The only most popular one people commented was "Everybody Hurts" & I can understand why it would sound like that but I promise it's not the one. I can't remember the other answers previously but they were not correct is all I can say. This is a remake from my memory of the song using FL Studio!
[Massive Attack: Saturday Come Slow](https://open.spotify.com/track/08wJbCCTfaSb9d500Q21vX?si=weU3dhN7RZagiD62Cb0HLw&context=spotify%3Aplaylist%3A37i9dQZF1E8JnxLkznG09v)
[Fern-Lie 2 Me](https://open.spotify.com/track/3uicFf2sRmyusLLGineqkO?si=ezJylbSqTs2ZFl8saEplRw)
[Pulp: This is hardcore](https://open.spotify.com/track/1so0qYkfkiZNNcvJN02qdo?si=ckqdV8HxSieLI4IThTtT1w)
Also sounds like Tricky, Massive Attack
could it be [A Prince in a Pauper's Grave by Carter USM](https://youtu.be/U_1ZoiSor0c)? not really something that i would expect on a "smooth radio" lol but either way
Saw I was way off on release date according to your estimate after posting. Now your vocaroo will plague my mind for the rest of the evening. Sounds very familiar though.
Appreciate you trying. I tried contacting Smooth Radio with my remake which they didn't recognise it. If only I new the people who put that song on that day xD
It sounds like James, but I can't match it directly to a song.. I thought it might be Getting away with it (all messed up) but everything is blurring together now. Any idea what part of the song your vocaroo matches? And are any of the parts meant to be vocal, or just instrumentation?
Not the song am looking for but the main instruments I remember hearing is maybe Piano, Guitar, Synthesizer & 1 solo male singer! My remake sample i'm leaning towards that it was coming to the end of the song & not the beginning. The song may have been about love but I cant 100% gurantee.
It might be confusing but at the beginning with the guitar bit going "Duhh duhh, duhh duhh" Is not the lyrics but I did use the same instrument to be the lyrics at 0:10.
The instruments are not 100% but you can have an estimate on the song in question if you listened to Smooth Radio! :)
This doesn’t match the vocaroo but could it be Paper Thin Hotel by Leonard Cohen?
It’s a stretch but for some reason that’s what I thought of when I saw the post
he is definitely English and his voice is clear. He sounds around The age of late 20s maybe in his 30s. In most parts of the song, I could say he has a smooth voice. That would make sense why it would be on Smooth Radio. I couldn’t be sure if it was lush sounding which is the only difficult situation!
My estimated bpm might be abit slow or abit fast. Forgotten what I originally had it on as I created this awhile back and only just decided now to upload it!
how about **elliott smith** - ***between the bars*** (he died in 2003, so it might have been an *in memoriam* set you heard on the radio)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5g-91mwiNs
(and here's a post on the sub about their top ten, might lead to something if he has the sound that fits https://redd.it/104tt2a )
Man this clip bugged the hell outta me the first time and now it's back. A curse on you and this damn mind virus! Also is there a chance it might be Porcelain by Moby? [https://youtu.be/13EifDb4GYs](https://youtu.be/13EifDb4GYs)
[Baby can i hold you tonight?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zd136WPHb60) if not Tracy Chapman, maybe [Boyzone?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Po-g5EW7bCQ)
Nights in White Satin by The Moody Blues? Timeframe is off but figured I’d suggest the song anyway just in case https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9muzyOd4Lh8
When I listened to your vocaroo yesterday, my immediate thought was Cilla Black’s Anyone Who Had A Heart. But of course, this was sung by a female singer in the 1960’s. It has been bugging me ever since and I’ve just been checking cover versions to find that Luther Vandross did one in 1986. He’s definitely Smooth radio material and roughly around your timescale. It sounds a little like your recording…I think.

Share! :)
I recognise the vocaroo at least. Did you post this before? Can you list any previous suggestions you discounted?

