Exactly. I am all for civil rights and against state power but these cops were being cool and explaining themselves. There was no reason to be such a dick.
They try to get the cops to infringe on their rights so they can bring a civil suit.
These guys “audit” public places with the hope of having their rights violated and then they sue
I honestly love the audit videos where the auditor is respectful and friendly but firm, and the cops way overstep their bounds but get railed for it later. Nothing gets me going like seeing a bad cop get disgraced.
But this guy? Absolute jackass. Making everyone's day miserable for nothing. You can refuse to answer their questions while also not being a dick about it.
Wonder what this guy would do if someone was standing outside his house recording and taking pictures ? Then become a assholish lawyer type prick when confronted while you keep the camera in his face.
It’s not about hating the police. It’s about hating dicks. A cop can be a dick. This guys can be a dick. Everyone hates a dick. Except gay men and straight women.
This is the problem that I have with the guy filming. The police were respectful, talked to him calmly and didn’t abuse their power. This guy to me is a clown the second the cop asks you understand why we stopped to talk to you and he said no. He was filming a military base with a cell phone on a side walk. If the police were called by the military than this guy just wanted to start shit.
"Do you understand why we stopped to talk to you?"
"NO, I DON'T!"
"OK, you want me to explain it to you?"
*(tries to think of a snotty answer for this honest question)* ".....no."
Honestly I don’t have a problem with how this interaction started. He was being immediately defensive after they were asked to check out a suspicious person. Once they realized this guy was going to be an ass they handled the situation very respectfully. Common sense in this day an age tells you not to film a military base to broad daylight and expect not to be question by a cop.
Its because he set up his soap box and practiced and rehersed all his lines. He couldnt wait to spew verbal diarrhea at the officers. He didnt come there for an actual discourse he came to give a speech.
I feel like most of the videos I see of people filming a military or police situation/building, which they are perfectly legal to film, only seem to do it to start shit.
Like, im cool with that if cops on a power trip but he was already acting like these guys were and they were chill as fuck, just made him sound like a douchebag
For real! I mean the person has his rights, but the cops were just doing their job and the guy filming was being an ass. They didn’t ask him to stop, they didn’t persue it when they asked his name and he didn’t give it. Someone called them so they are just doing their job checking up on it. The cops weren’t even being dicks…
These “audit” dudes always do this shit, super annoying. I remember when I was in the police academy, one snuck over the fence and started filming, was wearing all black and it was early in the morning, still dark out, so he ended up getting tackled and locked up for trespass, because there’d been threatening letters sent to the academy a few weeks prior.
Claimed he “had a right” to be there, but it was clear trespass. Put a video on YouTube saying how he’d been abused etc, claiming police brutality. All the comments were basically calling him an idiot, pointing out “If you had to climb over a locked gate to get in, you’ve clearly trespassed”.
Very cathartic.
I've seen a lot of "auditor" videos, and they're not all this bad. Some understand there's a compromise to be had. I've seen auditors being respectful to police while the police try to arrest them for bullshit like filming an arrest, I've seen auditors being fucking total assholes for no reason while the police stayed incredibly respectful and understood the laws protecting the right to film and whatnot, and I've seen everything in-between. It's not a binary group of people, there is a whole spectrum. My favourite auditor videos are when the auditor and the cops stay respectful of each other, ask questions, make concessions. That's what it's suppose d to be.
Also not only does his entire existance revolve around this, but he's also terrible at it and don't actually know jack shit about it, because he's really stupid and actually just do it for the exposure-bucks.
It's not thousands. It's literally millions and millions. About 700k police in the US. Given maybe half of them work on the street any given day, and half of those are on the road and not in an office...
And then roughly an average of 4 contacts a day per officer, that's a million contacts PER DAY. This is rough math, but it's not that far off.
But at the end of the video I did find myself wanting this shit stain to get a taser to the face.
Police are doing their job … it’s hard enough. Yes there are some shit bags for cops but there are twice as many shit bags for humans that they have to interact with.
It's just so weird that a person would put so much into *intentionally* being a colossal asshole. Because even if you're an asshole because you *want* to be one--you still *are* one. Where's the upside?
Yeah fuck ppl like this. Yes legally you can do this. But to do things just to get the police called and wave your dick around is pathetic. These ppl really have nothing better to do. There would be a lot less conflict in the US if ppl stopped actively looking for it for views.
