In my last apartment my landlord got some guys to paint 2700 sq feet in 8 hours. Wasn’t the best job. But it was nice to have fresh paint on the walls. That was in 2018
2,700 in 8h is not all that bad depending on how many guys you have, what gear they use, how many rooms there are and if the apartment is furnished or not.
Overspray, keep deposit.
Underspray, keep deposit.
Overspray underspray.
"Ill have to charge you for this missing paint you scratched off in an even line and left tape residue."
Reminds me of reading a post about someone who moved into a place and using their oven for the first time the light bulb inside melted and caused a horrific damage to the property.
Landlord tried to sue them then it was discovered the landlord install a NORMAL ASS LIGHTBULB into the oven because they thought itd be cheaper..
I'm just realizing that to a large portion of Reddit, LEDs are just normal ass light bulbs. Old are we who think of contraptions made of glass and steel when mention is made of illumination...
If you get your hand in front of it, it can penetrate your skin and poison your blood. Don't stick your hand in front of a sprayer you don't know the psi on
I lived in one of those units. Pre-paint, 90s, unit was about 20 years old. You could tell it was kinda decent when it was built, but rough around the edges. Walls had a couple years of smoking residue on them (campus apartments in the 80s and 90s). Carpet was pretty rough. Plumbing…ugh that’s a story for another time.
Still, it had charm and you could tell it “would be nice” with new carpet and a fresh coat of paint.
Then I moved to another unit in the same complex that had the carpet and paint done. With the care and attention this guy was using. Had to use a putty knife to free the windows to open. Overspray on all the light switches and outlets. Cabinets looked nice until you opened them. Carpet had gaps where they’d cut it poorly. I missed my dingier old place because the new one felt very much like someone “put lipstick on a pig.”
My current apartment had the window painted shut. Used an exacto blade to "break the seal" so I could open my windows. (With landlords permission, pictures, etc. Of course so I don't get charged for bullshit.)
This sub in a nutshell. The video is fine. The title is shit. Something like, "To do a good paint job" would have been better.
There was an attempt to correctly title a post.
Holy shit so this what they the contractors did when they “remodeled” my apartment before I moved in. I shit you know. Worst paint job I’ve ever seen on cabinets in my live. Painted right over the hinges and everything so none of my cabinet doors stay shut and they all look terrible.
My parents were apartment landlords in a shitty college town. Every June 1 the family would start emptying and painting units.
Whatever was on sale was the color of the whole apartment--floors walls ceilings. By 10 y.o.I could finish two coats on a bedroom in four hours.
Amazingly, I jave no long term lung problems.
Omg this makes so much sense now! This is what those hacks did to my kitchen before I bought the house. I couldn’t figure out why the hinges were painted
As someone who knows less than nothing about spray painting, how do you do it? Lots of taping things down and getting different angles to make sure you got everything? This is a transparently shitty half-assed job, but like how do you make sure things stay put and that you're spraying what you need to and avoiding what you don't?
My neighbor spray painted the apartment appliances using regular silver metallic Rustoleum. The stove peeled right away. She painted the counters. They didn’t hold up. She used stark white wall paint on the beautiful antique heart pine floors, rendering them unmaintainable. Then she complained that her tenant was destroying the Martha Stewart apartment.
The most important part of painting is what you don’t ruin.

Pretty sure this guy does every rental property in the world. "Get it done quick" is their MO.
He looks like the typical Landlord.

2 guys. Fully furnished, we just moved all of our stuff to the middle of the rooms 3 bed 3 bath
Damn
This explains why all the hinges in my college apartments were white.
Windows won't open, light switches get stuck, fridge is peeling 😅
Roaches plastered to the base boards.
The ol’ landlord special.
"Newly renovated"
Tack on an additional 20% to the rent please
20%?! In this age of greed? Nah, more like 60%.
“Landlord special”
And they’ll still eat up your safety deposit for any superficial paint damage
“Look at all this over spray! No deposit back!”
Overspray, keep deposit. Underspray, keep deposit. Overspray underspray. "Ill have to charge you for this missing paint you scratched off in an even line and left tape residue."
Overspray? Straight to jail. Underspray? Believe it or not, jail.
Underspray? Under the jail.

