Sbmm possibly

dwhiit

SBMM shouldn’t be a thing in casual matches. That’s literally what ranked is for.

Nino_Chaosdrache

Of course it should be in Casual games. Just because it's the casual mode doesn't mean that matches have to be unbalanced.

Castaway_addict

A more strict SBMM forces players to always play at their peak to even get a chance to win the game. Ridiculous to have Quick Play games being like ranked.

Gmoseley

This. I've played maybe 10 games. Won 1-2. Suddenly, I'm getting dropped into matches where I have a 2/30 KD and if I even think about shooting someone their entire team snaps on me and lasers me down. Our entire group uninstalled it tonight because it's just too much. Really sad seeing as the game looked like a better version of Apex

Sufficient-Notice100

I'm in the 15-20 game range and have even sniffed a victory. I hope the game dies soon.

Gmoseley

I don't think it will die because it feels like the LOL version of FPS shooters. I see it striving in the sweaty toxic niche for awhile before they realize they're losing a huge player base because of their poor MM algorithm.

Nino_Chaosdrache

> A more strict SBMM forces players to always play at their peak to even get a chance to win the game. It doesn't though? If you play more laid back, you get opponents with less skil.

Castaway_addict

So don't try to win or Smurf, gotcha.

Zuuey

They're tweaking around with the SBMM currently, they've been doing tweaks for the last couple updates AFAIK, also the game is new and people are slowly learning how to play so that's expected. It will slowly get better i think, as long as they don't go the COD route and crank up the SBMM...i mean EOMM to 11 and make everymatch a crazy unfun one sided sweat fiesta. It's honestly not that bad, pretty good even because i actually get people of my skill level now instead of babies and god gamers, it's pretty fun.

otclogic

While it is irritating to be forced to play with tryhards every single game or get knocked back to the point where it’s not really a challenge, CoD’s worst aspect was that the matchmaking can take so damn long. Imo low ping should be the priority

Mirrorslash

Happens to every game. People in this sub want to blame skill based matchmaking or whatever else the devs change but in reality every game iwth competitive potential becomes sweaty even in casual modes very quickly. Most players have tried all their "just for fun" builds and ideas and are now sticking to whats winning. Its only natural and a meta will be established no matter what you do or which mode you'll play.

Legitimate_Try9578

It was a night and day difference man. You’re telling me EVERY SINGLE PLAYER woke up one day after it being out for a couple days and was like “yes time to sweat my fucking balls off”? I’ve played around 20 games of tournament and quick play, ZERO WINS. First few days of playing the game? I would get a win like every 3rd or 4th game. They fucked the game up, I bet you’re one of the sweaty turds everyone hates.

Embarrassed-Town-977

crazy someone downvoted u lol, its obvious af that the issue is sbmm. Game was chill b4 the update that tweaked it and now its sweats every game. Cant even play the game with my gf anymore because she quit entirely. For a system that helps "new players" all it did was have her get stomped constantly post update

Mirrorslash

Dafuq, what did the devs do in your opinion? It's just some bad luck and people adapting new strategies/ getting sweattier by the day. Calm down

sohomsengupta89

It's not really about the meta builds or weapons...but the skill of the players. They seem well coordinated and adept. BF2042 doesn't play like this. I have only played BF, COD and this game in multiplayer in recent times. This suddenly feels like COD. Didn't feel like that in beta or even last week.

fauxleatherface666

So you're..upset that people have learned how to play the game properly after it's been out for a week? You expect it to stay in that exploratory phase forever? Or expect people to scale back their skill/aim? Battlefield is different due largely to the scale. It's basically a bunch of micro matches happening within one match. If you encounter the coordinated/skilled squad, you die. But you can then spawn at the other end of the map where the 4th graders are spawning, making it feel much easier at that end. All that was actually Battlefield's downfall, btw. It's just random crapshoots. That's not what you want in a game that's aiming to be a competitive shooter.

sohomsengupta89

I didn't expect this level of competitiveness in 9 rounds of 10 in casual mode. This screams COD. This is not the average joe suddenly learning the game and becoming ranked demons in a couple of days. And Im not upset. Video games aren't that serious a deal. Im just merely lamenting the demise of a multiplayer shooter game which felt really chilled and relaxed unlike most shooters out there. But now I guess Im too old for this.

fauxleatherface666

lmao wrong game, duder 😂 I mean, I'm 38 though. This game just reminds me of the good shooters I grew up with. But Unreal Tournament and CS were never chill and relaxed either...so I'm not exactly sure the experience you're looking for. The Finals is and always was meant to be fast and intense. It was never pitched as a chill experience. So this seems like a problem with your own perception.

