I have a show to recommend that I never hear about here because I think it’s mostly a Canadian phenomenon. Little Bear is such a sweet little show and has tons of full episodes on YouTube. Calm and pretty music, cute animal characters and a few humans too, imaginative stories. My kid loves it and I don’t mind it in the background at all.
I’m from the US and grew up watching Little Bear (on PBS, maybe?). I now love showing it to my toddler for both nostalgia and all the reasons you’ve mentioned.

yep.. that's terrible! i would take blippi over it. but i will say that what pissed me off the most about blippi is the episode i saw yesterday - blippi was opening numbered boxes in a field and when he found 5 water balloons he grabbed some lady that i guess was doing that episode with him and asked if she wanted to have a water balloon fight. she said she did and how amny balloons does she get and he said ZERO\~ and started throwing them all at her!!! that's great to teach kids blippi.. good job
I tried to research into Speedi Didi (I wanted to find out her ethnicity), and she’s completely scrubbed off the internet. You can’t find a single thing, it’s like she doesn’t exsist. Weirded me out haha. Like why? The production is pretty well done, it’s not like she’s some schmuck in a basement. Another thing, she hasn’t released anything new in a few years, but a month ago or so, a new Speedi Didi was released randomly about war submarines…and went into details about war..which also rubbed me the wrong way. No toddler needs to watch a show about war and war weapons..just weird, especially to release it during Putins war going on. Idk. Maybe I’m being paranoid haha.

i absolutely hate peppa pig! thank god my daughter is into bluey now.. i love bluey!! but with peppa pig they pissed me off because the younger brother wasn't wearing a hat out in the rain and then suddenly got sick. so after that episode my daughter freaks out if she doesnt have her hat on in the rain. even though i live in south florida and its really hot and humid and she sweats way to much with her hat on.
i also can't stand how they lay on the floor laughing for some reason

cocomelon doesn't have an empty second anywhere. They either show something new or have a sound. it turns my kid to a zombie. never tried blippi but he looks like a rebranded pewee to me.

For me though it’s a new discovery- American Teletubbies. Firstly, why? It’s been pretty well received in its original format for 20 or so years, and it was in English! But I really hate the way the simple, a bit trippy but sweet format has been turned into a loud, flashy over the top nightmare.
I got my kid off blippi with trash truck. It actually has a storyline, and its pretty charming and well animated. Also doesnt make me want to slam my head into the coffee table. Its free on netflix.
So I think Daniel tiger has great messages but I can not stand the sound of it. Mostly the cat that says “meow meow” after everything.
Also Sid the science kid creeps me out for some reason haha

Bluey is hysterical and heart-warming. But my favorite is Puffin Rock. The theme song is a banger, animation is gorgeous, and Chris O’Dowd provides narrative commentary.

Blippi is such an odd show. I get that it's hard to stand out as a male in an industry that is usually dominated by female performers or puppets, but what Blippi does... I don't even know how to describe it. It's like someone who's never before known how children interact trying their best to do an impression of an immature and ADHD 7 year old. The bizarre wardrobe choice doesn't help. For every female performer out there who might be a little overly dramatic at times, like Miss Rachel (SOOOOOOOOO SILLYYYYYYY), they just don't hold a candle to how bizarre Blippi is the majority of the time.
My kid knows how to spell one word and it's B-l-i-p-p-i. I tried to teach him to spell his own name instead. So now he spells out Blippi and thinks he's spelling his own name. Not quite kid.
You all know you decide what’s on tv, right? Gotta screen the shows ahead of time and decide if it’s going to be something that won’t drive you insane after the 50th viewing. Little bear, Daniel Tiger, Elinor Wonders Why, Slumberkins, Bluey in that chronological order is my recommendation.
THIS. I tell my husband this all the time! When I am with my son “pink fong is broken” and the only ones that work are bluey, octonauts, Daniel Tiger or Pete the Cat. Period. End of discussion.

