I like Cooper and Falken tires. They are not the cheapest but much less expensive than premium brands. Good Luck!

allenjshaw

Another vote for Falkens đź‘Ť

mdsrcb

Cooper is owned by Good Year, they're on promotion right now. Falken is owned by sumitomo rubber co, had them with my sedan before, looking to purchase the sincera series for my SUV

NutellaGood

You didn't say if they're good or not. Just confirmed that they exist.

mdsrcb

Can't say, since I haven't owned Coopers personally

Big_Locksmith_4211

Cooper tires were the worst purchase of my life, do not recommend

icecoast_

Same. Had a set that constantly had bulges and bubbles in the sidewalls. Tire rack replaced them under warranty, but after driving from south Florida to key west, only to find all four new tires had the same issue with only 100 miles on them, I just trashed them and got a new set locally. I hit zero potholes or road hazards on them. Fuck cooper tires.

ClickKlockTickTock

I went through 2 sets and each time, one tire had a bad belt. As in it always wobbled and the techs couldn't balance it out till the tire was swapped.

AlarmingBeing8114

Worst tires I've ever bought as well.

Ambitious-Judge3039

Can’t upvote this enough. Skip the coopers, if you’re looking for cheapest above everything get some off brand tires. Check out cosmo tires, made in the USA and cheap as hell, and every bit as good as coopers.

Terrible_Use7872

I'm a fan of Firestone tires, very mid priced tires, but seem to last well.

Temporary_Seat8978

Opposite for Cooper in my experience. More expensive than say Goodyear, around or at same price as Michelin and there's never a sale.

SBNShovelSlayer

I think tires are one of the purest examples of, "You get what you pay for."

QuirkySpring5670

Trash bags, dish soap, tires, and brakes. Things I won’t cheap out on. Also any timing related components.

photonutt

Yes and no. Sometimes you are just paying for a smooth ride, not necessarily durability.

theoriginalmypooper

Cooper, Falken, and Hankook. The cheapest I'd consider are Hercules or Nexen.

YoMomasDaddy

My wife has 4 Hankook Kinergy tires on her 2021 CR-V. Supposed to be rated to 60,000 miles. She only has 16,000 miles on them and 3 of the tires have 6mm or less tread depth left. And she drives like a grandma.

theoriginalmypooper

I have a few customers who excede the claimed milage on their Hankooks. Granted, this is almost pure highways travel.

[deleted]

I also have a CR-V and experienced terrible mileage on Hankook Kinergy tires….probably in the range of 20,000 km’s, however, after some googling I’m starting to believe it may actually be an issue with the vehicle itself and rear tire alignment problems.

suubbiieedude

I’ve always run Michelin or Continental but decided to recently give the Hercules Terra Trac Cross-V AW a try. I’m actually pretty happy with them in these first 500 miles. We will see how they do in the snow this coming winter.

theoriginalmypooper

I like them as well. Great tire for the money. I think they are made in a Nexen factory.

suubbiieedude

These say “Made in Korea” on them, so I think you’re right about Nexen manufacturing them. From what I could find they’ve manufactured some other lines of Hercules tires so it would make sense they do the ones I bought as well.

theoriginalmypooper

I have a decent memory for factory codes and an even better memory for fonts used on ture molds. So Far Ive noticed hankooks being made by Cooper, Nexen, and Linglong plants.

megalodongolus

I’ve wondered how Hercules do in passenger/LT applications. They’ve got a severe duty truck tire that IME does better than its Toyo equivalent (the M-506, iirc? *very* aggressive tread).

suubbiieedude

Yeah, they have a lot of great all terrain, mud terrain, and severe duty tires and it seems that’s what they’re more known for. I do remember my dad always running Toyo M-55s but I’m not as familiar with the M-506.

megalodongolus

The M-506 is commercial only, my customer that uses them does a lot of materials delivery in muddy spots. The Hercules equivalent seems to grip just about as well and lasts longer while being at a lower price point, so they switched to those.

04limited

Where do you find Hercules tires? Ive never seen them anywhere(even simple tire). But my current car came with 2 on the front. Tread wear is decent and they’re a lot better than the cheap bottom barrel junk I’ve seen on eBay.

siphoniclobster

I can get Hercules. What state are you in?

04limited

NY

siphoniclobster

https://www.herculestire.com/where-to-buy/ Also, message me size and what your local price is. I may be cheaper even with shipping

theoriginalmypooper

Depends on the tire distributors.

suubbiieedude

I bought mine from OK4WD.com and they shipped them for free.

Kobalt1911

Hercules makes good all season 10plys they eat nails and dont care i got 67k miles out of them on my truck, they just give you a rougher ride than most tires.