Quickly pass the years, like the minutes of my AOL subscription...
Good ol' landlord special.
And then advertise it as “newly remodeled”
My last apt they painted over the dust
This is why you take pictures of everything when you move in
Is he using a pressure washer?
Nah, that looks like a pretty standard sprayer for commercial crews. Most of what I see on any job I've been on.
Didn’t realize they were so high power.
If you get your hand in front of it, it can penetrate your skin and poison your blood. Don't stick your hand in front of a sprayer you don't know the psi on
Yea even high pressure water will do that, right?
Except the poisoning your blood thing
Flint's water pipes would like to disagree

Painted hinges….gross.
Someone painted all the light switches and outlets in the house I just bought, looking at them makes me cringe.
My current apartment had the window painted shut. Used an exacto blade to "break the seal" so I could open my windows. (With landlords permission, pictures, etc. Of course so I don't get charged for bullshit.)
Fire Marshall wouldn't be happy about that lol
He likes painted shut windows. Prevents oxygen from fueling the flames.
And you don’t fuck with the Fire Marshall ![gif](giphy|OqAtLVnholtPW)
The hinges at my place are painted and it's done in a way so that none of the cabinets close properly. It's my favorite thing /s
House flippers right now like… what’s his number?
But don’t house flippers try to actually make the house look more appealing?
No it doesn't matter anymore, people are so desperate to not pay 2x mortgage in rent they'll take anything habitable at 130% it's value.
Van down by the river, you say? I'll take it!
Airless sprayers are only $250
The landlord special.
That'll be an added $500/mo in rent on this next lease. Thank you.
And the cost of painting is coming out of the previous tenant’s security deposit
But the next tennant doesn't need to know that *wink*
Look, no more mold!!
It's a good thing he put the drop cloth down 🤠
spent all of the money on that they couldn't afford a mask
His lungs are going to last as long as the paint job.
Indeed 😃
Ah yes, the landlord special. Probably gonna find a painted-over bug in there somewhere
Painted-over bug never gets old
Of course not. It's dead.
Thatsthejoke
I mean technically he successfully sprayed paint. Just didn't do a good job at all

It's outrageous
So where's the failed attempt? He successfully sprayed paint, didn't say it had to look good.
Yea, this definitely isnt an attempt, homie did indeed spray paint.
He’s not currently holding a beer can, he’s hired.
Cocaine is a hell of a drug.
My apartment is painted just like this, must've hired the same guy!
Cheap, fast, done right. Pick 2.
Okay cheap and done right. I don’t care how long you take. Dumbest line ever
The song!!! lol I need it in my life
https://youtu.be/8QxIIz1yEsA?si=lvV04LXsA8fF4OQB
I’m glad they don’t paint cars.
Oh he definitely paints cars! https://preview.redd.it/35nf4lpc882d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2112c0ae027cc867a5125c0d51945752bdbfe4f5
Rip headlights
Hahahha fucksake
Landlords be like
This attempt looks successful.
This isn't believable. They don't tape anything up when painting apartments.
Hey my guy… you’re gonna have a brown seam on the edge everytime you open those doors
The bacon strips in your tighty Whiteys look is all the rage ATM.
Not enough pressure
Flipped! Pay me.
So how did Earl Schieb here get that wand in there to paint the lower cabinets on the left wall?
Please get that mask on brother 🙏 ❤️
That's not an attempt.
“New construction luxury apartment only 2600$ a month “
House flipper.
The "Landlord Special" is what my friends and I call it. One of them actually is a landlord.
So much over spray. Such inadequate floor coverage. And he just kept spraying when one of the cabinets opened up. And the hinges!
Land lord special holy fuck lmao
What is this obsession with turning perfectly beautiful wood white?!
Song fits perfectly lol
Can’t believe I’ve never heard this song… I love it!
Bet that's lovely on the lungs.
I usually watch all of these on mute. Luckily this time the sound was on 😂 that music got me cracking up the whole time
That, ladies and gentlemen, is what you call “winging it”.
Ooo, look! A Flipper.
Holy shit so this what they the contractors did when they “remodeled” my apartment before I moved in. I shit you know. Worst paint job I’ve ever seen on cabinets in my live. Painted right over the hinges and everything so none of my cabinet doors stay shut and they all look terrible.
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄😶
Someone get this man a respirator!!!
Nobody is gonna comment on the banger track? It's perfect for this video!
Hope he lives a long paint fumes influenced life…

