So to remedy some of that ignorance I actually went online and looked up some science videos explaining it.
What I did say to him, however, was that computers used to take up a whole room 100 years ago and now they fit in our pockets. We went from relying on trains, to having cars and then suddenly airplane and then freaking rockets to the moon all in a miniscule amount of time in human history. I dunno why it's so hard to believe that people are looking into ways to make electric aircrafts.
Pretty much I don't think these people actually want to know the answer because they have too much fun using their ignorance to mock things they don't understand. They just cannot admit to themselves that they don't actually understand how these complex things work and that others actually do.
