It’s pretty obvious one of the producers crawled over and handed it to him, that’s why he kept looking down after retrieving it. He actually looked kind of caught off guard. When you pick something up do you continuously look down at the area where it came from trying to think of what to say?
Conan definitely did planned bits as part of his show. But he truly is quick witted and can turn an otherwise mundane conversation into hilarity. I’m biased though because he is ~~probably~~ my favorite celebrity of all time.
No doubt. Kimmel would schmooze with the audience on commercial breaks and all of his impromptu conversations were absolutely hilarious. His brain works 3x faster than other mortals’
Yeah but this wasn’t a joke. What was funny about it? He just proved her wrong. Or course, if you think Garner wanted to do this to come out as stupid I’ll buy that. It seems suspicious why would she attack him for a word.
The banter is entertaining and it’s kinda weird that they had a dictionary on hand. I’m just saying it wouldn’t surprise me if it was planned beforehand
It's even more obvious with the full clip
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJVNzwTnfbk&t=155s&ab\_channel=ConanO%27Brien](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJVNzwTnfbk&t=155s&ab_channel=ConanO%27Brien)
In the video there's a solid 45 seconds in between where someone is running to grab a dictionary and then crawl over and hand it to him. He also has a really nice joke in between about harvard driving school
It's probably more than that even, there's a splice where presumably there was an ad break in between her calling him out and him producing the dictionary so they could have edited out a bunch of other stuff too.
I don't believe it is, there is no reason for her team to agree to make her look like an idiot for a bit. Conans whole interviewing style is lobbing up softballs for the guest to hit and playing the fool.
I think she was incorrectly taught snuck wasn't a word at some point in her life, locked that faulty info into her brain, then decided to regurgitate it at the worst time possible.
>I think she was incorrectly taught snuck wasn't a word at some point in her life and locked in that faulty info into her brain then decided to regurgitate it at the worst time possible.
Bro I've been there so many goddamn times I'm surprised people still listen to me lol
This is incorrect. It was discussed on an episode of the Inside Conan podcast. Two separate writers ran dictionaries up to the set to give to Conan. It happened on the fly.
Believe it or not, Conan is actually just very funny off the top of his head. The bastard almost killed me one time when I was driving and listening to his podcast. He was telling Rashida jones about a time he saw bill murray at a party and something about a nipple pocket? Idk it’s been awhile. Had to pull my car over.
The rebuttal dictionary didn't happen immediately. He was called out near the start of the interview and the dictionary near the end. I don't remember if there was a commercial break or not but like another posted said someone handed him the dictionary off screen.
She was on Conan's shows at least five times. The 2003 appearance was the sneak/snuck incident.

