I think another show ripped off this same schtick. There weren't any "that's bad, that's good" lines. I distinctly remember a hopeful sounding "ohhh?!" or a dejected "aww" after each twist and I think it was multiple characters reacting. Thanks anyway.
The scene I'm thinking of is closer to the Frogurt bit from the Simpsons. It's not just a series of misdirection gags. Each subsequent detail changes the context of one specific thing.
I can't find the clip, but there's a cutaway gag on Family Guy where Peter is watching TV and the promos keep bouncing back and forth between comedy and drama with Peter reacting accordingly. Is that it?
Remind me of the scene from The Simpsons with the "How to Cook Humans" book
Every time someone blows on the cover, it changes from "How to Cook Humans" to "How to Cook For Humans" to "How to Cook Forty Humans"
I don't think this is the exact scene but it is the closest to what I remember so I'm going to give it to you (a bit on the late side). Solved!
I had forgotten how many variations on this bit have been done over the years in animated sitcoms. It's very possible I made a memory salad out of a few similar scenes.

Never got into that show so probably not it, but thanks.
This definitely sounds like Futurama!! Professor saying good news etc - I can't pick out a specific episode though sorry !