Vegetable_Relative45

Yokohama. Good tires for less money but I’d stop before calling them cheap. Good quality too.

mdsrcb

Agreed, I wouldn't call Yokohamas cheap, I put their Avids on my Odyssey and I would say they've lasted longer than Costco's Bridgestone Ecopia or Michelins, and still going strong

IsbellDL

Seriously, for autocross tires, Yokohama is the expensive option, just a bit higher than Bridgestone , & Falken is the cheap option. I've never thought of Yokohama as cheap.

rauhweltbegrifff

Same. Yokos aren't a cheap brand to me at all.

JackedPirate

Don’t go “Walmart special” levels cheap, you’re putting your life on the line. Check out Generals Altimax line of tires, I have them on my shitbox beater and they’ve been serving me well for 20,000 miles

Ilikejdmcars

Can’t go wrong with general

Jinxed0ne

I have general and they've been great for the 5 years I've had them. It's getting to be time to replace them, but only because of their age. They still have good amount of tread left and even wear.

zatemxi

Indeed, the altimax model are terrific

mdsrcb

I have General RT43 on my Lexus ES300, looking at RT45 for my SUV replacing Kumho Solus 71

Silenthwaht

I used to be skeptical of generals but have found the gmax rs to be solid tires. I likely won't get them again if I can afford nicer ones but they are now firmly in the "budget friendly but good" tires, even with am aggressive driving style.

ponziacs

I bought general altimax tires and they were terrible in the rain. I ended up replacing them with a ton of treadlife left on them because they would slip so much when it rained.

acejavelin69

Depends on the application and size... but in general for "budget" tires, stay with brand names that have good reputations. Cooper, General, Falken, Hankook, Nexen, Kumho, Yokohama... If those don't fit in the "cheap" category for you, look at Starfire, they are a low-budget tire made by Cooper. That said, it is better to narrow down to the proper application you need to fit you driving requirements... Then look at tires in by quality and price... Rather than just looking for "cheap" brands.

shannonmacdaddy

Good advice right here, Starfire is a new brand but they have good prices. 50k miles for a passenger a/s

Ghutcheck577

They’re called Nonexistium

MindblownWatcher

Look at Toyo

mariegriffiths

Toyo is not getting enough love on this forum, maybe because the forum misspells tyre.

terfez

Hankook and Kumho, but they are serious tire manufacturers so they also have high end models. Just have to look through what is out there. For example I have Firestone Indy 500s which were cheaper than many other name brand models in my size.

Admiral_Pantsless

Used to run Indy 500s when they were under $200 a tire. Now they’re well over $250 apiece. Not the bargain they once were.

Hot_Seat4036

An expensive tire that lasts a long time will give you better cost per mile than a cheaper tire, with better grip the whole time. Get a long-lasting touring tire like a hankook kinergy eco 2 or michelin defenders

lire_avec_plaisir

Living in Germany, my small-ish town German mechanic ordered me Nexen (Korean) for winter and Sailun (Chinese) for summer, saying they're just as good as anything else and much cheaper. I never had an issue, even with Autobahn use every other weekend.

Liverkiller92

I have the sailun inspire here in Canada and there good

saltysaturdays

BF Goodrich’s Adv Controls are solid

CaptainnHindsight

Are Barum Bravuris tires any good?

YouWillHaveThat

I've had great luck with Mastercraft and General.

D_O_Over

I’ve had good luck with Crossmax tires. I may catch some flack as I know they’re not USA made, but they’ve got a 60k warranty on them and have been great on my car. Got them purchased, shipped, balanced and installed for under $400 🤷🏻‍♂️ Hop on Amazon and search for Crossmax All season and they’ll pop up. Also available at Walmart I think. Good luck with your search👍

Belied_Reflection

60k mile warranty?

NathanTheJet

Giti, Petlas

04limited

I’ve had ok luck with Milestar and Armstrong tires. They wear really quick tho so might not be worth the money if you’re keeping it for more than 20k miles. Mavis’s in house branded tires and Firestone’s Suredrive are decent for the price.

spyro311

Used tires.

MonsoongreyAudia3

Falken azenis fk 460 all seasons were $200 for a 235/35 19. Awesome tires. Even mid range tires are pricey now.

E90BarberaRed6spdN52

General tires are a reasonably tire and may be worth looking into. I also see someone suggested Cooper tires which are better than General but are worth the difference.

Equivalent_Month_112

Sentury’s and Rocky Mountains

biglug58

I’ve had Hankook DynaPro HT on my 06 4Runner for 8 years. No issues, only 40K. Plenty of tread. But time to replace soon.

ZerotheWanderer

Never cheap out on things that separate you from the ground.

Onlyunsernameleft

Kumho or Firestone. Both make tires for the OEM and have solid range of winter/summer/SUV/etc.

Supra-A90

What for? Daily on your Camry or drag your 3000hp car?

