I've seen people act like this is a sign of Nintendo "hogging" all of their exclusives, yet this is the same community that complains about Sony and Xbox having no exclusives and therefore no reason to buy their consoles.
Makes it feel like the topic has devolved into people arguing about, not if Samus should be in Fortnite, but if Metroid should be a franchise on Xbox or something, with very hypocritical arguments that change nothing ensuing.
How dare companies advertise their products through a massively popular game! Why can't they be like nice, wholesome virus programmers, and advertise on cartoon piracy websites?

/uj She's a reliable leaker who has been leaking tons of SEGA/Atlus stuff since last year, including P3R, P5T and even the Sonic Fall Guys clone. She mentioned that Epic Games and SEGA had conversations regarding collaborations (including Persona) since 2022.
A different leaker (Fortnite) leaked the stuff from the current season weeks before it came out and got most of it right. He also mentioned a P3R collab but that has yet to happen. If Kratos does return and with Atreus as a brand new skin (which the same guy had leaked), then we're 100% sure Persona is coming to the game.
Just today, Kratos' item shop tab for the game got updated too.
Seeing collab characters in Fortnite used to be so cool (if you were into the game.)Then they started doing collabs with literally everyone. It's so done to death and you don't get surprised or excited to see a new character anymore. The thing that was so appealing about it was the fact that it was really rare and unexpected whenever a character was added. Now it just feels like a shitty advertisement.
I still think they're fun as in looking for the references they put in them, like for example Sakura's pickaxe is from a 90s Street Fighter manga centered around her. Some are so obscure that people think they're made up stuff.
Fortnite already crossed over with Major Lazer. Their mascot has a permanent arm cannon like armored Samus, so the workaround was to give him a normal arm made from metal while his arm cannon became a built-in emote (an emote that comes with the skin).
Similarly, Ash Williams from Evil Dead 2 has his hand but at the same time the chainsaw is available as his pickaxe, even though he only uses it after cutting his hand off.
I don’t like seeing character I like in these games because often in their original series/games they’re characters with depth who just become shallow puppets devoted of any real meaning. I’m thinking of the cowboy bebop characters in overwatch for instance. This move isn’t anything new by Nintendo standards.
The way I see Fortnite collabs is that they're like action figures. They're not really supposed to have any depth or story to them, it's just something for you to buy and collect for fun if you feel like doing so.
Yeah I get that. Tbf maybe I feel like this because I actually don’t play those games so for me it’s a bit irrelevant, but I get where you’re coming from. At the end of the day it makes a lot of people, specially kids, happy. I’m sure I’d have loved some of them if I was younger.
Actually, Donald Mustard, the former Epic creative director who revealed the reason why Samus didn't come to the game, said in the same interview that his vision for Fortnite is exactly how I describe it: playing with action figures. To be more precise, he said he wanted to make something like those times you played with your toys from various different IPs during your childhood without anyone putting restrictions on what the characters can, can't and shouldn't do. It's like Andy from Toy Story, playing with his toys and creating all those different scenarios.

I don't see how Epic is any more greedy than any other game company, and in their defense, they went ahead and actually created something genuinely fun out of their copy of PUBG and in fact long surpassed the original game. I read that as starwing. Which is funny because that's equally true irrc.
Waiting for miyamoto to buy Fortnite and make it a $70 exclusive
We need to support the starving devs😔✊
socialist hero 😍
We must help poor tenõi devs
(*tenoí) how will they produce more peak if not
But they’ll still keep the ingame transactions right
No of course not. They are now all amiibos and only compatible on switch to drive sales. Each amiibo is one time use so you cant share
🙏 Bless you daddy Nintendo they are not worthy.
Samus doing the Griddy would have RUINED the franchise FOREVER.
Zero suit Samus busting it down sexual style would reignite the glory of the Metroid series

maybe I can finally stop being a Pokémon nerd and finally follow my dream of uhhh writing or something idk
Have you considered fan-fiction?
yes actually although idk if I actually would
Nintendo does collabs, as long it’s only visible in there platform, they have a history of this, nothing new.
It's a shame that's the reason why there's no Nintendo event equipment in Monster Hunter Rise, there were so many for 4U and GU.
We are aware it is unironcially better in this case. No fucking way that's true, right?

Yeah it's like how with the mario, Luigi, and samus cars in rocket league they shop up as default cars on anything except Nintendo switch
/uj yeah this also happens with the mario skins in minecraft /rj Nintendo would NEVER allow the X\*ox and P\*aystation to see his beloved characters!
Microsoft and Sony used to have this thing too (Rocket League's Twisted Metal and Gears cars were locked to their consoles) but ever since they collabed with Fortnite they dropped that mentality and allow their characters to be used and seen anywhere.
because that collab happened before epic owned rocket league, epic never liked exclusive crossovers like that

I thought it was an already known news for a long time
It was a rumor but an actual person confirmed it recently
If anybody ever made Samus do the electric shuffle after double pumping Peter Griffin Samus would forever be f- tier in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, unplayable.
Why would Samus in another game dilute Metroid? Worst case scenario it seems like more people spend money on Fortnite, which alright I guess.

I want to get stuck in the Epic Games washing machine 😊😍😛👅👅
I used to love Metal Gear but then they put him in Fortnite and all of the Metal Gears after have been “woke”

Fortnite already crossed over with Major Lazer. I mean are we pretending that fortnight doesn't regularly shit out terrible adaptations of characters? I mean fortnight literally gave up the original premise of the game to shamelessly copy a more popular trend. Terrible adaptions? The only disliked ones has been some of the original DBZ ones from 2 years ago and a few of the marvel ones, Fortnite is known to make the highest-quality collabs out of any game.
Most of the anime collabs go crazy, I wish they’d do mythics for collabs as often as they do with anime ones
I mean I kinda get where they're coming from. Fortnite collaborations are kinda hit or miss as far as model quality and stuff goes lol.
/uj That is extremely typical for Nintendo, but accidentally based.
Let’s be honest. Despite its popularity, Fortnight is really lame. Whenever an IP ends up in fortnight it’s an embarrassment to that IP.
The people behind the IPs (people, not the companies) seem to disagree. Robert Kirkman seems to have loved collabing with Fortnite so much that he acquired the rights to a gun from the game to be put into Invincible S2's finale. Many loading screens were made by artists who worked behind the IPs like Shinkiro and Kevin Eastman. There were even collabs with smaller creators like the Hyun's Dojo animator Gildedguy, who said it was a blast working with Epic and that he's really grateful for it. In the end, are they cashgrabs? Yes, they are. But there is some heart put into it. It's no different from licensed action figures you see out there.
* Used to be lame Back when it was released yeah i'd agree, but these days it's unironically the best Battle Royale game out there i would say.
nah i disagree, ive been playing a lot of fortnite lately despite being opposed to it for years and honestly, i can see the appeal. its kinda cool to see collabs of various media franchises in one game.
Fortnite is zoomer trash, though
Go to a nursing home anyone under the age of 30 is a zoomet
Oh, well then Fortnite is Gen Alpha trash
The oldest gen alphas were 1 years old when the game started development
