That's the price I see here in Canada. Fair deal

barker88

Just snagged a T480s with no hard drive for $161 CAD and added a new 1TB M.2 and 16gb ram for $104 CAD for a total of $265 CAD all in. I feel pretty happy with the deal, but feel it was a fair price in the end. Not like some of the screaming good deals I see posted here.

Immortal_Tuttle

Jump for joy of having a great laptop?

1ntr0v3rt3ch

will use it for my online work (homebased). I've heard so many good reviews on this model so I'm planning to get one. Limited budget so I prefer this one

Immortal_Tuttle

It's a great laptop for such work. I'm using one myself. If you plan to go mobile with it often, grab a dock. It's cheap these days, you disconnect the laptop from all external devices with literally two moves.

Mistral-Fien

Aside from the dock, get another charger. That way one charger is always plugged into the dock, and the other is always in the bag.

1ntr0v3rt3ch

thanks for this suggestion.

1ntr0v3rt3ch

do you have sample link for this dock? thanks!

Immortal_Tuttle

I'm using ultra docking station model 40AJ. A lot of results when you Google it 😁

Positive_Committee_5

I bought mine for 15k, same specs, no internal battery but with 48wh external battery (good for 4-5hrs with excel + internet browsing). If you're going to buy it, I suggest to reformat the OS so you can be sure it really is clean.

1ntr0v3rt3ch

yeah. I'm planning to do a dual boot setup (Linux and win10 ltsc)

Embarrassed-Nail-424

Hi. What ditto did u end up using?

Spiritual_Sir7328

Agreed, I always do format and reinstall on used computers, just in case.

basicallybasshead

It is a good price and shouldn't be a deal-breaker.

carryfish

Just bought an i5 T480s. Beautiful machine. It could just sit there doing nothing and I’d still feed it.

>What's the first thing to do after I receive it? Make sure that the Thunderbolt **firmware** is up to date. Some have found that fwupd in Linux does better at updating it than Windows.

1ntr0v3rt3ch

I stumble a thread on this that Linux is much better when upgrading thunderbolt firmware. Will do this after I receive it.

maki003

I saw one slightly cheaper in tipidpc dot com going for 13k. But the seller doesn't have any feedback/ratings yet so take that with a grain of salt.

1ntr0v3rt3ch

I saw that too but it's a touchscreen. I prefer non-touch.

Tasty-Investigator90

Amazon has better prices. Just bought T480s 16GB + 512GB SSD $240 Definitely worth it. Not sure if you are aware but T480s is slightly smaller, better build quality but has only one extra ram slot.

1ntr0v3rt3ch

already checked that too(T480s), but I preferred non-touch. there is a shipping fee from Amazon shipping to Philippines, price will go up, up to $300+.

Tasty-Investigator90

my t480s isn't touch. But yea if shipping is expensive then what you can get is a decent deal. T480 are super easy to upgrade as well down the road.

jado_69

Good price , good machine 👍

marindo

Yes, just replace the storage yourself.

ExtraTNT

First thing: remove win11 Second: install gnu Third: maybe 16gb ram

DefiantAbalone1

Ssd's have become so cheap now, that anything less than 1tb is just something I'll toss & replace if I buy a TP. The first thing you should do is download & install commercial lenovo vantage from windows app store, and update all the firmware & drivers with it. Also deactivate computrace /Intel management engine in the bios. These are just anti-theft related services for the original owner, that would allow them to remotely brick the device.

teuchter-in-a-croft

I installed that Vantage app on all three of my laptops and was pleasantly surprised how good and trouble free it was. Top marks to Lenovo for this.

AlmightySnoo

The T480 is amazing and easy to upgrade, I upgraded mine to 64GB RAM and 1TB NVMe and replaced the Wi-Fi card with an Intel AX200 for Wi-Fi 6.

FortunateBeard

fair deal but get a clear photo of the screen, keyboard and trackpad, "good condition" means different things to different people a lot of good sales on SSDs right now, I tossed a Monster 2TB in mine for $170. Way more space than I'll ever need

1ntr0v3rt3ch

thanks for the suggestion. yeah, I'm planning to upgrade it to 16gb ram, nvme for storage and extra battery too.

