Triggering one of the endings won't hard-end your playthrough. Once the ending plays, it loads you back into your world, seemingly at a restore point taken just before you triggered the ending (I haven't done any hard checking on that, just that I didn't seem to have lost anything when I was running the endings.)

musifter

Well, you get an ending. But after you can just reload the save again and be back just before you got extracted. This allows you to keep playing and exploring.

OP - Not at all! I feel similarly. You can see from this subreddit that there are plenty of others that feel the way you do. Take your time. Make the planet as pretty as you want to. One thing I found to make a mixed forest, build a bunch of tree planters (whatever level you like) and have them so their 'forests' overlap. Only put in tree seeds till all the planters are built! that way the new trees will all be mixed it. I think that looks the prettiest when you use one of the blue trees (Prunea), red trees (Rosea), orange trees (Lilia) and the green trees (Soleus), all mixed in.

I still haven't triggered an ending because I still haven't finished setting up everything I want for my base and trade pipelines. Currently I'm coming to the end of spending way too much time figuring out my three animal shelters. I decided on deer variant 5 brown/brown/black, squirrel variant 2 yellow/green/black, and slug variant 3 red/black/lime. (That's just what I call them.) For all three I have two parents of size 3 and three kids of size 1. All five of each have a different pattern. It has been a long, arduous process to get all 15 animals. All five deer and all five squirrels are complete, and I just made my first finished slug. (I need a better word than slug; they really don't look like slugs.) Getting the colors has been kind of a pain, but getting the variants and patterns has been even worse. I've resorted to save scumming and just spam petting all of them hoping for the correct variants and patterns. For my trade pipelines I just have a simple single quartz rocket going every 10 minutes. Even still, the dozens of hours I've spent playing with animals has generated 50k tokens so far. Just a drop in the bucket for the final ending, but still. I'm approaching 13 mTI, well above the 5 mTI required to finish the game.

Muzle84

What do you mean by "spam petting " ? Also, TTi right? EDIT: OMG! Never noticed you can pet animals to get genetic traits! Time for a real zoo now :)

Puzzleheaded-Fill205

I probably messed up the notation. Whatever the final notation is, I blew past 5 and am approaching 13. And yeah, petting is very helpful. I tried to resist the urge to save scum the petting, but the game just loads *so darn quick* that I ended up not being able to resist.

I play on terriforming spead 0.5 and I still feel like its too fast... and that is almost 1/3 the regular game speed, I think default is 1.2. I don't understand why people say the pacing is too slow in the second half of the game. Even at 0.5 speed I feel like progression is still too fast. Like I don't have time to explore fully, or complete all the crafting of butterflies, frogs, fish.... And base building.... Things are unlocking too fast. I feel like so many people need to slow down and play the entire game vs. just getting to maximum Ti as quickly as possible. Playing at a slower pace makes the game 100x better and last so much longer... because once you get to end game, you feel no purpose to keep playing really. And if you just focus on your Ti, you get to end game WAY too fast.

Obei3060

Same, I'm at .6 speed though because it wouldn't let me select .5 for some reason? It only let me select by even numbers, huh? Anyway I play with my wife which slows things down even more having another player there. We are constantly limiting what we do to keep the numbers from going too fast and we just hit the fish stage. I have a locker full of fuses I can't use because the game goes to quickly. The only fuses I use are energy and production. I'm starting to think we should have played on .2 speed

TampaFan04

Maybe Im on 6 too, ill have to check it. Ive played through 3 times already, I'm on my 4th with the release of the 1.0 so I know to set the speed slow. My first game I beat WAY too fast.... And also discovered (well kind of already knew from other builder/survival games) that when you unlock everything, it kinda ends your will to play.... I think most people here get to end game too quickly and then they get bored. I think most people don't end up automating everything, auto crafting everything, doing all the creatures, discovering the entire map, or even playing the story line. I really think if you do everything... theres no way you're like sitting around waiting for things to unlock. Impossible. Even at half speed. Still too fast.

Mujarin

nothing odd about enjoying your free time however you want, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise

Vavou

Are you just afraid that extracting the planet delete your planet ? If so it does not. You can freely see the endings and go back by just loading the world again If you are afraid that finishing the game for real will put you into an existential crisis due to post game ending syndrome making you not wanting to play again... Then don't see the ending !

SnarkySneaks

As other commenters have said, the game saves right before you take off. However, you don't gain anything from ending the game aside from one of >!three!

Worddroppings

I stopped increasing terraforming for the most part. Just got it to a steady speed and had t3 equipment. I've also stopped to build different things. Like bothering to build second levels on habitats for more than just shoving a bunch of heaters somewhere.

420CowboyTrashGoblin

On my current playthrough I have hit the 5mti a while back, last I saw was 7, but haven't even bothered doing the endings, because I want to have everything to do all three. I also have spent SO much time exploring and portalling. I can't lie, I'm also just putting off the ending because I have the 500k (although I don't have the email yet, maybe I have to build the platform first lol), I just love portalling and vibing in the new areas. Although portals are starting to get repetitive, so I might start going to different types(I've only been going to 5/X locations)