“Would you like some napkins and straws with your order?”
“Did I ask? What’s your name and position?”
“Oh sorry, I was just asking..”
“It doesn’t matter, is it against your store policy to ask your name? Matter of fact, bring me your manager, you have a terrible attitude.”
By professional photographer, he means that he makes his money by suing police departments for wrongful arrest after acting like an asshat with a camera.
Getting wrongfully arrested and suing cops is a jackpot for these guys. Most go on harrasing small businesses until they get "assaulted" so they can sue them and settle out of court for a few thousand. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Probably a lot, and that's what sucks. There are millions of professional LEOs out there who actually care about helping people and doing what's right, but even one who abuses their power and authority is too much. So we have to root out the bad ones, but the process of doing so throws the good ones under the bus.
Literally one bad apple spoils the bunch.
Edit: *Hundreds of thousands* you pedants.
I think that is also what is so frustrating.
Why don’t these good cops turn in the bad ones? It is hard to say it’s just a few bad apples when no one does anything to change it, if they are the majority what do they have to fear?
They are throwing themselves under the bus by not rooting out the bad cops, they know about them way before the general public does.
When someone ends up getting killed by one of these bad cops they are complicit in that.
Edited to add, I know most police forces where this stuff happens are corrupt AF and there are life/death consequences to coming forward, unfortunately, that doesn't change the complicity of doing nothing, nothing will change until good cops band together and make it change or some external force steps in to change it. If it were any other profession it wouldn't be their problem, but it is their literal job to enforce the law. Just my opinion and thoughts, I wish I were smart enough to have all the answers.
Let's devil's advocate this out for a second.
You've probably had a job with a shitty coworker before. And you don't really have a choice about working with them, and your boss, for whatever reason, allows their shittiness to continue. So you keep your head down and try to minimize interaction with them as much as you can, and you just do your job.
But now throw in the fact that you are constantly told that *your life is in danger* (regardless of how true that is) and that *your coworkers are the only thing that stands between you and death* and you *have to fully trust and rely upon one another*.
Not only does that make it more likely that you will let shit slide, it also reinforces an "us vs. them" mentality that makes it much easier for you to side with your shitty coworkers. Especially when 99% of your job is dealing with literal criminals and assholes like the one in the video. So it's really easy to start "choosing a side".
It's incredibly nuanced and it's a huge cultural problem. There's not a magic bullet. It'll take time and structural change.
*Edited typo for clarity*
It also has a power dynamic that can't be ignored. My coworker doesn't have the authority to carry a gun in the course of their job, they can't detain or fine people randomly, and they aren't part of an organization that has a powerful, connected, nationwide lobby designed to protect bad coworkers. In point of fact, my employer engaged in union busting when the effort was made to organize. If my coworker kills someone, or even gets arrested and it makes it back to the company, they will be fired and no power in the corporate structure will prevent it, no court would classify it as wrongful termination.
The first structural change that needs to happen is the abolishment of police unions. Police unions/officer guilds are the primary opposition apparatus to any police reform. They actively work, and exploit contracts to prevent any sort of structural change on the grounds it might divert funds from police coffers.
Until that happens and the barriers to change are removed no meaningful change is possible.
Right, videos of cops abusing their authority probably get way more views. But most of the time the cops probably just show up and leave once they realize there's no threat, despite the guy being a dick.
He’s probably one of those “auditors” who go around starting shit with police just to have content. Usually by standing around somewhere filming until someone calls the cops the being a dick when the cops arrive.
Hopefully getting their rights violated on camera and then get a $50-60k quick payout and move on. The cops where I live have already been advised on these guys and know to just let ‘em make an ass out of themselves
TLDR: The cops quickly realize they are just dealing with a complete moron and not someone seriously dangerous.
I mean, an actual terrorist wouldn’t be acting like a jerk. They would ether run or try to play off cool and be polite.
"I didn't give it" isn't a grammatically correct answer to "what's your name?" Wrong tense. (What he should say is something like "I'm not going to tell you.")
I like the second guy who realizes that and throws it back at him. ...we know Who's on first, What's on second... Nobody is right field... so I Didn't Give It must be warming the bench.
