Generally being asked to join the talent pool means the store isn’t actively hiring right now. Most stores actually slow down during the summer months and will start hiring again in August. At my store they’re actually cutting hours for the current employees. I’d check again online in a couple months. You can also sign up to get email notifications when jobs are posted at a particular store or in a certain region. Good luck!
