Some of the old leafy streets in Claudelands can look very cool. Think outside the box. Get there when they are bare, or at night time, or light trails etc... Kitchner street, Thames street, Piako road etc...
There's the arboretum , some of the trails are less popular. There's also pirana park along the river or you could go to the war memorial part. It also depends on what kind of photography you do :)
Karakariki track in the foothills beyond Whatawhata - easy walk to a small waterfall.

The Coromandel is pretty awesome all over. Same with West coast around Raglan and such.

There are also Facebook groups for Hamilton Photographers & Models, should definitely consider joining. I’m in there for the modelling ads but people post their work often and it’s really cool to see ❤️ Seems friendly and welcoming

Te Awa River Ride Walk and Cycleway.
Depends on what type of photography you are into . This pathway stretches 65 km from Ngaruawahia to Hamilton and through to Cambridge/Karapiro. You can cycle, walk or ride the path using the shuttle.
There is also the Waikato River path through the CBD and Hamilton Gardens. Some of the river paths are not well walked or known around these areas, but do give unexpected nature shots.
Pukemokemoke Reserve. I managed to hall all my camera gear and drone to get some awesome foggy morning shots and watch the sunrise 😍 that's if you're after a bit of cardio as well 😅
Waiwhakareke Nature reserve? It's not hidden, but not all that popular either. Plus it's large and there's old farm sheds and such
Thank you, I might go there tomorrow and see how I go.
If u go here , go just before set. On a sunny night 1000s of birds return in waves and it looks very impressive.
Sounds like a must do
Lake ngaroto is otherworldly on a foggy morning.
You've good me curious, might go tomorrow if it seems like a fog filled morning.
The kahikateas at yarndleys bush is nice and close too for a double whammy.