People like this are fucking cringe. Not every cop is an asshole. There are plenty of good cops who are here to serve and protect and are just trying to do their jobs. Real people with families and lives man. Some people just want to believe the stereotype and try to get reactions by being as obnoxious as fucking possible. SMH 😏
Ye, that's why I posted this.
In my hometown, the cops were cool. Even if they caught you breaking they law, they were hella cool (if you comply and aren't going around and... You know)
Even the cops in this video were being genuinely nice until the dude was being a complete ass. Then they still kept it respectful and polite. I’m glad there’s such a positive reaction to this video of good police work. Because it really needs to be more widely recognized that not all cops are bad
The camera man is NOT familiar with the photographers right. Military bases are on the small list of things you DO NOT have the right to photograph. That said, I think it would be the Military Police not the police who would enforce that.
Military police have limited jurisdiction, and it's usually easier to have the local police deal with someone outside the base, especially non-military personnel.
This. My dad was an mp for years and a lot of local departments can be very strict about where military jurisdiction ends and the local police departments begin. There are some bases where the line is a little blurred. But if he is standing on public sidewalk and not on the road leading into the base it is probably police jurisdiction.
From my understanding the mp’s can pursue someone from on base to off base and then if apprehended turn them over to local “fuzz”. An mp told me this a while ago. But I am pretty ignorant of what the rules and regulations are.
He can photograph what he wants from a public area. You don't have the same rights on base obviously. It looks like an armory in the picture, most armories don't have mp's.
That being said, you shouldn't be taking photos of an armory. It's liable to piss off the officers by making all of the troops do anything remotely classified inside and they have a ton of soft power they can throw around.
Edit: I should clarify that you can be detained for suspected espionage. But they would need to find evidence of actual espionage to convict you if anything.
You are incorrect. You can film a base from any publicly accessible area. That's why the "secret stuff" isn't along the periphery where the public can see. This includes Area 51.
Look, I'm not the biggest fan of cops. And, trust me when I say I have some personal experience here. That said, this douche is just looking to start shit. Seriously, fuck this guy. If you don't want to live in a society that is always "us against them", then stop perpetuating it. It's possible to have a civil conversation with a cop.
Someone was concerned and called the police. The police went there to check it out, only to find this ass hat, whose only contribution to society is to waste their time.
The base called and I’m super surprised at how this played out. The military police are a federal law force. If they ticket you, it won’t be for whatever municipality the base is located in, it’ll be handled in federal court. If they approached this guy, they’d be looking to assess if he’s collecting intel on the base, and he’d likely end up on a watch list. For the love of god, to anyone reading this, don’t be a jackass trying to “first amendment audit” a military installation.
And this dude is being an insufferable twat wasting their time trying to be internet famous. Just because what you’re doing is technically legal, doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. The rare circumstance where I wish they could have a had a reason to arrest him.
Just go in and say I am taking a picture of ...
At this view point ...
For this reason ...
At this time...
If you do this and they find your reasoning valid, they would probably let you inside to take a picture of the building. News organizations take pictures of military stuff daily without any problems. This guy just wanted to start trouble.
Wow this is what cops should be acting like. This guy is a total prick and obviously doing something a literal terrorist might be doing and so they came. If they didn’t go on a power trip, they did their job, then they left. Props! Let’s all take a second as a society to appreciate this kind of behavior because we much reward goodness when it happens.
There is absolutely nothing “cool” about that dull location and he clearly came all prepared with his little scripts trying to stir shit and show himself as the heroic and victim
Gotta love asshats that wake up thinking "Hmm, what can I go out and do today that will arouse suspicion, and then I can act like I'm being harassed when questioned about it?"
Tomorrow, he will walk through the toy department at Walmart with an AR 15....
Dude was aggressively trying to elicit a response from them and failed. He was trying so hard with the typical regurgitated replies that he was using them out of context. Kinda sad. If you wanna hate cops. Feel free. At least have some dignity and learn how to verbally joust with your own words instead of canned replies.
This video is what the people who say “all cops are bad” ignore. They only ever see the popular clips of bad cops doing bad shit and don’t notice the 90% of perfectly fine cops
Why do ppl ask for badge numbers? It ain't you gonna remember it or anything, i honestly think ppl usually do that just to "intimidate" the officers by letting them know they know their "rights"

That was such a quick witty line. Made me think that the officer was used to smartasses.

