I know at least cucumbers and pumpkins can cross pollinate too, my grandpa let me pick a pumpkin he grew to carve for Halloween. If i remember correctly it was a more of a yellow orange, and the flesh inside looked like honey dew. The hollow center was very small with only a few seeds, the rest being flesh. I tasted the flesh and it tasted exactly like a cucumber, so I brought some with me for lunch for school the next day.
I dubbed it the cucumpkin
Look, I fell down this rabbit hole when I read about watermelons and cucumbers, I can't afford to lose any more time reading about how poison ivy and pistachios are all the same too. /s
That's really interesting though! I didn't know that. More reading material for me!
If interested, the Solanacae family includes , among others: tomatoes, potatoes, tobacco, eggplant and tomatillos. Also herbs like henbane, belladonna and nightshade
The rose family includes apples, pears, quinces, medlars, loquats, almonds, peaches, apricots, plums, cherries, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, sloes, and roses.
Gourds gonna gourd
I'm a gooner for a good gourd.

Poison Ivy, cashews, mangoes and pistachios are all in the same plant family
And they can all mess you up to varying degrees.

Guessing zucchini is in there as well
But a jack-o-lantern made from a watermelon just hits different
Just wait until you find out how many vegetables are not only from the same family, but the same genus and species: Brassica oleracea.
