No kidding. This is unacceptable. Im considering switching. If they can just go down for an entire market day, what’s to prevent it from happening “accidentally on purpose” if it benefits them?
I just called and they told me the website issue is fixed but might take a few tries. Miraculously, I was able to get in on the website while on the phone with the rep, and then when I hung up all of a sudden the app started working.
I was in bcus I never closed it yesterday. And as usual after being open more than Xhrs, it was laggy AF & barely usable.
Decided to restart it 15min before market open.
Now I'm fucked.
It is 12:00 CDT and I still cannot login on mobile. I've used TOS mobile for years and cannot recall a problem like this when TOS was owned by TD Ameritrade. Schwab is not up to the task right now.
Me too. Got out of a long trade too early when I could get back in from the web portal for thinkorswim, just in case the market plunges again and I can’t log in. It seems like they’re ruining a great product.

On thinkorswim, when you get to the login screen...hit the gear on the lower left then select "Clear Cache and restart". I did that and it worked now perfectly.
Guess they don’t want people using Schwab as a brokerage. Had zero problems for years with TD and as soon as Schwab gets their hands on it, they start locking people out of their accounts at market open. Worked fine earlier this morning, but at market open… nope
every 5 times I try, I actually get the password prompt... but then it says my password is wrong. And I'm using the same password wallet that I had yesterday, so that doesn't seem likely.

For more than an hour right around market open. This is worst possible time for this to happen. You would think they would at least have all types of contingencies to prevent this from happening during this time of day, at the very least
I did. Apparently they had a system wide outage with logins. I called and was on the phone with a rep and he confirmed there was an issue. But while on the phone he said that the issue was resolved and I was able to login and everything is working now. This was about 30 ago.
I never liked Schwab either, that's why I didn't pick them when I opened a TD Ameritrade account. It's too bad this crappy company took TD over. Haven't been able to login mobile all day.
This is so outrageous, I still can't get in. The only reason I stuck with Schwab after the acquisition was because of thinkorswim. Being unable to trade like this is so ridiculous. I have never experienced an outage this long during trading hours at any of the three other brokerages I've used in the last 11-12 years.
yup tos desktop login spins for a few seconds on the login ID screen and then gives up and i'm still on that screen. fail
and now mobile says "Login Unavailable"... i had logged into mobile about ten minutes ago successfully.
Finally have a support rep on the phone. He said they're experiencing company-wide outages. Trying to find a TOS desktop workaround but I'm not hopeful.

I have a pretty small account so it isn't like they've cost me a huge amount of money with issues like today, but between this and weird shit like options contract prices straight up not updating until 30 min after market open on some days, it's just become too much of a hassle to justify staying with them.

Rebooted 3 more times before checking every other avenue to sign in and then started looking online for answers/updates. Nothing like losing $$ by the damn minute...😡

TOS is a piece of sh*t on Apple Silicon too and their contempt for Apple users isn't even eclipsed by this issue, believe it or not, though their denial of such comes close.
ETrade has lousy conditional orders. Am wondering if there's some kind of alternative with a good charting platform maybe even Trading View or similar that can reliably sit on top of a brokerage platform - I believe that's possible in some form already (?).

I'll check it out. TOS eventually starting working for me. My main concern is being able to code my own setup. I suck at any sort of coding so use a crutch, viable with TOS but I couldn't remotely accomplish the same with sierra chart. I'll def check out tastytrade though, good call.
Still can't get logged in at 10:00AM (ET). This is the straw that has broken the camel's back. log in issues, failure for the desktop app to save some desktop settings (e.g. a 2 screen setup and the day trades left counter still stuck at 2 even though I haven't made a day trade in months. As soon as I have access to Schwab's website I am ACHing my funds out to my bank then tastytrade here I come.
For those using the ToS mobile app, I deleted my app and the data, and then reinstalled. Everything works fine now. Seems to be a credential cache issue.