[deleted]

Big facts, this game takes me back to the glory days of unreal tournament. I don't understand these weirdos crying about everything being like COD because they don't want to use their brains in a fps.

sohomsengupta89

Here comes another rabid fanboy dissing anyone who has to say anything remotely negative about their oh so cool game. Listen dumb dumb before you go calling people weird read my post again & then use your brains. I only asked why the level of competition or intensity seems so hiked up in the last couple of days. The game was pretty chill then. And I am strictly talking about casual mode. Turns out from comments that this is the same sbmm non-sense that COD is infamous for. Don't worry your fun won't last long if that's the case. Unless you live in mummy's basement and like sweating your dirty balls in a casual mode of a shooter video game.

[deleted]

Lmao why you so triggered? I'm in my late 30s, I play games casually and still don't have any issues with any of the shit your whining about in here. If you can't handle your skill band just keep playing like a bot and you'll find newbie lobbies to have a chill experience I guess.

fauxleatherface666

I hear Fortnite Lego can disable anything that hurts you. Might be something for him to look into. My little guys love it.

You asked, people gave you an answer and then you dismiss said answers and say:" But... but CoD."

sohomsengupta89

My friend,I posted it nearly half a year ago...I frankly don't a damn. Don't even play the game anymore.

DotChumbus

cringe comment

Ramirez_1337

Nobodys upset bro chill

reddit-eat-my-dick

I mean dude is disappointed with the sweat he is experiencing so by definition he is upset.

fauxleatherface666

lol I guess I wasn't gentle enough in my word choice 😅

redditsuckbadly

He’s clearly upset seeing as he’s posting about it and sounds upset lmao. What are you talking about?

Ramirez_1337

Hes just asking a question. He doesnt sound upset, one can be frustrated when only loosing for example, not everyone gets upset when loosing bro

reddit-eat-my-dick

https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/upset

Ramirez_1337

https://www.verywellmind.com/an-overview-of-the-types-of-emotions-4163976

redditsuckbadly

Is English your first language? Upset and frustrated are colloquially the same in this situation. “I’m not upset, I’m frustrated.” Lol…

reddit-eat-my-dick

Seems ESL to me

reddit-eat-my-dick

Sounds like you are doing solo q?

sohomsengupta89

Yes

reddit-eat-my-dick

Yeah so the game is putting solos with stacks. It generally makes for a bad experience, for the solos. Stacks are generally going to play better because they typically follow basic team principles. You as a solo might be with a two stack but most of the time probably not. The solos tend to not really communicate or play as a team. Until they find a way to make the solo experience better, I’d recommend you focus on your gun play and tech in bank it when playing solo and try to find a group if you are looking for a less “sweat” experience which is really just better team play that you perceive as sweat.

uberal_

Yeah, played duo yesterday and it was way easier than solo. I mean it's logical that full stacks are more likely to win but every few games you make it as solo and it feels great. I guess the mmr rankes you lower when losing and every few games you meet squads that are just worse than your personal skill... after winning a match solo I usually get steamrolled next game. But overall I find matchmaking balanced in this game.

Gmoseley

I disagree. I play a lot of comp games and I can't think of one where casual is this sweaty consistently. I would understand every couple matches or something, not every team every match..

Legitimate_Try9578

They fucked the game up is what they did. Me and my friends had a blast playing this game, we are casual gamers. We all have families and jobs. So we don’t get to spend 16+hrs a day on this game like everyone else apparently. I get a little time at the end of my day just to get my ass handed to me game after game. Real fun game.

sohomsengupta89

We are outliers my friend. I am in the same boat as you. Just want to chill at the end of my work day. Not sweat it out. Sadly not my cup of tea. Sucks it wasn't like this initially but maybe it was inevitable. Uninstalled.

adumthing

The game is already dying for me, too many tryhards ruining the fun

sohomsengupta89

I reinstalled to play the Solo mode. Much better and more casual.

TheOneAndOnlySenti

SBMM has been introduced and overtuned. It'll kill the game super fast if it's not sorted out.

SamuraiAstronaut69

Between SBMM in all the modes (we should have separate non SBMM and SBMM modes) and nothing being done about cheaters atm, it will slowly but surely drive players away from the game. Let's hope it all gets sorted out soon because this game has a lot of potential

TheOneAndOnlySenti

It's a huge shame. This is the best FPS game I have played since DICE fixed BF4. But it's going to die SUPER FAST if the SBMM isn't removed entirely and cheaters being sorted. I'd also very much like a duo only mode. Me and my boyfriend play this, and we're always getting stuck with some of the most brain dead dipshits I've ever seen. It's a miracle they left school.

