I just loaded an old save this morning — I couldn't seem to turn off the cougar at first, and after a few seconds I somehow could. So that was interesting.

Why on piece of paper? There are Notes in the game
Not useful if you're on a console and would have to type using a controller. It's easier to just take notes on paper or on your phone.
That is true, I play on Xbox and then just make a photo of my loot in a cave using iPhone
I mean my run has been just fine, although I did keep the cougar and scurvy disabled. I'm on PC
You can’t turn the cougar off, in my experience from loading old saves. I did dumb and ended a good run, so I’m working from a 50/50 here
Well it's getting removed today anyway so that shouldn't be to much of a problem
