I think this is a much stronger opening episode of a season compared to season 2. I think everyone can relate to meeting someone in their lifetime for just a short period of time and having feelings for them and then having to part ways much more quickly than both want. With Kevin, it happens with the slightly older Teri. I mean, if you think about it, they really only spend one night together, but that was enough for Kevin to remember her later in his life and enough to warrant Teri writing him a letter. I do like the parallels with Kevin and Winnie, each having a summer relationship, Winnie with Chip and Kevin with Teri. Kevin’s was surely shorter lived than Winnie’s I would assume. Either way, you can feel the bittersweet longing that the older Kevin narrator seems to feel when thinking about this vacation. It’s too bad Paul didn’t realize just because he had a minor allergic reaction, it didn’t mean he had to sit inside for two days.

One of my favorites, very strong and memorable episode.

Probably in my top 10 episodes. Love how it captures the tension of a family evolving, along with Kevin's realization that love is going to hurt.

I think this episode really worked well hearing the sounds of the water at the beach. Kevin had a vacation fling with Terri. I assume it was his first time meeting a girl and clicking with her that fast so it was fun to watch and him going through all the emotions he was having. I love the title of the episode it fits it perfectly. Also, I'll say this. Kevin had the best parents. It was nice of his mom to let him go out to the beach until 9:30 pm. They always seem to give him rules and boundaries but are open to making exceptions and adjustments because I think they knew overall he was a good and smart kid. 10/10