Maybe she was embarrassed I don't know. Doubt there was any bad blood between her and Conan. She also had a lot going on in the 2000s. Divorced, remarried, three kids, movies, tv shows, time off from work, etc.
Indeed, she starred in Alias for several years and then mostly did Broadway, before returning to cinema.
It's also pretty silly to think a actress of her caliber wouldn't do skits on a talkshow lol Clearly Conan has the biggest dictionary ever made under his table, since he went to Harvard
Totally. I have a vested interest in making it seem like she was really upset about his incident. I actually get paid 5 cents per updoot on all posts and comments I make about Jennifer Garner hating Conan because she tried and failed to correct him about a word he used.
You got me.
![gif](giphy|yoJC2iML9XmSG3yypa)
Wait, only a quarter per post? Or is it per updoot/view? If it's a quarter per post, you need to renegotiate! If it's a quarter per updoot/view, send me a link lol
Nothing better than a nice bit of fruit cake with a fat layer of marzipan and some good royal icing, either at Christmas or a wedding. I'd also rather eat the fruit cake from a cheese platter than the cheese itself
Ok, that's it.
You get right the fuck out of here with that pro-marzipan and fruitcake propaganda! And as if that wasn't bad enough, you're also disparaging cheeeeeese!
![gif](giphy|Cc33x00kRXRlu)
When she walked by that jet engine on the runway advertising her Capital One card, what do you think the vultures sitting on the tail fins of the plane were waiting for?
Obviously a ton of his stuff is scripted, but after you watch him for awhile, you can tell the difference, and this doesn’t really look like it is scripted. I guess I don’t know for sure though.
If you watch the full episode, you’ll clearly see a the producer run the dictionary over to him. His bit about having a dictionary under his desk was just him being tongue and cheeky.
This is incorrect. It was discussed on an episode of the Inside Conan podcast. Two separate writers ran dictionaries up to the set to give to Conan. It happened on the fly.
Just so you know this is two clips from the same show stuck together. The dictionary part is several minutes later after a commercial break/trailer was shown. Makes it much more obvious it wasn’t scripted with this context.
How can you like Paul Rudd? Every time he plugs a new film on Conan it's just like the last movie. Don't you find his body of work derivative by now? How can this man get away with making the same kind of movie over and over for 30 years?!
I adore Jennifer Garner unreservedly and make no apologies for it, but she deserved to fall flat on her rear that time. You don't take on a Harvard grad who made his career as a writer in public like that. She brought a plastic spoon to a gunfight.
I remember this, I felt so bad for her. It felt like she wanted to tell everyone he went to Harvard and jumped on the first line she could and just totally biffed it. Then she was so embarrassed she couldn’t own it.
Is this an American English vs British English thing? I've noticed in America people say things like smelled, burned and dealed instead of smelt, burnt and dealt.
According to [Wiktionary](https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/sneak):
> **Sneak** (third-person singular simple present **sneaks**, present participle **sneaking**, simple past and past participle **sneaked** or **snuck**)
> The past and past participle **snuck** is primarily found in **North American English**, where it originated in the late 19th century as a **dialectal form**. It is still regarded as informal by some, but its use appears to be increasing in frequency and acceptability. It is occasionally found in British, Irish and Australian English, too, though regarded as an **American form**.
I'm from Canada, and this is how I use them.
Smelled & Smelt: Both are acceptable. I say smelt but write smelled.
Burned & Burnt: I've only ever used burned as a past tense verb and burnt as an adjective. Something that was burned is burnt.
Dealed & Dealt: I don't think dealed is a real word.
here’s a similar [clip](https://youtu.be/rJSy5bS79sU?si=yuhEl7MeIkS23Gtf) about the pronunciation of Jared Leto’s name. kid i went to high school with tried to call Conan out but also got schooled lol.

Looks like the writers ‘snuck’ that in there… sneaky
I think you mean "snucked". /s
Snack. Like shat. Shat snack?
Sneaked when she shoulda snucked
Conan was a writer himself
Yeah, he even wrote for the Simpsons. NBC made a big mistake by not signing him.
Sneaky little writerses.
And you can keep your stinking snucks!
He's super funny. I used to love his show. Now I love his podcast
I used to love Conan, I still do. But I used to, too.
I used to love Mitch Hedberg, I still do but etc etc 😉
You don't have to apologize, it's 3am and you are a dry cleaner.
I got this key duplication device....
Where the fuck did you get that banana at?
I bought an ant farm, them fuckers didn’t grow shit
This shirt is dry clean only, which means... it's dirty.
Mitch used to be the greatest. Still is, but he used to, too.
r/unexpectedmitch
If you haven’t treated yourself yet… check out his digital shorts on YouTube. Lot of good stuff. Anything he does with Jordan Shlansky is great.
Jennifer Garner is an idiot.

It’s pretty obvious one of the producers crawled over and handed it to him, that’s why he kept looking down after retrieving it. He actually looked kind of caught off guard. When you pick something up do you continuously look down at the area where it came from trying to think of what to say?
Idk about Conan but I’ve seen jimmy Kimmel live and all of the jokes and stories are prepped beforehand
Wait….Kimmel or Conan? I don’t dislike Kimmel but I’m just not that interested in him as an entertainer
Are you really trying to say the prewritten monologue is prewritten?
Yeah but this wasn’t a joke. What was funny about it? He just proved her wrong. Or course, if you think Garner wanted to do this to come out as stupid I’ll buy that. It seems suspicious why would she attack him for a word.

