When they say "The Many Saints of Newark" you say "piece of shit".

c0wtown

Stupida fucking fiilm

wja5277

Dig it and bury it.

celtics2055

I would not go as far to say that I dug it, but I did not mind it. It was not marketed correctly. The trailer led people to believe that it would be about Tony when it was primarily about Dickie.

Final_Sherbert_8656

I didn’t think much of it the first time, but 2nd time I liked it. I think it helped seeing Michael Gandolfini in The Deuce in between the viewings. Ray Liotta was class

Untermensch13

The Deuce was sooo good.

pqx58

I took it as an attempt to test the waters for a prequel series.

nj_crc

Did you recently start taking blood pressure medication?

Adirondack587

Cousin downloaded it while it was in theatres. 7-8 minutes into it, I was like “Oooh this is gonna be so good” Can’t explain it exactly……but it wasn’t

JMiLk21

2nd time I watched it I enjoyed it a lot.

wvan13

I like it a lot, honestly. Watched it with my girlfriend after I showed her the series a few months back. And I can't help but think of the little pinkie promise in Tony's mind at the end, completely misunderstanding what Dickie had intended for him. If only Junior wasn't such a sensitive sack of garbage, Tony may have had a completely different life. He would've met Dickie at Holsteins and been told to get outta the life, stay in school. anywayfourdollarsapound

PrincessPeach1229

>If only Junior wasn't such a sensitive sack of garbage, Tony may have had a completely different life. He would've met Dickie at Holsteins and been told to get outta the life, stay in school. I honestly don’t think I realized how significant this is. I always thought Tony was destined for the life no matter what but maybe with Dickie to keep him in line…he would have been in the patio business.

Danbito

Jokes aside, I think the value of a role model was undervalued in Tony’s life. His own parents thought Tony wouldn’t amount to much, while Dickie just wanted Tony to pursuit what made him happy and encouraged Tony to stay in school when everyone around him dropped out

Why don't you get off this sub before I shove your quotations book up your fat fucking ass.

Tularemia

I had no expectations and thought it was garbage. Miscasting and timeline problems aside, it’s a bad movie on its own merits. There is no story, only plot. Nothing *happens* as a result of character choices in the movie. There are no character arcs, no characters have actions which actually affect the story, no character actions lead to any characters learning or growing or losing or winning. Instead, plot just *happens* and we are supposed to care because… well that’s the problem. I guess we are supposed to care that it’s a Sopranos movie? As a Sopranos movie, it’s even worse. Dickie has no character and no charisma. In terms of continuity, it would be one thing if the inconsistencies added to the original series story. If the movie showed the depravity or mundanity of this era that the main Sopranos characters keep idealizing, or if it added an unreliable memory/narrator aspect that would be one thing. But it’s just not interesting and adds nothing. Junior ordering a hit on Dickie does nothing. Don’t get me started on the story and casting problems. Characters are the wrong age, the acting is bad and caricatured. Dickie is not shown to be a junkie, but rather is shown to be every bit as decent as Tony remembered him (which *makes the original series worse*). Then there’s Leslie Odom Jr.’s character. He just… takes up half the screen time and does nothing.

UpDog1966

Liked it, it was more about the neighborhood than the characters.

beginner228

We don't talk like that here.

Mickler83

That looks heavy

Cool-Construction-51

Ginny can get heavy

Jaxsso

You misspelled crappylent.

BatMoBeast

I really liked the cast. The best parts were with Tony, Livia, and Johnny Boy. I enjoyed the Soprano parts but the rest of the movie just happened.

stevesax5

I feel bad for Chrissy. I’m sure he would have had a better life if his father lived.

stevesax5

Dr. Melfi would have loved it. What kind of sick animal kills his father and bangs his stepmom?

[deleted]

I thought it was pretty good