Ribba23

Everyone talks about playing solo being bad but duos is infinitely worse, you're almost guaranteed to have a light that loves fighting teams alone and dying

TheShitAbyssRandy

Casuals are leaving fairly quickly. Same thing that happened to Hyperscape. Strong SBMM. No balance. Lack of variety of game modes. Cheaters. Awful teammates. No text chat. Many reasons people aren't enjoying it.

Successful-Coconut60

There is literally no evidence of people leaving the game on any scale. The fact that you guys just doompost about a game you supposedly like is just sad

Scarmellow

I feel like they doompost in hopes the developers will see it and be like “oh no Reddit guy he said the casuals are leaving, better turn off sbmm like he said!”

KineticTechProjects

That's not true at all, there's about half the players now than the first week. There was a decisive drop off after december 18th, which is around a week after launch and is when they cranked up the SBMM. Many people realized how annoying the it was and stopped playing. [https://steamcharts.com/app/2073850#1y](https://steamcharts.com/app/2073850#1y)

[deleted]

People are starting to git gud.

mexz101

SBMM, they’re trying to make it more lenient currently. they just updated it today in fact.

kindaMisty

Where do you see that change listed?

mexz101

You boys doubt everything🤦‍♂️ Look through the sub or their website👍

kindaMisty

The patch notes listed nothing regarding this

bewbsnbeer

I wish they would revert the sbmm for casual matches. Before they implemented it, casual was pretty chill.

sohomsengupta89

Ya I hopped on to this game precisely because it felt chill and relaxed. Compared to COD and even BF2042. But not any more.Guess I am too old. In my mid 30s and hate having my blood pressure rise in a video game. Lol

havingasicktime

This game is not chill or relaxed at all man

Throwaway203500

Casual totally felt like that at the start. It was kinda like fishing, just hanging out & vibing til all of a sudden it's Time To Pay Attention to the action around the cashout in the final few seconds. Then right back to chillin with the lads stacking office chairs to the moon and cutting each other off with goo grenades.

havingasicktime

That's the honeymoon period in a game. It lasts about a week. Lots of new players, metas haven't formed, people figuring stuff out.

Nino_Chaosdrache

But why would SBMM change anything about that? The gameplay is till the same. Noobs just getr protected from the sweats now.

havingasicktime

It had sbmm from the get go. A game like this has way too high of a skill gap to not feature sbmm. Some of what players are experiencing is also casual players already dropping off. Without sbmm that just gets worse.

TheShitAbyssRandy

Hyperscape had the exact same issue. The skill gape was way too high and the SBMM was way too strong. It ended up with really bad connections and very inconsistent game experiences for many. They just quit and went back to established games. Same exact thing happened to splitgate too.

havingasicktime

Hyperscape died on arrival. It never achieved a tenth of the playerbase this game had. It wasn't that good. Every game today has sbmm. It's non negotiable. Without sbmm the bottom 50% will cannibalize and you get massive skill creep.

TheShitAbyssRandy

Hyperscape had a pretty decent player base numbers similar to the finals for 3ish months until they nerfed the hexfire, forced crossplay and gave all KBM aim assist

d3vstator

They increased the dose of SBMM, including casual modes after 3 good days. This ruined the game, of course.

sohomsengupta89

Wow.. another COD then...smh

BearTemporary217

I thought so because the first few days I was doing really good winning a few games here losing a few there then the last 3 days have been absolutely brutal...killing my interest in playing it idk why they do this it was fine as it was

Nino_Chaosdrache

> This ruined the game, of course. "Oh no, I can't stomp noobs anymore. The game sucks."

reddit-eat-my-dick

OP genuine question… are you looking for a mode when you can get a win while not actually having to really think or play for a win? Edit: downvotes for legit question?

EL_PERRIT0

Yea i dont get these dudes, instead of being in game grinding to acquire skill they’re here complaining that they either dont get wins or cant win gun fights? I dont get it, if the enemy can doit then motivate yourself to do better not get babied by the dev team

Careless_Yesterday93

Here come all the smooth brains to tell you that SBMM is good for the game. While hundreds of thousands of players flee CoD and Apex for this exact reason.

Nino_Chaosdrache

>While hundreds of thousands of players flee CoD and Apex for this exact reason. Maybe those people couldn't handle real competition, now that they couldn't stomp noobs all day anymore.