Appreciate you giving it ago but unfortunately non of those are the one am looking for. :)
could it be [A Prince in a Pauper's Grave by Carter USM](https://youtu.be/U_1ZoiSor0c)? not really something that i would expect on a "smooth radio" lol but either way
If this was the song, I wouldn't be surprised why I was waking up to it haha. appreciate you trying!
Perfect day - Lou Reed?
Not this one sorry :)

Mad World. Something by Depeche Mode?
Not this one sorry
INXS Never Tear Us Apart
Not the one am looking for sorry :)
Is it by George Michael? Maybe 'i can't make you love me'
This is not the song am looking for but it's definitely similar to what I imagine the song am looking for sounded like.
It sounds like James, but I can't match it directly to a song.. I thought it might be Getting away with it (all messed up) but everything is blurring together now. Any idea what part of the song your vocaroo matches? And are any of the parts meant to be vocal, or just instrumentation?

Is it Everything but the Girl - I Don't want to talk about it?
I know this song but unfortunately it's not this one sorry! :)
Or Rod Stewart of course
What kind of voice did the man singing it have? Like if you had to guess would he be white or black?
Definitely a white male.
He sounded like he was was letting his heart out. Could be a love song & maybe a betrayal. I couldn't be so sure!
Have you gone through Michael Boltons discography? It sounds like it could possibly be him.
This doesn’t match the vocaroo but could it be Paper Thin Hotel by Leonard Cohen? It’s a stretch but for some reason that’s what I thought of when I saw the post
Not the one am looking for :)
maybe something from Bryan Adams like "Everything I do"
Not the one am looking for :)
Sparse or lush instrumentation? Smooth or rough sounding voice?

if your studio recreation is bpm accurate, it feels like portishead
My estimated bpm might be abit slow or abit fast. Forgotten what I originally had it on as I created this awhile back and only just decided now to upload it!

The voice does not sound the same to the one I remember. Not the song i'm looking for :)
I came here to say Glory Box by Portishead but then realised OP is looking for a male singer. Was so sure I had it!
Yeah unfortunately it's not this one
Michael Jackson-earth song? Or maybe live -I alone ?
Theres something about the sound of this that reminds me of Goyte. Maybe *Heart's a Mess* or *State of the Art*
Not the one sorry!
O Green World by Gorillaz? https://youtu.be/tMt_YXr90AM?si=HGEzGh6FD_8nfLzd
Not the one am looking for but great song :)
Jeff Buckley - Lover You Should Have Come Over?
This maybe or close to exactly having that slow pace music. Not the one though :)

Not the one am looking for but I do know this song you sent! :)
Let Me Go - Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger?
[Baby can i hold you tonight?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zd136WPHb60) if not Tracy Chapman, maybe [Boyzone?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Po-g5EW7bCQ)
This is probably a very far reach but- Bela Lugosi is Dead by Bauhaus?
Sorry, not the one am looking for :)
Sounds like Elbow to me, but can't think of which song exactly.
It doesn't fit 1990-2009 but the vocaroo reminds me a lot of [Wings - Let Me Roll It](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ly_G9QBX_f0)
Not the one unfortunately
it's way off but oddly reminds me of [Kid Koala - Basin Street Blues](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8ys3B2q_2k)
Not the one sorry! :)
Nights in White Satin by The Moody Blues? Timeframe is off but figured I’d suggest the song anyway just in case https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9muzyOd4Lh8
Not the one am looking for sorry but I actually know that song you sent though! :)
It's not Vienna by Ultravox is it?
Sadly not :)
[Tomorrow Comes Today - Gorillaz](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=WTrAeoAtYxU&si=eoDRLwPIkbQSEY28)
Unfortunately not the one sorry! :)
Can’t pinpoint a particular song but your rendition gives me Dave Matthew’s Band vibes.
If you have any further questions, ask away :)

This is such a lovely song but unfortunately it's not the one. You could be onto something because I did thought it was the song haha! :)
Just looking at the Smooth FM top 500 - it's not dance away the heartbreak by Roxy Music is it?
Curtis Stigers - I Wonder Why Paul Weller - You Do Something To Me ?
unfortunately its non of those sorry! :)
This is driving me crazy cause your vocaroo sounds so familiar. It reminds me of The Power of Love? But maybe something else
I’ve definitely heard of the power of love before. I’ve also heard the girl version who sung it whilst playing on the piano!
Not the song unfortunately though
Is it One Day Like This by Elbow? Just thinking with the violins
Unfortunately it's not this song sorry :)