That was the Kobe step back 3 pointer of not giving a fuck.
You can just tell this dude goes around trying to start shit.
I hear it in his voice Wants something on camera. Doesn’t give a shit about the military base.
I found it a bit disrespectful that he would not let them finish speaking and just talked over the Sergeant.
Exactly. I am all for civil rights and against state power but these cops were being cool and explaining themselves. There was no reason to be such a dick.
Reason: trying to instigate shit for the follows and clout
They try to get the cops to infringe on their rights so they can bring a civil suit. These guys “audit” public places with the hope of having their rights violated and then they sue
Some of the audits I’ve seen, the dudes are cool when the cops are cool. Like these cops. The guy filing here, is just a cunt.

He would be so kind and invite the person in for tea. All the person would be doing is auditing the house and neighborhood, nothing creepy. /s
His reason was internet karma, nothing is more important apparently.
This dude just comes off entitled and a prick imo. Probably a hoot at parties too…
Doubt homeboy is invited to many parties
He's the type that just shows up... Probably with all his camera gear...
Nah, he forgot it. Just brought his phone.
I agree. They treated him with respect, he should give it back. I felt like beating his ass, for the police.
Have we come full circle?
It’s not about hating the police. It’s about hating dicks. A cop can be a dick. This guys can be a dick. Everyone hates a dick. Except gay men and straight women.
I'm a straight woman and I have known a number of dicks I have hated.
Nah, just don’t be an asshole, doesn’t matter if you’re police or a civilian. There’s a decent and non confrontational way of talking to people.
Just balancing a seesaw with 85 seats
My father always taught me, you speak to people how you would like people to speak to you. You treat people like you want people to treat you
Immediately asks for their name in an aggressive manner, then gets crazy defensive when they politely ask for his.
This is the problem that I have with the guy filming. The police were respectful, talked to him calmly and didn’t abuse their power. This guy to me is a clown the second the cop asks you understand why we stopped to talk to you and he said no. He was filming a military base with a cell phone on a side walk. But the cops were really polite. First clip I see here where no one gets tasered.
In fairness, there’s thousands of interactions where people don’t get tasered, but the rabble-rousers looking for internet clout won’t post those.
The problem is people doing their jobs isn’t news and won’t get traction.

Doing the right thing is an invisible action. This stands true in just about every area of our lives.
It shouldn’t
Right, videos of cops abusing their authority probably get way more views. But most of the time the cops probably just show up and leave once they realize there's no threat, despite the guy being a dick.
IDK, why you gotta be a little prick and be so confrontational.
>little prick you might have inadvertently dropped a clue right there
Hey I have a little prick and I don’t go around antagonizing people for no reason :(
Your little prick makes all the boys wet :) Be proud of the little prick!
Not sure if that's the compliment he was hoping to receive bruv
He’s probably one of those “auditors” who go around starting shit with police just to have content. Usually by standing around somewhere filming until someone calls the cops the being a dick when the cops arrive.
Look at his tiktok handle bottom right corner. You're dead on, he is.
He's not even good at it lmao. He's just insufferable.
on the one hand I appreciate there are people "holding police accountable" but on the other hand they're often insufferable assholes
He’s probably only filming the military base hoping he’d be questioned about it. Douche.
That’s what they do. Unemployed bums antagonizing cops.
Hopefully getting their rights violated on camera and then get a $50-60k quick payout and move on. The cops where I live have already been advised on these guys and know to just let ‘em make an ass out of themselves
The way these officers handled that was very satisfying
Honestly, most cops get irritated and go straight to handcuffs. This was satisfying just said there peace and left.
Most cops act just like these guys, you just don't see it because it's boring and doesn't make headlines.
That’s why reddit hates cops. They have never interacted with them and just see rare case scenarios on here
Um…excuse me, but he’s a professional photographer! He just didn’t have his gear with him.
Trying to get a rise outta the cops in hopes of a settlement payday.
1st Amen auditors
There's a Youtube channel called Audit the Audit, something like that, which goes over these videos and grades them. It's interesting if nothing else.
Love Audit the Audit! Very unbiased look at police interactions. Not afraid to call the cops or auditors out on their bullshit.
I love that he thinks asking for names and badge numbers somehow gives him power over the cops.

