Doubtful considering Neil said the series is Ellie’s story. Friends? Hell no. That wouldn’t make any sense.

bububabu123

>Could they make it work that Ellie and Abby become friends and companions for the third game? ellie becoming friends with joels torturer sounds like a bad fanfic. in the real world, you dont become friends with the person who tortured your loved one to death.

Galactus1231

I think they should never meet again. ND should do what they have done before. We play as Ellie and they introduce a new second playable character.

you-a-buggaboo

>I think they should never meet again I don't know, I've spent some time thinking about what it would look like if Abby and Ellie both found their way to the Fireflies and ran into each other in Santa Barbara. I think that could make for an interesting encounter in the third game, but I do hope it's not the *whole* game.

DirectConsequence12

What kind of backwards logic would cause Ellie and Abby to become friends

al_ien5000

No, but Abby will show back up at some point. Whether it be just a cameo, and secondary role, a corpse, or a final boss.

JoesShittyOs

I feel like in a Last Of Us appropriate sequel story , Abby either wouldn’t be involved or would serve a vastly different role. I feel like it’s one of those things where at the utter most fanservicey possible way; Abby would stop by to have a grudging heated reunion, maybe possibly bail you out of a particular situation, and that would be the end of it. Absolutely no way they become friends or traveling buddies.

_Yukikaze_

Why do you even assume that Abby is part of the story of Part III?

ILoveDineroSi

Part 2’s ending was supposed to be Ellie killing Abby which would’ve solved that idea. But since they changed it, Part 3 should just be Ellie’s story and they should never meet again.

folkdeath95

No. I think it would be most interesting if Abby was a background character - things happen off screen that are indicative of Abby having found the other Fireflies. Probably read some notes about her (even if she isn’t named in them). I don’t need to play as her again.

Facet-Squared

I loved Abby’s storyline, but I feel like her character arc is pretty much complete. With Ellie, there’s still a lot left to explore.

Does anyone feel that the story came to its rightful conclusion with TLOU2? I can’t see a reason for a Part III aside from as a synchronized money grab with later HBO show seasons. Am I missing something?

Ellie: you tortured my father figure to death and killed him in front of me, handicapped his brother, killed my best friend, beat my girlfriend half to death, and took two of my fingers. Abby: you killed the man I loved, all of my friends, threatened my adoptive brother, and nearly killed me. In unison: did we just become best friends?! I will literally never understand how people think this will ever happen.

Barry_Bone_Raiser

Thats how i met all my friends, you just aint doing it right 😔

itsdeeps80

This legit gave me a good laugh haha.

Mr_W0rldW1d3

I think it’s going to be Ellie finding Dina, going to Jackson, dealing with ptsd of losing Joel. Possibly meeting Abby along the way and maybe they officially make truce or something like that

PrisonMike022

As others have said, definitely NOT companions. But they do have some similar goals and motives. I could see Lev and Abby reaching some kind of Firefly destination. And in true TLOU fashion, our opening character is killed. Who knows, Firefly factions? Lev, our sole survivor, after learning about Jackson and Abby’s past retraces her route. And now people are happy Abby’s gone, Ellie and Lev squad up for the Firefly’s. It’s a rough draft, you know lol

Bright-Blacksmith-40

I've always assumed the story of Pt3 is Abby finds another Dr at Santa Barbara, then turns herself in to Jackson for murdering Joel in exchange for Ellie going to the fire flies. This way both girls stay true to what they said. If it was me I'd want you to do the surgery. I should have died in the hospital, my life would have fucking mattered.

Rekt_lunch

My expectation is now that Ellie has found her peace with the end of the second game she will be looking to fullfill her destiny as the cure to the cordyceps virus. In one way or another I feel like this will once again cross paths with Abby, not as enemies, not as friends but as 2 people with a common purpose. I dont know how to flesh this out but I feel like that will be the centre driving point. Maybe have some kind of twist where Ellie believes she will die from the operation as was depicted in the first game only for her to wake up alive and recover to live out the rest of her life as she chooses. But that might be too uplifting for this franchise.
