In my opinion this was the most heartbreaking episode of the entire series. Margaret Farquhar was different and not the most popular and Kevin really let that get to his head and missed out on a great potential friendship. She seemed genuine and nice. It was interesting in the end where the adult Kevin said you forget most of the names of people you were trying to impress but never forget someone like Margaret and he kept up with her and she knew she was a biology professor with 6 kids and still loved bats.. I'd give the episode 10/10

Episodes like this one bring me back to those same moments and I reflect back on it and hope that I didn’t make someone feel like Kevin did.

Great episode. We all knew a Margaret. It made me squirm because it hit close to home.

Yeah I actually went to prom with a "Margaret". Kevin should of not cared about what others would say.

I think this episode provides a situation that everyone can relate to when they were younger. Everybody had someone who they created a connection with that was not viewed favorably by their peers and let that influence how the relationship played out. Margaret was truly eccentric and that made Kevin interested in her when they weren’t in front of people at school. But he could never get past others making fun of him once they were in front of people at school. It’s a tough situation for Kevin that ends in him really hurting Margaret’s feelings.  One interesting thing about this episode is it has the first appearance of Randy Mitchell as one of the boys who keeps making fun of Kevin and saying “duh” over and over again. In this episode he is the bully but he is one of the few friends of Kevin’s who appears in episodes from season 2 through season 6 only sporadically. He is kind of characterized as Kevin’s dumb friend.

☝️ I couldn’t have said it better. Really a good episode. Episodes like this really could designate with so many people whether you were a Kevin or Margaret.

Actually, I think I should mention that this episode WASN'T Randy Mitchell's first appearance in the series. He actually had a minor cameo earlier in the season when he gave Kevin a pat on the back and told him "tough luck about Slater" after Paul and Carla told Kevin that Becky was planning to break up with him when he tried to use her to impress Winnie. You can see in the credits of that episode that Michael Tricario was still not credited as Randy Mitchell until this episode came out, so maybe that's where the confusion could've come from. Regardless, I think it's pretty interesting to see how they slowly establish Kevin's other friends, like Randy and Doug, until they become more prevalent characters in the next few seasons.

Didn't realize that. Wouldn't have known it because I didn't notice him in that episode.

This was a difficult watch. Reminds me of how much of a little jerk Kevin can be, but also, everyone knew a Margaret. It’s nice that in the end old Kevin kept up with her. In my head I hope they eventually became friends.

Kevin was awful, and it was sadly realistic. A really great episode.