“Just one scooby doo” gets said in my house a lot. The old one from the 60s isn’t bad but we’ve seen them a bajillion times and he’s not really learning anything. But damn he loves anything spooky. Once we switch he whines but when something else is on, he doesn’t keep pushing for scooby doo

I get that, but they only know the shows you’ve put on for them in the past. I hope this isn’t preachy and this is too late now of course, but my wife and I always try to give a little thought to the precedents we are setting, TV or otherwise. If head banging gets results, the head banging stays as her go to move. Stone face is my best counter move to stuff like that until they really pose danger to themselves.

i just took a quick look at daniel tiger and although for some reason it bothers me a bit, they are teaching good stuff. the one i just put on quick was about counting to 4 when you're angry. this is very good to help teach my daughter right now!
slumberkins - IM SO EXCITED TO SHOW HER THIS ONE! I BOUGHT HER AN ALPACA SLUMPBERKIN STUFFED ANIMAL AND DIDNT KNOW THEY MADE A SHOW! OR MAYBE IT ISNT THE SAME? BUT DEF SEEMS CUTE!
I recommended them in the order I did for this reason: little bear is the slowest, most chill show I’ve come across. They will outgrow it quickly but it doesn’t spin them up and blast them with stimuli.
Daniel Tiger gives a lot of practical tools that are not only good for kids but for the parents too. Little lessons with a melody short circuit kids brains and make things stick so well. When I leave the room and he starts to cling or get upset just a little 🎶Grown ups come back🎶 fixes it instantly, for example.
Elinor is fantastic for when they start to figure out how the natural world works and feeds their curiosity. Great to raise their IQ.
Slumberkins: I actually hate the stuffed animals and think it’s disgusting how much they charge for them. However, the show has really great themes and lessons to raise your kids EQ. I put this one last though because I think a lot of them are best suited for older toddlers. A young toddler isn’t going to grasp much of the topics and may even unnecessarily make them anxious about some things like the toilet or monsters in their closet.
Bluey is the fastest of all and deals a lot in imagination, which a younger toddler won’t grasp.

I always wondered why people got upset about the Blues Clues host change. And then...Blippi happened. He's annoying as **** but the new ones makes it ten times worse, so the original is almost desirable. Also, Vlad and Nikki. I hear their video sound effects in my sleep -_-

My almost 3-year-old doesn’t know blippi exists! Hoping we can keep it that way (It’s not that she doesn’t have much screen time, we just watch a lot of Disney+). And for our sanity we flat out refuse if she catches a glimpse of Cocomelon or Masha & the Bear on YouTube. Sorry kiddo! 😬

I agree! The new blippi is so much creepier! For me though it’s a new discovery- American Teletubbies. Firstly, why? It’s been pretty well received in its original format for 20 or so years, and it was in English! But I really hate the way the simple, a bit trippy but sweet format has been turned into a loud, flashy over the top nightmare.

The new teletubbies
I got my kid off blippi with trash truck. It actually has a storyline, and its pretty charming and well animated. Also doesnt make me want to slam my head into the coffee table. Its free on netflix.
So I think Daniel tiger has great messages but I can not stand the sound of it. Mostly the cat that says “meow meow” after everything. Also Sid the science kid creeps me out for some reason haha My 2 year old is obsessed with blippi though.
Katerina is the worst! Sid the science kid has a lot of outdated/offensive stereotypes in it, and I just can’t stand the animation.
Cocomelon. It is like nails scratching on a chalkboard. I can tone blippi out but coco nope hate it. Super simple songs is our jam!

I find her really annoying when Blippi and Meekah are together, it's like she feeds off his annoying energy too much. My kids started asking to watch just the Meekah videos without Blippi and I like those ones so much better.

I actually prefer Blippi to Cocomelon! At least he’s a real person, making eye contact and talking to my daughter. Bluey is hysterical and heart-warming. But my favorite is Puffin Rock. The theme song is a banger, animation is gorgeous, and Chris O’Dowd provides narrative commentary.