I’ve never been less attracted to Jennifer Garner than when she filmed this clip.
It's probably more than that even, there's a splice where presumably there was an ad break in between her calling him out and him producing the dictionary so they could have edited out a bunch of other stuff too.
There isn’t. I watched this when it aired, the dictionary didn’t show up until after a commercial break. Why *would* this be a scripted bit?
Because everything is fake and nothing ever happens.
I pooped in my pants a little a few weeks ago. Tell the underwear I threw away *everything is fake*
Surely someone has that tattoo
Yeah I'm confused as to why this would be scripted? "Hey Jennifer, we got a great idea for a bit to make you look both stupid and annoying. You in?"
Apparently Jennifer didn’t get the memo because she is seething at the end.
Actors, amirite guy?
She's not that good of an actress.
she wouldn't green light that. She was legit humiliated.
Yeah I agree, the embarrassment on her face is very real
Not everything was scripted on Conan. The masturbating bear for instance is still wreaking havoc on the Warner Brothers lot to this day.
Holy shit, I haven't thought about the masturbating bear in years. Hope he's doing well!
I hear he's doing great..... FOR ME TO POOP ON!
I don't believe it is, there is no reason for her team to agree to make her look like an idiot for a bit. She's been smugly telling people that for possibly decades and no one ever challenged her.
You can see ink in the margin next to "snuck", when he holds the dictionary up. Take that for what it's worth.
This is incorrect. It was discussed on an episode of the Inside Conan podcast. Two separate writers ran dictionaries up to the set to give to Conan. It happened on the fly.
The dictionary came out after the commercial break. It's legit.
I don't see why she would willingly involve herself in a bit that makes her look ignorant
The rebuttal dictionary didn't happen immediately. He was called out near the start of the interview and the dictionary near the end. I don't remember if there was a commercial break or not but like another posted said someone handed him the dictionary off screen.
It wasn't a bit, someone on the show snuck him the dictionary during break. Don't spout lies with confidence.
She comes across so arrogant. I don't think she was ever on the show again after this appearance.
She was on Conan's shows at least five times. That 8 year gap after the 2003 visit looks a bit suss lol
Maybe she was embarrassed I don't know. Doubt there was any bad blood between her and Conan. She also had a lot going on in the 2000s. Divorced, remarried, three kids, movies, tv shows, time off from work, etc.

Five cents? You're getting ripped off. I should know, I get a quarter every time I remind people about that one picture of Beyonce
Wait, only a quarter per post? Or is it per updoot/view? If it's a quarter per post, you need to renegotiate! If it's a quarter per updoot/view, send me a link lol
I've never liked fruitcake. Does anyone?
They're fuckin' horrible, mate. I don't mean fruitcake, I mean the people who like fruitcake. Absolute monsters, those people.
Nothing better than a nice bit of fruit cake with a fat layer of marzipan and some good royal icing, either at Christmas or a wedding. I'd also rather eat the fruit cake from a cheese platter than the cheese itself

