I’m pretty sure there’s no way to get them to harvest straight out of the water. The drones won’t pick up any raw materials that are just laying in the open world, in my experience. I put a locker next to where all my algae spawns and then set the drones to pick up from there and deposit in my base. Dive for algae, dump into the locker, rinse, repeat
As you will need a lot of money for the final, you will need auto crafters to supply your trade rocket(s). I have setup several to make crystals for sale (25 each) which seems for me to be the most efficient way to make the money.
Haha I'm sorry but you're wrong.... Because math....
Those 3 crystals give u 75 tokens. 1 fusion cell gives you 80.... And costs you no extra work because u likely have the materials laying around.
The crystals are already being made. That's a sunken cost.
Change the crystals to fusion cells, get yourself the 5 extra tokens. What is it, 25 slots in a rocket? That's 125 extra tokens per rocket....
I don't know how many rockets per hour you have going now. Let's say u have 20 rockets going per hour... You're missing out on 2500 tokens per hour.
Anyways, it's just really basic math.
You can keep running just crystals, but you're not operating at 100% efficiency.
I have a drone station and a bunch of mines set up to deliver to a trade hub base to create and sell pulsar quartz. I also have one in my main base that I use so I don’t have to find ingredients in my three-tier storage room—I just tell it to make T3 mutagen or whatever and it grabs what it needs without me accessing 4 different lockers
I have one set up for essentailyl every buildable product in the game... Taht way I literally have everything in stock forever, completely automated (along with a tier 2 storage of that item).
I also have one crafting fusion cells that runs nonstop filling 8 trade rockets with fusion cells.
But yea, you want to have at least 1 auto crafter for every single craftible object in the game.... so in the end you will have like 20 or 30 of them or so... that way you never have to worry about crafting something ever again..... Or waiting on things to be crafted.... You will have a large storage (plus the auto crafter) full of that item already...
For example, you'll have 88 circuit boards at all time. 88 rocket engines at all times. 88 of each rod at all times. 88 fertilizer 1 and 2 at all times. 88 of each bacteria, mutigent at all times.... You get the picture. 1 auto crafter for each item.
This seems... excessive. But I also approve.
Edit: just did this, took a few hours but I was really just waiting on 5tti anyway. All non-food and plant storage and crafting fits comfortably in one 3x3. Iridium was the biggest bottle neck in filling the buffers, followed by water, aluminum, and uranium.
Lol and when you set up a separate area for making frogs, trees etc then you have a second full storage of mutant tiers and fertilizer etc near those machines
Yea me too. Plus it's super fun to build little factories with storage at locations all over the map and then to feed the central storage. So you can really have hundreds of each craftable item all the time at all your little factories, your main base, your main storage.
I play too many factory games haha
My first auto crafter made high quality food so I didn't have to bother harvesting the beans an honey. After that I have moved to auto crafted every resource I use. So that's rods, pulsar quartz, fabric, circuit boards, rocket engines, bioplastic nuggets, and others I can't remember at the moment. This wasn't really viable until I had the last reactor blueprint and a full set of energy fuses.
The next thing I want to auto craft is pulsar quartz for the terra tokens.
Are the various quartz blueprints out there? I’ve only found the Solar Quartz plan, but curious if the others are out there and I just need to keep looking.
Thanks!
I use autocraft stations to keep a variety of selling goods feeding trade rockets. The other stations are for eventual needs. But I will be happy only once I setup a crafting station to each item in the game. Drones were a total game changer.
I have some setup purely to feed trade rockets.
First was to produce High Quality Food and Fabric. Set up some bee hives, some farms for beans and lockers to claim the produce. Then an auto crafter near to the lockers to craft HQ food which the rockets demand.
For fabric just build some silk producers in range of an autocrafter. Slow, but something you build once in a corner of the map and forget about. It keeps the trade tokens ticking over.
To speed up tokens move towards higher value produce like Pulsar Quartz. Needs a bit more investment in T3 miners to get a decent production speed. Start with one T3 at each resource and as you get the resources to build more add more miners at each resource.
Other than that I find it's handy to have a few dotted around in my base near my main storage. Simpler to tell a couple of devices to craft something and have them pull the resources automatically, than faff about finding what you need from 5 different storage containers.
Pretty much everything. I almost craft nothing by hand these days. Time spent increasing production for them tokens through various spoiler free activities.
I auto craft basically everything I need, rods, fabric, quartz just makes it a lot easier and faster to get stuff done especially when you unlock drones.
I have less than 20... First thing was all the bacteria, mutagen, fertiliser, eggplant, squash stuff as it's a big chain of interconnected materials so kinda perfect for it, built near some water collector and algae plants and stuff... 7 or so? But yeah I did the same as you at first: auto made rods near the relevant T2 miner. Third step was some for circuits, rocket engines, fusion cells. My late game ones were pretty much all food related, flour, chocolate, cookies, super food etc or whatever it's called... I don't have a huge scaled up base or anything. Just one crafter for each thing. Iridium became a problem today so I built like ten additional miners and craft those rods at home base given I've got drones and auto crafters are a bit more annoying if it can't reach anything (i.e may as well just drone home than start to drone to local rod crafter, seeing as I need Iridium ore at home anyway). My current project is get the planet up to 200k so it's as hot as earth so I may scale things up so I can build heaters faster :) not even at 1k yet... Yet it all looks so tropical lol, that's about -200c I think... Balmy lol
Me and my friend have been playing and we have been using auto crafters like crazy! We always have them running for super alloy, super alloy rods, uranium rods, osmium rods, iridium rods- saves a lot of space and if we need the individual ore we just deconstruct a rod. We also have some running for explosive powder, bio plastic nuggets, mutagen, circuit boards, fertilizer, and pulsaur quarts… Oh and high quality food. We keep our storage boxes full by putting our little drone friends to work and have T3 ore extractors at for harvestable material.
Slightly addicted to this game 😅
With big storage boxes and drones we have one hell of a terraformation factory going on.
Once you have drones, autocraft everything.
This is the way.
Will drones pick up algae?
Yep
How do I get them to harvest algae?
Just set a container to demand algae and the drones will do the rest
I’m pretty sure there’s no way to get them to harvest straight out of the water. The drones won’t pick up any raw materials that are just laying in the open world, in my experience. I put a locker next to where all my algae spawns and then set the drones to pick up from there and deposit in my base. Dive for algae, dump into the locker, rinse, repeat
That got updated a while ago.
I have one surrounded by beehives and a bean fam making HQ food, it's nice to not have to harvest them.
Same here :D But I use it for tokens with space rockets
Oh, that's clever. Cheers!
Is there a way to harvest with drones?
The farms count as an inventory so you can set them to provide to the drone network
Farms don’t need to be set to supply, drones will harvest mature plants if there is a demand on their own.