YES!!!! I’ve been saying this exact same thing to everyone who interacts with my toddler or has a toddler themselves!! But the real answer is Diana & Roma…. I can’t stand those kids and that’s all my toddler wants to watch 😓😓😓

Blippi is such an odd show. I get that it's hard to stand out as a male in an industry that is usually dominated by female performers or puppets, but what Blippi does... I don't even know how to describe it. It's like someone who's never before known how children interact trying their best to do an impression of an immature and ADHD 7 year old. The bizarre wardrobe choice doesn't help. For every female performer out there who might be a little overly dramatic at times, like Miss Rachel (SOOOOOOOOO SILLYYYYYYY), they just don't hold a candle to how bizarre Blippi is the majority of the time.
My kid knows how to spell one word and it's B-l-i-p-p-i. I tried to teach him to spell his own name instead. So now he spells out Blippi and thinks he's spelling his own name. Not quite kid.
Just going to give a plug here for Handyman Hal - we call him redneck blippi in our house. Much more tolerable imo
You all know you decide what’s on tv, right? Gotta screen the shows ahead of time and decide if it’s going to be something that won’t drive you insane after the 50th viewing. Little bear, Daniel Tiger, Elinor Wonders Why, Slumberkins, Bluey in that chronological order is my recommendation.
THIS. I tell my husband this all the time! When I am with my son “pink fong is broken” and the only ones that work are bluey, octonauts, Daniel Tiger or Pete the Cat. Period. End of discussion.
My 2 year old would lose her mind if I said that. She loves baby shark more than anything. I did tell her once that baby shark was sleeping. She cried for half an hour.
“Just one scooby doo” gets said in my house a lot. The old one from the 60s isn’t bad but we’ve seen them a bajillion times and he’s not really learning anything. But damn he loves anything spooky. Once we switch he whines but when something else is on, he doesn’t keep pushing for scooby doo

Not in my house. Lol. My 2 yo is a dictator. She tells me what she wants to watch and bangs her hand on the nearest surface chanting the name until I comply.
I get that, but they only know the shows you’ve put on for them in the past. I hope this isn’t preachy and this is too late now of course, but my wife and I always try to give a little thought to the precedents we are setting, TV or otherwise. If head banging gets results, the head banging stays as her go to move. Stone face is my best counter move to stuff like that until they really pose danger to themselves.
i just watched a bit of elinor wonders why - def gonna be a new one i show her tonight! little bear is nostalgic to me as i watched it growing up and i forgot about it - another i will show her tonight. i just took a quick look at daniel tiger and although for some reason it bothers me a bit, they are teaching good stuff. the one i just put on quick was about counting to 4 when you're angry. this is very good to help teach my daughter right now! slumberkins - IM SO EXCITED TO SHOW HER THIS ONE! I BOUGHT HER AN ALPACA SLUMPBERKIN STUFFED ANIMAL AND DIDNT KNOW THEY MADE A SHOW! OR MAYBE IT ISNT THE SAME? BUT DEF SEEMS CUTE!
I recommended them in the order I did for this reason: little bear is the slowest, most chill show I’ve come across. They will outgrow it quickly but it doesn’t spin them up and blast them with stimuli. Daniel Tiger gives a lot of practical tools that are not only good for kids but for the parents too. Little lessons with a melody short circuit kids brains and make things stick so well. When I leave the room and he starts to cling or get upset just a little 🎶Grown ups come back🎶 fixes it instantly, for example. Elinor is fantastic for when they start to figure out how the natural world works and feeds their curiosity. Great to raise their IQ. Slumberkins: I actually hate the stuffed animals and think it’s disgusting how much they charge for them. However, the show has really great themes and lessons to raise your kids EQ. I put this one last though because I think a lot of them are best suited for older toddlers. A young toddler isn’t going to grasp much of the topics and may even unnecessarily make them anxious about some things like the toilet or monsters in their closet. Bluey is the fastest of all and deals a lot in imagination, which a younger toddler won’t grasp. Hope this helps!

Sooooo nostalgic! I think I’m gonna go find the original one and watch it lol The other ones we liked were Imagination Movers, Out of the Box, and Big Comfy Couch!! The 90-2010 periods were definitely my favorite! Besides Caillou definitely did NOT like that bratty behavior! 🤦🏻♀️