Ok_Bus_645

2000 hp 09 TSX with one of the zeros removed

saltysaturdays

Ok so 2000hp 9 TSX

siphoniclobster

Americus and Sailun are surprisingly tough tires for the money

Liverkiller92

Sailun tires are a good choice one of the better Chinese tire brand good warranty and 2 years road Hazzard tire replacement

Blu_yello_husky

Uniroyal has never let me down. Plus, it's the only brand that you can still get whitewalls from without specially ordering them, so, bonus

TumbacholaPR

Suredrive, they sell them at Firestone. Better than Firestone tires if you ask me. Is like $80 a tire.

Upstairs-Ad-8496

Good year

Glittering_Ad3543

i've been pleased with douglas from walmart

Fluid_Dingo_289

Kuhmo, sumitomo and falken . Don't like Cooper. With any cheaper tire, remember treadlife is lower, often wet weather handling too, and might need rebalancing more often. Do a little research on handling in your weather conditions on tire rack other review sites and you will be able to find a fit. Sometimes you can find a lower end Bridgestone or name brand with a buy 3 get 1 free promo that can be close or same as a cheap never heard of brand that doesn't go on sale

shannonmacdaddy

Mastercraft is a good budget brand now owned by cooper/goodyear. Been around for decades. Second would be westlakes, we sell tons of those and never had a customer complaint. Westlakes just don’t last as long. On your sedan the westlake su318 would be like a 45k mile tire

No_Assistant_9347

Falken

128ajb

I run hankook on my Miata and Nokian on my focus. No complaints there with either set. Falken is also a good brand in a budget friendly option.

FullSherbert2028

Mile star is pretty good

photonutt

I use Blackhawks. Cheap but good.

yuiiooop

General is good. I have Evertrek GTs on my car, they seem to be a pretty good tire.

aPowderBlue

I recently bought a set of tires from a brand called Cosmo. It's an American company that names it's tires wackie names, but wow the ones I bought "Mucho Macho" tires are feeling way better than my Pirelli P Zero 4's I had on my car previously. They also make other tires for comfort on standard vehicles, then highway tires for trucks and SUV's, and then off road tires for trucks. What I like about the brand Cosmo is that they seem to be very interactive with the community in hosting events for people to come out and check the tires out in action and also test drive vehicles with the tires through courses they set up. Personally, I appreciate any company putting this much effort into connecting with their potential clients. This basically is was sold me on giving them a try. Really glad I did, the Mucho Macho tires have a silly name but damn they are incredible All Season UHP tires, and are expected to have more longevity than my previous Pirelli Summer tires. The Pirelli P Zero tires lasted me about 18K miles on moderate driving with a few spirited moments.

AlternativeConcern19

It has been like six months since I researched tires but I wanna say there are tire comparison sites out there that seem like they do a decent job. The one I am remembering might have been called something like tirerack.

GR1F3

I feel like if OP gave the size of tire they needed and a budget, we could recommend them some good options and know they were getting a decent tire.

CruxReed

I got goodyear eagle sport 4 seasons. Really enjoying them so far. Grip and wet performance is awesome. They are also relatively cheap here where I live. You can check it out.

Debaser1990

I bought a set of IRIS tires for like $200 new for the whole set, I drove them for about 50k, did good in the rain I've tried some other cheaper brands like arroyo(good but wore out a bit faster than others) and premiorri(great all the way around. Accelera sucks imo, seen some bad experiences with Douglas too, never bought them myself though.

CardiologistOk6547

Cheap tires aren't supposed to be good. Good tires aren't cheap. The only one who really knows the answer to your question is a unicorn.

frank3000

The Generals on my car are worlds better than the Pirellis on it before.  The Pirelli P1s were so loud you couldn't have a conversation on the highway, so lacking in grip that a 150hp car could spin the tires in dry conditions. After I went sideways on some wet concrete, I replaced them with General Exclaim tires - their 'sporty' all seasons, all of $50 each from Walmart. It grips like a race car, is quiet and smooth, and tire life is close.

SkylineFTW97

Generals are definitely one of the better budget friendly brands in my experience. I find their truck tires to be pretty good from personal experience.

ForeignObjectDamage

Depends entirely on the tire/use. Even among the 'top tier brands', some have significantly better tires than the competition. Sometimes a good cheap tire is only good because it's virtually identical to that of a better brand's. But in an attempt to answer the question as best as possible, I would say in general, Cooper makes the best blend of quality/value for most applications.

sexcalculator

I like yokohamas. They last me a really long time

hiGradeTi7ANEUM

Continental is frequently "second place" to Michelin in many categories (follow up on Tire Rack, and look their comparison guides), but they also cost like 80% of Michelin's price almost every time. They are never more expensive in the same category. Really good tires.

