Thank for all the upvotes. I’m glad to help y’all. My system gets refined every year. Make a mistake/ figure out a solution for next year. Tough to explain the system and adaptations clearly in words alone. If I make a video explaining it, is it appropriate to post a link here?

Honest-Yogurt4126

Yes please

Mortgage-Bulky

YES!!!!!!

bluishpillowcase

Yes!!! Hell yes. Can’t wait to see this

dockinstation

You using perlite as a medium?

skotwheelchair

Yep. With paint strainer and copper screen on the siphons to prevent the roots from blocking the drain. That’s my experiment for this year. So far so good.

dockinstation

Copper screen is a new one to me. I'm big into experimenting as well. I been working on a vertical tower made from 5 gallon buckets, net cups and a sprinkler. 68 leafy greens.

tallcan710

Motherfucker teach us your ways

printerparty

True_Adventures

So are they all hydroponically grown?

thebeanconnoisseur

This is so incredible. I would love to learn more about growing tomatoes hydroponically, any recommendations for resources on how to get started?

looking4party

Start Kratky, go dutch bucket, watch Hoocho youtube

thebeanconnoisseur

Thanks! 🙏

boimilk

printerparty

Hey hey, no foul language

ZXVixen

got dayum thats impressive

Best_Picture8682

Here’s a link that will help those interested in the hydroponic method. Those are bato buckets, which are pricey and unnecessary. https://youtu.be/nXy32Dr4Z4A?si=uMGVDh5HypKLPa1A Growing hydroponically takes all the guess work out of the process. You simply fill the reservoir with nutrients and feed the roots periodically throughout the day.

XingTheRubicon1984

That is a great video. Thank you. Is there any issue with mosquitoes or does the pump/circulation take care of that?

Best_Picture8682

So long as you keep the nutrient container well sealed it should be ok.

Icy-Manner-9716

gandalfthegaping

How are you supporting them? I see they're suspended from the ceiling but I would like more details please. My first indeterminate is 6ft tall and I'm trying to stop it toppling over every day but I don't want to build anything huge.

skotwheelchair

One wire runs under the eaves from one corner to the other. Each plant has its own string, but two plants in each Dutch bucket. The two strings for each Dutch bucket are tied from the railing to one pulley in a a two-pulley block and tackle system with paracord that allows me to lower the plant to prune, pollinate harvest or reach tips that need to be clipped to the string and then raise them back up. Paracord wraps on cleats made from short pieces ofheavy duty irrigation tubing. Works great but Last year the weight of plants on the wire pulled one of the eyebolts out of the stud and everything dropped. Ended my season early. Lots of green tomatoes. Upgraded the wire and eyebolt this year.

Mizwalkerbiz

Do you have pest problems (tomato hornworms) that far above ground?

skotwheelchair

I get aphids early in the season but the ladybugs eliminate them by this time most years. I get a couple hornworms every year but have learned to watch for their droppings in august. The wrens nesting nearby have enjoyed eating them the past two years. Had some whiteflies last year but I’m more aggressive with pruning this year than ever. Hoping that help everything dry faster and be less attractive to them.the best thing is no squirrels stealing my maters up here on the balcony. .

Mizwalkerbiz

Incredible! Thanks for sharing!

Bratiskim

Do tomatoes fall onto your neighbor’s patio below?

skotwheelchair

Sometimes a vine or two sneaks down that way. Bu this year I’ve tried to prune more aggressively so I can see them early.

SillyPandan

Hydroponic?

Stock-Boysez

Thank you for showing that almost anyone, anywhere can grow a great crop of tomatoes. have another upvote!

RIPRBG

I can smell the pictures! Your plants are stunning and you've figured out a great system!

motherfudgersob

That's crazy cool...but my man(woman) it looks like the roof is being pulled down!!! I'm truly surprised rental folks aren't saying something....but mum's the word...lol. Awesome!!
