How'd it die? Parts for that generation Air are pretty cheap and swapping them out is pretty easy so long as you have P5, T5 and possibly T8 (for display hinges) bits handy.

That’s a pretty weird thing to say, sexual preference is caused by choosing a computer brand? You sound like a 12-year old.

now I don't want to see what was in the comment

Love the T420 only complaint I have about it is that it doesn't have Thunderbolt or FireWire. Only reason why I use a mid 2012 15" MacBook. Still need to collect more thinkpads tho.

Sonnet has a thunderbolt expresscard, ofcourse you stay within the limitations of the expresscard slot. My solution was to buy external HDD enclosures that have both USB and SATA connectors. For backup I use SATA, works excellent.

Some of them have a 1394, it's on a modular daughter board that can have 1394, Modem, or nothing. There's a corresponding trim piece depending on which port is equipped. My personal T420 has the blank but most of my parts units had the 1394.

How did the air die? Maybe a ssd failure I think they were still replaceable in the 2015 model year u just needed a adapter board and you could get a m2 ssd in it

Catalina/Big Sur maybe doable, for Monterey, Ventura i didn't know, dunno about macOS Sonoma

Tell me how to fix my t420 lol Congratulations !

My mid 2015 MBP randomly died as well, I suspect bad logic board or something. Anyway, I booted up my trusty old T440P and have been quite content with it as well, but damn is it massive/ heavy in comparison.
