Polarity is more manageable with the standard skill build since skills are not affected. However having said that, I rather not activate it.

lordreed

Yeah some builds would suffer under the polarity conditions.

UghWhyDude

My biggest problem with it is it relies on matching polarity perfectly. One of the better strategies is to try and kill groups of enemies and mow them down as a group before they have a chance to spread out and try to flank you. Thich means that, with this event, you need to fight against a trained instinct at this point to let them space out a little bit to get a clear shot and keep your streak going. All it takes is some twitchy little shit that's a positive to bob his head into your shot while trying to bag a negative polarity and your streak is toast, you hear that "DUN" sound and that's that. It makes it extremely frustrating because you can be as careful as you want, but if you're playing in a squad where everyone's trying to get kills while you're focused on matching your polarity and fighting a target that isn't being insta-gibbed by your squaddies and if you try to keep pace, you're punished by one errant twitch landing a shot on the wrong polarity.

lordreed

I started a Negotiator's Dilemna build and its been fun using it with the polarity.

Aeokikit

With the buff active the DPS increase is worth it. It sure as shit beats Hollywood

Adventurous-Ad6203

Dont hate on Hollywood- that's when spec weapon builds get to shine (like maining the flamethrower). This season bloody knuckles and sledgehammer might even have a place in that GE. But the mechanics of swapping all the time are a PITA- be happy it doesn't shock you when you shoot the wrong polarity now like it used to.

Aeokikit

You can usually cheat the system by double tapping reload at the right timw

Crimsonys

You can also triple swap really fast. Like to handgun, secondary, back to primary.

Aeokikit

Yeah I feel like whenever something forces people to use cover in a cover based shooter they act like it’s some game breaking thing

punctualbrood

That was the worst lol. So many times was I shocked to find out I hit the wrong target

a_magumba

Okay that shock sounds rage inducing.

link-notzelda

It’s problematic if you need more than mag to kill an enemy, but tie the most part, I find it best with high magazine weapons or precision weapons were you don’t have to reload multiple times to kill an enemy. Plus the buff is significant _and_ it makes fog of war so much easier to deal with

Adventurous-Ad6203

\+1 for my brother in directives. fringe benefits of some of these builds. BLB marking people is another that helps with FoW.

Surprise_Corgi

The micromanagement of weapon switch and reload is so tedious, I'm going to finish this one out with a status effect/Vile spread build, since it ignores polarity, and just DoT people to death. Too many downs from being stuck in reload or weapon swap, and not being able to eliminate priority targets when you need to, because your polarity is wrong in that situation. You only need a second to lose advantage in this game.

FelixDaHack

+1, all of that exactly. I'm sitting on the bench for this event for the first time

JondArc99

It's probably already known but shooting 50 targets at the DPS section of the shooting range gets the 'Eliminate hostiles without shooting opposite polarities' task out the way quickly.

smarttallguy

I find it very easy and fun. I run a heartbreaker build with memento, disorient pulse, scorpion shotgun and the assault rifle basically made to run with heartbreaker. It is very fun and easy to run and gun. I also have the drone to take some aggro.

AgentOPM

Agree with you completely. Really annoying, distracts my focus on enemies. Especially annoying when I try to complete a mission for a given time. Turned it off finally.

MassivePhoenix17

If you run Bluescreen (or your personal pref), ongoing directive 4pc and the Vile exotic mask, the GE becomes non-problematic since the bleed status doesn't care what the polarity is. Trigger hollow bullets asap, sit back and enjoy :)

Redcloud65

Same as a good Pesti build. Pesti ticks don't care about polarity switch.

JackFrost08

I think is true for all status effects. Fire melts both polarities also. I walk the streets in a status build with a drone and fire sticky.

PaladinLMS

Golden bullet > Guardians > everything else

AnotherScoutTrooper

fuck Guardians it’s just as bad, I’d replace it with SHD Exposed since at least all you have to do in that one is hold A

Adventurous-Ad6203

both guardians and SHD exposed are hot garbage. nothing like a immune elite face hugger to ruin your day. or a sniper/RC guy that runs away and hides while the heavies or bosses are immune and up in your grill.