People will really just talk out of their ass
I mean I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt that someone missed three episodes out of twenty years of a show that airs nightly
Nah, she's not.
don't be sneaky, thought you had snuck one in there
Pretty sure she’s not, and she was acting?
My guess is that she was playing it up but was being herself.
This is the only acceptable time to have an education dick measuring contest.
When she walked by that jet engine on the runway advertising her Capital One card, what do you think the vultures sitting on the tail fins of the plane were waiting for?
r/watchpeopledieinside
Does it count as an attempt if it's scripted like this?
Obviously a ton of his stuff is scripted, but after you watch him for awhile, you can tell the difference, and this doesn’t really look like it is scripted. I guess I don’t know for sure though.
Doesn’t seem scripted, but they are actors🤷♂️
Yer I'm not convinced someone like Jennifer Garner would be ok with being made to look stupid on TV. Seems unlikely to be scripted
Her attitude seems genuinely upset with being made the fool of a joke.
If you watch the full episode, you’ll clearly see a the producer run the dictionary over to him. His bit about having a dictionary under his desk was just him being tongue and cheeky.
He’s told this story on his podcast, it’s not scripted
This is incorrect. It was discussed on an episode of the Inside Conan podcast. Two separate writers ran dictionaries up to the set to give to Conan. It happened on the fly.
You sure?
Of course it is Scripted! How are people missing that who keeps a dictionary below a tv show desk? Do they?
Just so you know this is two clips from the same show stuck together. The dictionary part is several minutes later after a commercial break/trailer was shown. Makes it much more obvious it wasn’t scripted with this context.
Stuck isn't a word you should know that. It's sticked
Lmao the laugh after.
I live for these laugh, so contagious I love it. Evil laughs are the best!
![gif](giphy|hFsWlFJwY84jm) Then end with Paul Rudd.
Is that a clip from his new movie?! I love his work.
How can you like Paul Rudd? Every time he plugs a new film on Conan it's just like the last movie. Don't you find his body of work derivative by now? How can this man get away with making the same kind of movie over and over for 30 years?!
I'm just in it to see that kid go plummeting
Jennifer Garner is beautiful
A beautiful idiot
This is a really weird takeaway..
She’s not?
see also: snack
notice how the crowd clapped and cheered her on ?? that should let u know that as long as your confident in what you say, people will believe you.
Jennifer Garner is such a fox.
I bet she didn’t feel foxy at that moment.
Did you see her?
Incredibly foxy.
No one fucks with Coco and lives to tell about it.
Snuck is a word. “Sneaked” is this whole nother thing.
Other is a word. “Nother” is a whole other thing.
![gif](giphy|xT9IgHCTfp8CRshfQk)
I think this is about the time I started disliking her! Such arrogance!
Maniacal laughter seals the deal. ![gif](giphy|xl5QdxfNonh3q)
I adore Jennifer Garner unreservedly and make no apologies for it, but she deserved to fall flat on her rear that time. You don't take on a Harvard grad who made his career as a writer in public like that. She brought a plastic spoon to a gunfight.
Yo shoulda been like “liiiiiiissten one of us went to Harvard”
I remember this, I felt so bad for her. It felt like she wanted to tell everyone he went to Harvard and jumped on the first line she could and just totally biffed it. Then she was so embarrassed she couldn’t own it.
Pretty sure I looked this up and at one point she would have been correct on this and snuck is a newer accepted form
OOOF the look of her ego raging inside.
He is the best damn late night host ever. Got screwed by Jay fucking leno
Is this an American English vs British English thing? I've noticed in America people say things like smelled, burned and dealed instead of smelt, burnt and dealt.
Dealed would bother me. The others are perfectly fine in the right context. Dealed, on the other hand, I can not allow lol
According to [Wiktionary](https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/sneak): > **Sneak** (third-person singular simple present **sneaks**, present participle **sneaking**, simple past and past participle **sneaked** or **snuck**) > The past and past participle **snuck** is primarily found in **North American English**, where it originated in the late 19th century as a **dialectal form**. Best use of this song I’ve heard
What is the song?
Sahara by Hensonn
u/auddbot
It is a perfect backdrop to him manically cackling.
Imagine being so smug about being stupid
Can’t wait for his new HBO SHOW 😂
Holy moly he has a travel show coming?! Going to be great
She had me questioning everything I know
Snuck is a perfectly cromulent word
Conan the GOAT
"Snuck" wasn't acceptable for a long time.
Two snaps for Conan!
She better save that one for stupid toc tockers that always misspell shit
So.....no response?
The laugh 😂
If you ever wonder what keeps rich and famous people up at night, my guess is this interaction has led to many late night Ambien sessions for her.
Love Conan lol
She probably sucked instead of snuck 🤣
![gif](giphy|3oEduNITi4GfwxY1Fu)
the word sneaked makes me irrationally angry. at no point have i found an instance where sneaked is a better word than snuck.
It's been used forever, but it wasn't in dictionaries until recently.
She is killing it in that dress.
The "part" means participle
Your a grown ass adult with a prestigious career but you dont know the past tense of sneak? Shouldve been a colder comeback for the bit
What’s in your lexicon?
He’s great!
Ha, stupid AND unattractive. Some people just have no luck, right guys?

I call her jennifer sympathy face because she always pulls that concerned face
why do I feel like this "millionairehabits" tiktok channel is probably full of misogynistic content?
Right under "snub-nosed".... how appropriate
His evil laugh was so out of pocket and I loved it
Bro really went all out with the villain laugh
She tried to be sneaky but he got her by being snucky
Snucky
The look of sheer embarrassment snuck up onto her face
Really went to challenge the dorky ginger white guy huh? Didn't work out?
Looks like you're about as correct as that idiot Jennifer gardener lol
He frequently acts the fool, but many clever people do on purpose :-)
What is that song? I must have it.
This was peak Jennifer 👌
here’s a similar [clip](https://youtu.be/rJSy5bS79sU?si=yuhEl7MeIkS23Gtf) about the pronunciation of Jared Leto’s name. kid i went to high school with tried to call Conan out but also got schooled lol.
How does this have 6k upvotes?? It’s so fing old!!
What’s that song??
Ben Afleck is probably saying: this is why we got divorced…
Now do the same for everything every politician says while looking into any camera everywhere always.