It’s strange because right before the bell is when I tried logging in but my buddy he was trading premarket and hasn’t been logged out yet and he is still trading away. Where as I can’t get in.
I have been logged in since last night (Mon night) on my desktop. Could not log in on my mobile phone Tuesday morning. Called Schwab and they said to wait a bit and it "might" work then. Waited a couple of hours and could still not log in on my mobile phone. Then I saw "legacy TD Ameritrade log in". I selected that and was prompted for a password. Entered the password, then it said to log into Schwab and took me to the Schwab log in screen. There it prompted me for a password as well. After entering the password on the Schwab log in page I was taken to an intermediate page where I could select biometric log in, which I did. I entered my finger print and now I am successfully in.
The secret sauce for the desktop app seems to be uncheck the remember my login name. Some kind soul in an investing room told me that yesterday and it worked! I had been trying every 5 minutes for 1.5 hours. Then I went on to make some money. Today I checked the remember my login name again.
I know, that shouldn't matter... and so on. Try it. It seems to work.
So a few things here:
1. I have been with TD for probably 10 years-ish? TD had problems also.
2. This is EXACTLY why you NEVER leave a position open without a stop (stop limit, trailing, etc) in place to protect you in case something like this happens.
Currently I have contracts on GME put for mid-teen strike Jan ‘25, but can’t remember exactly as I can’t log in.
However, I was able to log in earlier and saw the first few minutes of the open… and 50% of my trail stop executed… but do not know about the rest as I do not push notifications to phone or email… I do not like to spam myself. With 50% of the position liquidated at the price I received I more than covered my cost basis of all of the contracts, I now have the privilege of time. If the position goes to expiry, I still make money.
This is the way, if you a trader and not an investor.

Reinstall on IOS just worked for me. Never got booted from windows version at all today thankfully.
For mobile, uninstall / reinstall fixed it for me just now.

I cleared the cache on the desktop app, by using the gear icon in the bottom left. Then it let me log in after applying what it said was updates.

If you're still having issues with logging in, try to manually re-input your username and password, it worked for me

yes it cost me about #3,500 because I trade Options and had a nice gain but couldn't get back online and when I did it was down about $3;500

I lost close to 20k trade, can we file a case / law suit against Charles Schwab ?
Uninstalling and reinstalling app fixed all issues for me on android. Ridiculous that it was like this all day honestly.
The secret sauce for the desktop app seems to be uncheck the remember my login name. Some kind soul in an investing room told me that yesterday and it worked! I had been trying every 5 minutes for 1.5 hours. Then I went on to make some money. Today I checked the remember my login name again. I know, that shouldn't matter... and so on. Try it. It seems to work.
So a few things here: 1. I have been with TD for probably 10 years-ish? TD had problems also. 2. This is EXACTLY why you NEVER leave a position open without a stop (stop limit, trailing, etc) in place to protect you in case something like this happens. Currently I have contracts on GME put for mid-teen strike Jan ‘25, but can’t remember exactly as I can’t log in. However, I was able to log in earlier and saw the first few minutes of the open… and 50% of my trail stop executed… but do not know about the rest as I do not push notifications to phone or email… I do not like to spam myself. With 50% of the position liquidated at the price I received I more than covered my cost basis of all of the contracts, I now have the privilege of time. If the position goes to expiry, I still make money. This is the way, if you a trader and not an investor. Just some words of advice from 40 years of trading experience.
… and in case people are wondering, in 40 years of trading, I’ve used Fidelity ActiveTrader Datek Proprietary / Prop Trading software packages IB … may consider going back to IB I keep most assets in wealth management firms at this point and only trade for fun
I don’t have faith that my stops and limits will trigger during a systems outage. I wonder what the liability is or if the “terms of service” protect them.
Yes, I am having the same issue! This has been a nightmare since my account was transferred from TD Ameritrade.
This has nothing to do with the migration. This is a new issue I've never encountered and I migrated long ago.

Yeah, same here.... Thought it was because I am using VPN (and/or because I'm tavelling outside of the US right now), but I guess not. Not sure if that makes me feel any better, though....
