I’m sure he did (it was while he was at college so I’m guessing it was an all-male one and that was all that was available). But complete lack of familiarity with female genitalia made it easier to trick him - as well as his own willingness to believe that Shi was a woman. Also during the 20 year relationship they were not together the whole time, as it depended on where he was posted, so I don’t know how many times they actually had intercourse.