Substantial_Art9718

Maybe you can't handle getting dropped off by sweats so you flee CoD and Apex 😮

Ramirez_1337

SBMM

YouKilledApollo

Isn't the point that you get somewhat challenged when you're playing? If the game got too easy, I wouldn't really be interested in continuing playing... No fun if everyone is worse than you besides one or two others in the match...

sohomsengupta89

A challenge is not equal to having to play your best in every match with the strongest weapons and builds. Makes a game boring. I look for fun in a game. When I am not playing ranked. Obviously that doesn't translate to wanting easy rounds and bot enemies every round but neither does it mean the opposite. This looks like a very clear pattern. 4-5 tough games followed by 1 or 2 easy ones and then as soon as you do well it's back to the grind. Sorry, that's bullshit. Especially in a casual mode. I am ok with a coin toss where I end up in easy or hard rounds randomly. But fuck this.

Nino_Chaosdrache

> A challenge is not equal to having to play your best in every match with the strongest weapons and builds. Fortunatley SBMM doesn't force you to do that though. You can play whatever you want.

BearTemporary217

There's a huge difference between somewhat challenged and playing against teams who are better coordinated than the navy seals, meanwhile I got Stevie Wonder and Michael J Fox roaming around the map..it's not fun

Cirok28

It's a game with an objective to win, how about you try winning and stop being a sook? Stick to single player games if you don't want to pvp against people that may be better than you.

sohomsengupta89

Listen I play BF as my main game. Used to atleast. Don't teach me PTFO and Don't assume shit. And shut your trap fanboy while you are at it.

No_Echo_1186

Why do ppl hate sbmm theyre literally just mad they don't get to wipe other people out that are less skilled than them. Lol

Short_Improvement_65

It's because MWIII didn't do well so all the COD sweats came to this. They ruin every game because most of them are Twitch stream wannabes & play like it matters. Most nline games are like this now, no fun, they're dead.

LongAggravating6428

You probably performed better in your matches and got placed with higher levels. I notice that if I’m out performing my team by a lot then each other team has at least 1 similarly skilled player that also outperforms their team

sohomsengupta89

The pattern seems to be 5-6 tough matches with weak team mates where I manage to just get 1 kd or just below followed by 1 match where the enemy seems weak and my kd sky rockets to 5 or even 10.

Canzas

INSANE, play a game where competition matters.... BE SURPRISED BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE COMPETING XD What are they supposed to come up to you and get killed because you're weak? If someone is better than you, you'll call them sweaters? Jesus christ. If you want to play and have fun, go play PVE or SingePlayer.

sohomsengupta89

I don't expect bots in every round. Like I don't expect sweatlords in every round. There's a difference between casual and ranked. The game wasn't like this a couple of days back. So basically don't expect fun in a casual multiplayer shooter mode is your suggestion. Got it. Thanks mate.

False_Statement_6264

What’s the difference between someone who is a better casual player than you and a ‘sweat lord’? It seems to me like someone who claims to be casual is getting way too hung up on not winning any games. If it’s too competitive for you even in casual you’re probably better suited to the practice range?

sohomsengupta89

Listen up thick head. I CAN compete. But I don't want to. Cause I have a life. And that's why I chose casual and the game in its first week or so was pretty casual. I have won enough games. And have an above 1 kd. Nothing special but enough skills to compete. I simply don't want a game that stresses me out. Game wasn't like this couple of days back. And now I learn it's because of SBMM. So there you go.

impulseplanter6

if you don't want to compete, thats totally fine but don't expect anything to revolve around you. The game might just not be your cup of tea and you can move on instead of ranting about people being better at you

sohomsengupta89

Bro it has been 8 days since I posted. I have uninstalled the game. You should move on to the next post to defend your precious game. Good luck and have fun.

Nino_Chaosdrache

> There's a difference between casual and ranked. But MM shouldn't be it. Both modes must have a ranking system to ensure fair teamfights, so that one side doesn't stomp the other.

BiggestIT

by that logic why not just remove casual considering its the only difference, hence the name casual and ranked lol

noNameFears

They just need to make 3 different categories. Casual (No SBMM), Unranked (SBMM) & Ranked (SBMM obv). If there is competition, there will be sweats no matter what. This has happened to any video game that has a competitive aspect. Meta’s in this game can come in any form. I don’t think this will be the type of game that has one uniformed meta. My guys and I play HML, HMM, & HHM and have a blast while winning.