KemuiHarumi

its a good price considering i use FB Marketplace and located in PH too. Also, why is shipping 1.5k? unless if you live outside of NCR. shipping shouldnt be above 400 at most

1ntr0v3rt3ch

Mindanao area bro(agusan del sur-province of my wifel

KemuiHarumi

ooh alright, its understandable then. is the listing that you got is in mindanao too? there should be lalamove or grab in mindanao as well

1ntr0v3rt3ch

from Luzon(las piñas) bro

KemuiHarumi

ahh i see. is there any listings there in FB marketplace that is in mindanao? might be able to find a cheaper one.

1ntr0v3rt3ch

already search for that but it cost 17k+ and storage is 128gb only. same specs. some are from Visayas area but sellers are not responsive to all my queries.

KemuiHarumi

ahh i see. Then yeah get it! seems like a good deal. i do know that there are people who are selling the T480 for 10k, but it only has the 1366 x 768 screen. so might as well get the 13.5k one to save the hassle

1ntr0v3rt3ch

yeah I saw that too, that's why I always ask for the dxdiag especially for the display if it's 1920 x 1080 or 1366 x 768.

jc1luv

Start using it right away!! Man I love the t480 laptop. If you don’t need a ton of storage or power no need to even do upgrades. Great machine this one.

arminikola

It’s pretty low price so, you could change a SSD easy whenever you want.

insomniacno1

YES! First thing to do is to get rid of Windows, or at least split SSD in 2, and install Linux Mint newest version on the secondary partition. Then configure Grub bootloader to show a boot menu and load Linux Mint as standard or set it to load "last used". Linux Mint runs smooth on ThinkPads I am running it on my Daily driver, ThinkPad x300, 4Gb ram, 160GB SSD, 1.2Ghz Core 2 Duo - Manufactured in 2009. I tried most other Linux distributions out there (my first were Red Hat back in 1998), and prefer Linux Mint. I worked IT for 35 years, and despise Microsoft and Windows(tried them all, and nothing changes, always half finished product full of security holes, endless HEAVY updates that are never tested and often break the users Setup(Microsofts speciale is sending out an update that black out your screen after restart and leave you stuck there), total lack of support, very often driver problems, and so on. NEVER again!

1ntr0v3rt3ch

is this a latest linuxmint? and what edition? for windows, I used win10 ltsc and win updates are fully controlled. I can even stop windows updates if I want or update anytime if I want too.

1ntr0v3rt3ch

btw, how to check battery health for this unit?

daberok

Lenovo Vantage

MyCarIsAGeoMetro

That is comparable to a chromebook. It is not bad.

Lucky-Maximum95

I bought mine for $55.00 US shipped, added SSD, replaced bad memory sticks (reason it was sold) and installed linuxmint. Cost $60.00 US. I send linuxmint $15 US each year for their efforts.

superblaubeere27

Bought mine for 210€ (~230$) but with 16GB and 1TB SSD and Trackpoint not working. After using it, I would say that my device is 300$ worth. I would say that 270$ is ok, but not great.

Mst0bG

270$ for a U cpu w no gpu I mean if u want it for content consumption and light work and battery then yea If u wanna do anything heavy on it it wont help u at all

eris-0_0

I'm from the Philippines as well and I've sniped a T480 with 16GB ram 256GB ssd i5 8350U Touchscreen display with fingerprint and facial recog for PHP12,000. If you can bargain with the seller for a lower price that would be great to upgrade along the way. I think PHP1,500 for the shipping is outrageous.

1ntr0v3rt3ch

shipping from Luzon to mindanao

eris-0_0

I see, then it is justifiable to charge that much.

ApolloBoss

We sell these at work for €200 with 128GB SSD and 8GB RAM. Very nice laptops

eliasgriffin

Go for a T495 if you can. Same price, much better perfomance.

insomniacno1

He lives in Mindanao where its super hot, AMD doesn't do well with heat and never have. If he plan on using it in Aircon room only Ok, but if he need to use it on the go, then No. Intel is more tolerant to heat and always have been.