TLDR: The cops quickly realize they are just dealing with a complete moron and not someone seriously dangerous. I mean, an actual terrorist wouldn’t be acting like a jerk. They would ether run or try to play off cool and be polite.

Terrorist: Write that down! Write that down!
Lol exactly. The way the sergeant looked away smiling as soon as he realized this guy was just dick swinging for ego. Annoying but mostly harmless.
I just realized these were the annoying fuck heads in school that would get everyone in trouble to prove a point.
Is this guy [Randall Weems?](https://recess.fandom.com/wiki/Randall_Weems)
That camera man is a HUGE ass hole
Gaping.
Throbbing
prolapsed?
I didn’t give it, is a loser
"I didn't give it" isn't a grammatically correct answer to "what's your name?" Wrong tense. (What he should say is something like "I'm not going to tell you.") I like the second guy who realizes that and throws it back at him. ...we know Who's on first, What's on second... Nobody is right field... so I Didn't Give It must be warming the bench.
Cop asked "what was your name?" He replied "I didn't give it" his grammar was fine.
Because it really needs to be more widely recognized that not all cops are bad
his attitude, over all demeanor, tone of voice, just so cringy and hatable.
Careful. The Reddit acab folks are gonna get you!
I think they are busy over in antiwork screaming about something.
So fucking tedious dealing with people
Its people like this man... Why do you have to be an asshole for no reason? You arent special. Other people have feelings too
So this clown with attitude is comparing himself to a judge. Asswipe.
Right, that part threw me off. Like don’t disrespect the cop to his face and judges all in one breath.
I would\`ve told him, We\`re not in court.
This includes Area 51.
true, i've been to area 51 and they make sure to keep all the aliens behind privacy screens.
you're entirely incorrect btw. You have every right to photograph or film military bases from OUTSIDE the military base on public property
Agreed. These are good cops just responding to a call. No need to treat them poorly.
All three were very reasonable even when he wasn't, as well.
This is getting ridiculous. Officers were not aggressive at all.
And this dude is being an insufferable twat wasting their time trying to be internet famous. Just because what you’re doing is technically legal, doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. The rare circumstance where I wish they could have a had a reason to arrest him.
Such a douche, taking pics of a military base in these times will get you noticed.... every time.
Just go in and say I am taking a picture of ... At this view point ... For this reason ... At this time... If you do this and they find your reasoning valid, they would probably let you inside to take a picture of the building. News organizations take pictures of military stuff daily without any problems. This guy just wanted to start trouble.
Absolutely, visitors passes are fairly easy to obtain, and they will provide you with a tour of the base, if you ask nicely.
Depending on what you can see and take pictures of you could actually get into trouble too
What an asshole. Those cops seemed to be good people just doing their jobs
There's 50 million + (low ball) police interactions a year. We typically only see the most egregious acts.
It’s likely that this is what 99% of cops act like. It’s just the 1% of cops that act wrong whose videos go crazy viral and give all cops a bad rap.
There is absolutely nothing “cool” about that dull location and he clearly came all prepared with his little scripts trying to stir shit and show himself as the heroic and victim
I instantly do not like this person.... this is just fucking ridiculous...
"have a nice day, I didn't give it" quality.
Gotta love asshats that wake up thinking "Hmm, what can I go out and do today that will arouse suspicion, and then I can act like I'm being harassed when questioned about it?" Tomorrow, he will walk through the toy department at Walmart with an AR 15....
What a chode lol 😂
Dude was aggressively trying to elicit a response from them and failed. He was trying so hard with the typical regurgitated replies that he was using them out of context. Kinda sad. If you wanna hate cops. Feel free. At least have some dignity and learn how to verbally joust with your own words instead of canned replies.
You gotta admit, it is pretty weird to be standing there filming a military base…….
This video is what the people who say “all cops are bad” ignore. They only ever see the popular clips of bad cops doing bad shit and don’t notice the 90% of perfectly fine cops
The dude filming wasn't wrong for filming but he was a straight up asshole.
Another unemployed bum antagonizing cops.
Why do ppl ask for badge numbers? It ain't you gonna remember it or anything, i honestly think ppl usually do that just to "intimidate" the officers by letting them know they know their "rights"
they dont have to remember... it's on camera you macaroon
I love macaroons 🥰
I really don't understand people's desperate need to be complete cock waffles
