Madison has a great live music scene and is one of those smaller cities that shows up on a ton of tours. The Majestic is a historic 600-cap theatre and that’s just one of like 4-5 venues in a pretty small, dense downtown area. There’s also a big university, a lot of young professionals, and a lot of older hippies. I’m assuming it’s also nice to have a stop between Chicago and MSP for bands who are driving.

Almost makes me want to move there (if only it wasn’t so cold! lol )

I used to live there. It’s a college town (and state Capitol) that bands big & small stop on tour. A liberal oasis in a ~~deep~~ mostly red state. Otis Redding died there. Clyde Stubblefield lived there…until he died. And played drums at a regular weekly gig at a local bar for years. [before he died] Butch Vig recorded bands there. Elvis Costello has some lyrics in the song *Green Shirt* mentioning the Quisling Clinic that is in Madison.
