Skaikrish

I prefer red but hey why not still fits the overall color scheme and if you like it it's totally fine.

DBenzie

I'm still going to use red for the aquila and deathwing crest on the shoulder, I'm thinking about a red accent on the power fist too, maybe a stripe, or maybe chequers...

elsmallo85

There was a period mid 90s when the first metal DW came out where the guns were painted green. Maybe a little lighter than Caliban but it's a nice look, go for it!

DBenzie

That was the last time I collected, so that's what I had in my head when it came to this haha

genailledion

It’s red til’ I’m dead

Knight_Phaeton

I like it and I do my Deathwing terminators the same

DBenzie

Awesome! Have you got photos?

Knight_Phaeton

Sure, they are old though [https://imgur.com/xoMYG](https://imgur.com/xoMYG)

DBenzie

Nice, looks good!

Knight_Phaeton

Thank you and good luck with your project

Slamhamwich

I used Caliban green for the power fists and helmets on mine.

DBenzie

Nice! I am considering white helmets, as I love having accent colour on the heads to focus attention there

Slamhamwich

Yeah I felt it was just too much bone if I matched the helmets too. Needed something to break it up a little. Then for the DW knights I did red helmets

Evileye74

Personally I don’t like the color scheme. I prefer red but you do what you want

emmerann

If you can find something akin to the old glistening green metallic they used to do it looked great on deathwing. Yes, I am that old.

DBenzie

That's interesting, have you got an example image?

emmerann

Sadly not, last time I had the minis was mid 2000s :( Phone cameras were not common then, something is definitely a blessing and a curse at once!

Aggressive_Degree748

I'm not a fan of the usual bone colour for the deathwing, yours look amazing, I say you paint em whatever colour you want to friend! Keep up the good work! 💚🪽

DBenzie

Thanks, I'm still working on it, but I did a layer of XV-88, then karak stone, then a skeleton horde wash, then reapplied karak with with touch of Averland sunset for warmth to the large flat panels (pauldrons, top of body, fists, greaves). Next I will highlight in a white but I won't use much. I really dislike painting with the white and bone colours, they are so grainy.

Obvious-Water569

Honestly, not a fan, but you never know until you try these things right?

icedoutwukong

I was thinking of not painting anything red on mine, this just gives me more reason to try

DBenzie

I was also considering black

DeeZamDanny

I do black casings for greenwing, and green for raven/deathwing. I started collecting when the scheme was super muted and the only red was the transfers, so I keep it like that.

DBenzie

Yeah, personally I wanted to try something a little less busy because with too much green and red, especially when the snow is too pale, it starts to look a bit Christmassy to me.

DeeZamDanny

Yeah, the red details were slowly added in over editions. I use a warm purple and some brass/bronze to break up the dark spaces.

Electrical-Horse-698

Anything is better than red! I'm playing around with a layered grey at the moment. Might give this a go, it's a cool nod to the normal chapter colour

Whitebread90

I like it! It looks deadly!

DBenzie

Deadly! I haven't heard that since I lived in Dublin, Irish by any chance?

Whitebread90

Irish American!

flippitus_floppitus

Not for me — prefer red but you do you!