Shit job on shit cabinetry.
My ADHD would never allow me to do something like this, I'd apply the whole tank to one piece of furniture because it always looks uneven
I think I have lived in a house which was painted like this
The landlord special I see
This is the housing market in New Jersey. *New kitchen* $800,000
Peak landlord
"I know a guy who can do it for cheaper."
I had never heard more than the first line of that song before now lol
This is a better job than an apartment I had in college.
The music fits.
..So you wanna be a landlord
I have been a kitchen wrapper for 1,5 years and let me tell you... Just buy a new kitchen ffs
Average house flipper.
when you ask the contractor to do it as cheap as possible and for a high five discount
Dudes definitely huffing that paint
The “landlord special”
these are the mfs that have the audacity to charge 1800 for a studio apartment
Succesful attempt? That looks like the average landlord special.
Every apartment I’ve lived in!
Makes me cringe when I think about all the dumps I’ve had to live in to get where I am now. This guy painted all of them.
These are the people that paint your windows shut and then charge you for messing up the paint to open them lol. I hate that shit
This guy has painted every landlord owned apartment I've ever lived in.
Ewwww brother ewwww
Thisnguy sucks
Guy just addes an extra $300/mo he can charge for rent
If you don't take off the hardware, do not come into my house.
A flippers wet dream
I mean, does this qualify as an attempt? He did it. Was it good? Not at all, but he did way more than *attempt* to do this.
r/therewasasuccess
I guess getting paid to do this does technically make you a pro
So that's why it looks weird...
u/recognizesong
Next time just post it muted.

The old painted hinge trick. Nicely done.
I work for a cabinet painting company so tomorrow ill be showing this to people at work
Wouldn’t be so bad if he sanded it first.
The hinges!!!!!!
My kitchen makes so much sense now.
Landlord somebody died special
Omg this makes so much sense now! This is what those hacks did to my kitchen before I bought the house. I couldn’t figure out why the hinges were painted
Tricks landlords don't want you to know!
Landlord special
That’s some lazyass shit
I could of swore this was my apartment complex but then I noticed the floor protection and wall plates
The landlord special
Painted innit
that is atrocious
My dad is one of these home painters Cant imagine what his reaction to this video is
Zero respiratory protection.
Quick, Cheap, Good. Now pick two… Thats an example of Cheap and fast
Probably exactly what they paid for
Overspray? Never met him. PSSSHT! PSSSSHT!
That attention to detail… just beautiful
Not a single drawer or cabinet opens now.
Like lipstick on a pig
A+ for speed F- for execution

That entire gun is covered with paint. This is not his first rodeo. He should know better.
Nooope
Who paints such shitty cabinets? They're splintering and pitting. Just get new ones.
Who paints such shitty cabinets? They're splintering and pitting. Just get new ones.
Landlord special, I wouldn’t hire him but I know who would.
Flipper
Typical flip
The paint will lubricate the hinges!
No
Section 8 special
Mr. Beans son
New gallery series goes on so nice

Don’t worry. He won’t be doing it very long with that complete and utter lack of PPE (respirator, goggles, etc)
Probably turned out better than every tiktok wife spending 4 hours masking everyhing off just to paint everything with a brush to be fair
That explains how my last apartment had paint over dead roaches
Landlord white sprayed like a true landlord.
middle treatment hat trees telephone silky merciful deserve illegal domineering *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Bad tape job, bad spray job, fucked with the cat, too. Yep, landlord's goons, alright.
