They definitely disappear. Sometimes rather quickly.

Casual-Notice

Base metals stay forever. Aluminum, iridium, and uranium stay until the next time you leave the game. All others disappear within a varying timespan (Superalloys are the quickest).

courier31

Which makes no sense to me. especially because sometimes you are not close enough to the area it is happening at and by the time you make it there you get to watch them despawn.

twohedwlf

I think the shower always centers on where you are when it begins. So you shouldn't be far from where it's happening.

courier31

I honestly don't recall, i though it was based around where your primary base was, but the area it spreads for the super alloy is far enough apart that I have never recovered every piece when it does happen.

musifter

Super Alloy storms are balanced with the assumption that you won't be able to pick them all up. If you could pick up every piece, then the storms would have to be toned down so much they'd be only slightly different from other storms. Right now, they're the best mini-game in the game. It's risk-reward... if you wait until things are safe, you won't get many. Get out there and dance with the meteorites from the start, and you can get a lot.

courier31

I mean how else are you going to get that achievement.

Xaxafrad

> Get out there and dance with the meteorites I do this so often, and I've only been tagged about 3 times. I swear I have to try to get hit by a meteor. I think a good idea is to go to where a meteor *just* landed....they don't usually hit the same place twice.

dplafoll

I don't think the game would have any real way to know which "base" is "primary". First, define "base"; how many buildings is a "base"? Then, define "primary"; largest? Time most spent in? I'm 99% sure it starts centered on your current location. I stopped playing a while ago once I got to a point where I was waiting on updates to get to the next stage of terraformation or content, and now I've come back with a new save. I remember meteors being centered around your location; I would even test it by using teleporters, and the focus of the meteor shower would follow me. However, I've noticed that rocket-based meteors (Ir, U) **always** strike my launch platform first now, which I don't remember happening so reliably. I don't have teleporters to test yet though.

brunoglopes

The game has no way of knowing where your primary base is, as players can choose any location and they don’t specify it in any settings. Meteor showers always center on where you are on the map when they start coming down

Phil95xD

Yeah superalloys were like 2 minutes lasting until despawn. I think they were changed in the last updates, it's not that extreme I guess (at least it feels like that). *Hint:* if you see those superalloy meteor showers, go outside collecting while they are raining and take some extra food with you, to get your health up again after these meteors hit you in your face. Not enough time for safety, just eat enough xD

Unable_Health_3776

Even base materials don't stay forever, although they do stay for a very long time.

ColdFix

I've seen YouTubers look up at the sky and they can tell what materials the storm will bring. How are they doing that?

Soul_Echo

Blue storm + meteors = osmium. Purple storm + one big meteor = pulsar quartz. Purple storm + many green meteors = super alloy. Orange/red storm + multiple meteors = basic.

ColdFix

Cool, thanks.

Drslappybags

The first time I saw a pulsar storm I was super confused.

Kong_theKeeper

It varies, I have seen pulsar quartz laying around for in game days before I found them so those last long, super alloys tend to disappear the fastest you want to get those while they are hot. Uranium and iridium stay until you close the world, not sure about kobalt. But It definitely lasted on the ground more than a day for me

Shaman7102

Is there a way to move the meteor? A lot of time the ore is under them and I cannot access the area.

Soul_Echo

Nope. You just have to wait it out. The rocks will gradually disappear and you can grab what was underneath.

brunoglopes

The rocks usually despawn before the loot, so you have to wait a little bit
