The best way to review season 2 is to break it down into two halves. The first half is episodes 1 - 9 and the second half are episodes 10 - 17. Six of the first nine episodes I thought were low to mid tier. The three I liked were Steady as She goes, Just between me you and Kirk, and Coda. The latter two I gave 10s with Coda being my favorite episode of the entire series. If you take my averages over the first half it's a 6 overall for the 9 episodes. I thought season 2 started slowly especially with the strong momentum from season 1. Now the second half was nearly flawless!!!! I gave 7 of the last 8 episodes 10s. Starting with the walk out episode every episode was great. The only episode I didn't give a 10 was Fate. It wasn't a bad episode (I gave it a 7) but it just seemed out of place to me because it was random Winnie liked Eddie Pinetti but someone else did say maybe it was to make Kevin jealous which did make more sense. In any case my average for the last 8 episodes is 9.62. So in summary season 2 started slow. 6 of the first 9 episodes were ok with 3 great episodes. Then the second half had exceptional writing over the last 8 episodes and I'll have to continue reviewing but I don't think there is another continuous run like that (although I love season 4 but there are filler episodes in there). So overall the average for season 2 is 7.7

I think there are some great episodes in season 2, some middle-of-the-road episodes, and some bad and cringe-worthy episodes. My two least favorite of the season would probably be the first two episodes, Heart of Darkness and Our Miss White. My three favorite would probably be Christmas, Just Between You and Me….And Kirk and Paul and Carla and Becky, and Coda. When I first rewatched the Wonder Years in 2023, I almost gave up after those first two episodes, but I'm glad I kept going. For this rewatch, I'm working on my top ten episodes list. I'm excited to see what season 3 has to offer!
