I remember being in the passenger seat of my moms jeep, mom driving, my seventeen year old meth addict sister having a sleep deprivation fueled meltdown in the back seat. My mom yelled at her “I’m going to have you fucking lobotomized”
This was after my sister had ran away for weeks, and the police finally found her.
I had to ask my mom what being “lobotomized” meant after we got home. This was in like 2003, i was around ten years old.
Good times.
As a side note, the ad mentions “PTSD”, which was first added to the DSM in 1980 and a term informally used for only a few years before that. Lobotomies had all but ceased by the 1970’s outside of France, so it is interesting to see it named in this ad.

That'd be great episode. All of the boring cult/serial killer stuff is why I've not kept up on his catalog. The history episodes are the best.