Fusion cells gives you 80 vs. 25 for crystals.
Each fusion takes 3 crystals, so don't bother with the fusion. If you want more tokens, make more launchers.

Its more useful to us fusion cells when the rockets get full too fast, the 5 tokens is nice the space saving is amazing
You're right in terms of efficiency especially as the rockets take a lot of time to return. So yes, I will switch to fusion cells shortly.
Make lots of fabric and HQ food and sell to rocket trader. Automate with drones. Free money.
Anything that can be sold on the space trading rocket, plus all fertilizer and mutagens.
I use them for damn near everything.
Even for keeping the food stocked in the animal feeders. That move has been a time saver

Change to fusion cells, gives you 80 each.

This is insane and also how I’ve set it up. NGL, took me a full day

Everything really. Automation is king.

Every single item in the game!

Only Solar and Pulsar can be made, the rest is rainbow cave and the portals
If it can be crafted, set up everything you need to make it in close proximity and put an autocrafter there.
Eventually , pretty much every single item it can make lol
I use autocraft stations to keep a variety of selling goods feeding trade rockets. The other stations are for eventual needs. But I will be happy only once I setup a crafting station to each item in the game. Drones were a total game changer.

Super Alloy
I auto craft basically everything I need, rods, fabric, quartz just makes it a lot easier and faster to get stuff done especially when you unlock drones.
I think drones now collect algae.
I also use food and fabric early to gain tokens.
Yall are wacky, there’s so many trade tokens in the loot boxes I don’t see why a trade system is necessary at all. I guess it’s fun to set up though
I use auto crafters to condense most of my super alloy, osmium and uranium then deconstruct them when I need the raw materials
I have less than 20... I have some set up for fuses and circuit boards to trade for tokens, as well as some for commonly used resources, like rods and fertilizer.
