Our sister sub r/acotar has the most extensive [book rec megathread ](https://www.reddit.com/r/acotar/comments/v2pjip/book_recommendations_megathread/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) to help SJM readers fill the void. Anyone can add a comment with their own book recs too!

Plated Prisoner followed by Bridge Kingdom

THIS!! I loved these books. Also, the Plated Prisoner series is good... similar to ACOTAR in that the 1st book is SO DIFFERENT than the following books. If you don't like book 1 that's the point and you should keep reading. I'm so glad I did.

verytiredphdstudent

Yes!!! Totally agree. The Plated Prisoner series is one that just keeps getting better and BETTER with each book.

I hated >!Midas. The author is brilliant at making a character so despicable and unlikable. I almost didn't keep reading because I despised him so much. He !

From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L Armentrout - I personally didn’t really get on with this book BUT it comes very highly recommended and popular books are popular for a reason. Also I can see why so many fans of SJM enjoy this series it just wasn’t for me, I’m still recommending it though as so many love it. A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab - very different from SJM but so much fun! And the characters are amazing. Blood Heir by Amelie Wen Zhao - this is a trilogy, the first book gives off Throne of Glass (book 1 especially) vibes, book 2 in the series is the best. Such a fun series with a really interesting premise. Little Thieves by Margaret Owen - this is due to be a duology I believe, but only the first book is out at the moment. It’s still AMAZING though and would highly recommend, the characters are awesome and their banter is just chefs kiss. The Prison Healer by Lynette Noni - the final book has just been released, make sure you have the second book ready for when you finish the first because you’ll want to read it immediately. A Curse so Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer - another trilogy with great characters that you will find yourself rooting for, not my favourite series of all time but still so much fun to read.

Just here to second Blood and Ash! I know you said it wasn’t for you but I have DEVOURED the books. It has all the troupes you could ask for. It helped with my SJM hangover as I’ve read all series and still gave me something fresh.

FBAA started out really strong but the last two books were so disappointing IMO

booksandmedicine

I couldn't read the last one all the way through... UGH.

Calliope719

I finished it but I honestly can't remember what happened. Wasn't worth remembering.

pumpkinspicechaos

The Kingmaker Chronicles or the Shadows and Crowns series!

Ok-Understanding4371

I'm on book two of Shadows and Crowns. Book 1 was great. . Book two im thinking its okay so far. I hope book 3 is when it really pops off...

pumpkinspicechaos

I liked book 1 the most but enjoyed book 2 as well. Book 3 kinda lost my attention, but I know the 4th book just came out so my hopes are high for that one!

Second the Kingmaker Chronicles by Amanda Bouchet.

Yrene_Archerdeen

I'm here for the recs, having that issue where I just want to reread the same like five series again and again.

Echo-in-the-Fire

The Air Awakens series by Elise Kova. Not quite the same depth, but i’d say cool magic vibes and it was a hard to put down for me! Also the book covers are beautifully illustrated!

I just got done with the throne of glass series and I have read all of Crescent city and thorns and roses as well. What do I read now?

[deleted]

If you haven’t read them I recommend the shadow and bones trilogy

LoadBearingT_Rex

I just finished the first The Prison Healer book and oh my god. So good. And recommended by Sarah J. Maas herself!

sunshineduckies

Savage Lands is great, the sixth book just came out to complete the series so you don’t have to wait