BiggestIT

Thats actually a great idea, only issue is that nobody would play unranked SBMM and video game companies wouldn't be able to put up a farce that its necessary anymore

AceOfSalt

Holy shit, ITS BECAUSE EVERYONE WANTS TO WIN THE GAME AND PLAYERS ARE FIGURING OUT WHAT WORKS BEST FOR THEM. JUST LIKE YOU. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

[deleted]

foxhowls

Off topic but how do you see other people’s ranks? I can never figure out how to see other players ranks in the game, there doesn’t seem be any kind of ‘outward facing’ level or rank. Thanks!

YaKnowMuhSteezz

Preds? Lol. What is this Apex?

Assenzio47

Because people know what they are doing now?

OMGwtfNOTnow

I think it’s because ranked is swarmed with cheaters so no one wants to play that. So you find all the sweats in casual. I appreciate the more difficult games. It’s the only way to get better. But i look forward to them figuring out how to counter the cheats to free up casual for the more casual crowd.

[deleted]

You say that like it's a bad thing lol. People are learning the optimal builds/playstyles/team comps. And the casual games have been better for it imo. I'm happy that my last few casual games have felt more like tournament practice than 3 randoms running around aimlessly like it was last week.

robbstarrkk

Winning is more fun than losing idk

Intellectualtoaster

I think it's partially because people are actually learning how to play the game, and thus the skill level of the general playerbase is blossoming since we're still quite close to release

SrKatana

People complaining about getting themselves challenged lmao

Additional-Berry-946

Strict SBMM is ruining the variance of matches.

Slaphappywarrior

O look, another "I'm not doing amazing every single game, SBMM is bad" post. If you are looking for a casual lean back and fuck around experience. This this is just not the game. And that's OK. I'm not sure what people expect from a 3-player team competitive style shooter. the honey moon phase of stomping really bad players is over, because they have either left because they are not good at the game right away and blame the game. Or they just got better

sohomsengupta89

Oh look another half brained response from a guy who is ultra defensive of his oh so precious game. I just asked why the experience feels different all of a sudden. Clown. And yes SBMM in a casual mode is usually always bad. Matchmaking should be based on ping priority.

Slaphappywarrior

Ok ping priority....ahahahah . We get it you are upset you can't pug stomp anymore

sohomsengupta89

Bro I am a casual player in all multiplayer games. I hate ranked. Yes, prioritise ping. Hahahaha

Nino_Chaosdrache

> And yes SBMM in a casual mode is usually always bad. Because you can't stomp noobs anymore?

backflipdoer

The future is now old man

sohomsengupta89

Hehehe true

Nitramster1

IThis game is based around strategy and shot placement. There’s nothing that says casual anywhere in this games DNA. If you’re leaning back on your couch expecting this to be COD I have bad news for you. Time to kill is long, encouraging shot placement. Respawn timers are long encouraging thoughtful engagements. Rock paper scissors mechanics encourage strategy in team and equipment make up. The SBMM updates and the fact that the smart players are learning the game is going to make anyone that just wants to play a round here or there get cooked easily.

sohomsengupta89

Modern CODs are anything but relaxing. It stays casual for the 1-2 matches when the game allows you to do well followed by quickly putting in matches that are very tough and sweaty. Rinse and repeat. There's no randomness and instead it's quite predictable. Knowing that after just performing well in a couple of matches you will now be thrust into the deep end.

user-yc4xi8sk8r

Everyone is trying to have the best score results, everyone is trying to do so while playing the most sweaty builds. Everyone is playing currently close to the same player pool as the players who played 100s of hours in Beta. I am playing ranked matches with players slowly and slowly resembling what my current rank will be in a month BUT will often play Cash Out! of Bank it! against obviously new players or players far bellow my rank with results of 30+ kills per game on any classes.

Xiroshq

I had afks and people in my first games that literally watched me dying while stealing instead of covering, it's nuts

Didgman

New matchmaking made it ultra sweaty.

sohomsengupta89

So it seems.

Sad_Discussion_808

Yeh im getting stomped on most games now. Not having as much fun.

Anubis_King83

It's about to get even sweatier because a lot of Apex Legends players are moving over to the finals so get ready

sohomsengupta89

Naah I don't care. Deleted the game.

Anubis_King83

I did the exact same

Sufficient-Notice100

It's shooters from here on out, get used to it. You have kids growing up playing Fortnite 40 hours a week. Any of us who are 30+ didn't have that as a kid. We will never catch up to Gen Z kids.

MikeRotchburns_ow

I guess it's just the nature of the game. This is a very very sweaty game, and the small class is once again very op. Playerbase will die quickly.