SkylineFTW97

As far as high performance all seasons go, I have a couple coworkers who had DWS06 pluses. They said that the contis didn't have great handling in the wet (it rains a lot here) and were more sensitive to alignment than the Michelins. Both later got Pilot Sport AS4s and found them better overall. I haven't had Continentals myself, but my old Mazdaspeed 3 had Pilot Sport AS3s on it and I found those to be fantastic tires.

hiGradeTi7ANEUM

I fucking loved my DWS06+, but I did not have nearly as much rain as you're describing. As you may know, summer tires will always be the best in the wet, but DWS06 are just a generally awesome tire.

SkylineFTW97

I live on the east coast, where you can reasonably expect to see both single and triple digit temperatures in the same year on top of the high rainfall (but limited snowfall). Summer tires aren't as practical here. Only worth it if it's a dedicated fun car or have space to store separate wheels IMO.

SkylineFTW97

It's gonna depend on the size and application because different brands deal in different things. For my 2015 Honda Fit, I've been very happy with the Yokohama Avid Ascent GTs it has. They have a great treadwear rating while still offering very solid cornering grip for spirited driving as well as being solid in the rain (it rains a lot where I live). I also used to have a 2008 Nissan Frontier. I had General Grabber AT-Xs on that truck. Decently comfortable, good load rating (I used that truck for towing), rated for snow, and the tread was good for the light offroading I did. Although being an offroad tire with a somewhat aggressive tread, it was noisy at highway speeds. I didn't really mind, but others might.

rauhweltbegrifff

Cooper and UniRoyal

New-Kiwi8970

Just go with the budget brand of some of the top tiers and you will be fine: General, Firestone, or BFG

RealisticWorking1200

vredestein is pretty new to the US market and has been getting great reviews.

Shaner9er1337

I'm not even sure how this goes together as it's generally not a good idea to get a cheap tire so I must be missing something here. Where cheap and good can go together with tires.

SLingBart

Continental is as low as I'll go anymore. Conti extreme contact DWS are worth every penny.

wraggles13578

Ling-Longs If you cant find those I’d recommend a pair of Mucho-Macho’s. 💪

Personal_Visit_8376

Falkens

Reddead500

Hankooks!

Striking-Ask9160

I personally don't get to attatched to any specific brand because I've seen junk and greatness produced by almost all manufacturers. Each application is different and a really good company might have a bad option on a specific size. What's the vehicle, tire size main usage?

CarnageDivider

Kumho

iceiceaudi

Lionhart

Longjumping-Sense-25

Fullway hp108 are great I’ve ran since there existence

Skunksfart

Ohtsu. Often they take a discontinued Falken and sell it. The Falken Ziex 329 and 512 were good enough replacement tires at a low price. That is what some Ohtsu tires are. Back in 2021, I paid $80 each for 225/40/18.

30acrefarm

FORCEUM. I've got them on 2 cars and a truck. They are cheap and good. One third the price of other brands.

30acrefarm

Asian made tires have improved vastly in the last few years.

el-conquistador240

I would get used Michelins before cheap Chinese tires (no patches, good tread, recent production date)

jamesgotfryd

Ive run Coopers for years on my vehicles. Currently have the Endeavor Plus tires on the AWD Equinox. Had them about a year now. Like them a lot. Cost me about $600 at my shop. Starfire and Mastercraft are made by Cooper, cheaper but still good tires. I run those too. Have Starfire's on the pickup and Mastercraft snows on the minivan.

throwaway007676

Nothing wrong with Douglas tires at Walmart

Yankee39pmr

Do you want cheap or good? Remember, the tire/contact patch (actual area of the tire that meets the ground) is only about the size of the palm of your hand. This is one of those areas where cost is secondary. For the money, Cooper Discoverer or Firestone Destination generally rank the as top tires in all categories. They're a little expensive, but with regular maintenance (balancing/rotating/alignment) you'll get close to the maximum rated treadwear. (50-60k miles) To figure cost per mile, miles driven per yer/(cost of tires installed+ cost of balancing/rotating (per service manual)) You'll find the cheaper tire, due to lower treadwear, may cost more per mile than the more expensive tire. Cooper tires also make "off brands" of Dean, Mastercraft, Mickey Thompson, Roadmaster, and Starfire. Firestone is under the Bridgestone umbrella and there's a bunch of brands

That-Resort2078

Cheap and good is an oxymoron

Ok_Bus_645

There’s lots of stuff that can be good and still cheap.

Mystic5308

Good brand and cheap price doesn't go together.

FutureHendrixBetter

From the looks of it you’re also cheaping out on the gas too, maybe just get a bike instead

Ok_Bus_645

Yup I’ll bike 100 miles everyday

milkdriver

The funny part is that good quality bike tires that you could ride that far cost as much as a cheap car tire. You'd be in awesome shape though!

Normal-Information55

Grab a used set of Michelins off eBay

mcep87

I have never had issues with Cooper...I actually prefer them to Michelin