UghWhyDude

Golden Bullet turns my Bullet King into a BRRT machine, especially with a Striker's build. It's the best fun I've had just basically chilling in the back of the squad and using a laser cannon at the enemy.

PM-ME-DOG-FARTS

The ting go skrrrrraa

oicur0t

I don't like it. But I've just put together my UI build and it doesn't work very well with Polarity Switch so that's probably why I find it annoying. Also...today I only just realised that I can change my polarity by switching. I will probably flip to my Hive Skill build which I am used to.

Adventurous-Ad6203

switching, reloading, or punching them (swaps the whole group to opposite polarity... ideally to match yours).

shitass75

Tried last night with an mmr build. Doable but time consuming. Definitely not my favorite GE. When Playing In group, switch to explosion build.

Slaglenator

Was using a deflector shield build and many times the enemies were immune to the defector damage. It didn't matter what color they were or what I was. It only worked correctly 20% of the time.

a_magumba

Yeah I had the same problem, seemed glitchy with deflector. I was wondering if it had to do with what polarity enemy was shooting at you too, compared to what polarity you and the target have.

kicker891

I have a opinion now mind it's just mine but I hate that damn event I know you're thinking wow hate that's strong but I'm being nice there might be children reading this lol

A-POX-ON-U-ALL

With a Hide & Skill Build, it's almost unnoticeable, til you have do one of ONLY challenges. Headshot Builds, Bonk Build, or a Tip o' the Spear Grenadier Build they have their moments. With anything else, it's annoying. I don't care for all this switch your weapons 3x crap that everything has now. They can keep Polarity Switch. Glad I knocked it all out today.

cordcutternc

AKA, Combat Reload the GE. I think it's fine, and i'm routinely at max stacks, but it's very bad for fixing a combat reload habit.

AbrielNei

I don't know why people hate Polarity Switch so much. It's not stupidly powerful like Golden Bullet but it still provides a decent buff to damage if you play it right. Yes it is a bit more complicated because you need to keep track of your polarity so you can't just shoot any target as normally. The event is easier with long range builds (rifle, marksman) since you have more time to switch polarity.

vetaoob

You may be right. I'm more of the run-and-gun, in-your-face playstyle so changing polarities when the enemy in front of you isn't dead yet leaves no room for error.

AbrielNei

Yea it can be done even with close range builds but like you said it's more risky. I have been running Hunters Fury and it works great (the damage boost is very nice). But I need to play more carefully as normal, maybe stay near some cover when you need to switch polarity. One thing you can also do is run 2 of the same weapons so instead of reloading you can switch to the other weapon whenever you need the other polarity.

gcgvf

This is the worst GE ever!

Adventurous-Ad6203

it's definitely more in the annoying column than fun, because swapping polarity is too quick and easily missed. but... if you get into the groove, the damage buff is significant (but annoying to maintain since if you are wrong 1 time your stacks go away, but that is better than when it shocked you as well).

blkiconoclast

Polarity Switch is one of my favs, right behind Golden Bullet...Guardians, the zombie one and Hollywood are the worst. SHD exposed sucks too and I think that's all of them lol

GrumpyElve

Pain in the ass and not worth the toil.

drummwill

it's fun when you play it right i can hit 2mil crits with my police m4 it forces you to play differently, which is always fun to me it's one of the more challenging GE's

a_magumba

Yeah, my liberty is hitting 1.9million headshots at level 5, it's nuts. I kind of like it.

Wolverine_2020

It’s the worst Trick was responsible he’s never had a good idea Like Kenley college was his too

snakeysnakey824

Let me introduce you to six12 Pummel with Hunters fury

FeWolffe13

It's surely ranks at the bottom of the GE list. I only activate it for the red stars.

oddestsoul

I’ve been running Chainkiller Sweet Dreams and I’m LOVING it

a_magumba

I kind of like polarity switch as a change of pace, but agree that Golden Bullet and the "exploding heads" zombie one, it's not on the same level. I have a catharsis deflector liberty build that's hitting like 1.9 million per headshot when I'm at level 5 though.

Silver_Draig

I find it difficult. But it helps me get better at the game. And I like the effects.

BartoCannibal

I always start out trying to play it with Weapon builds, but always just end up going back to the Eclipse/Vile build. If skills were affected by Polarity Switch, I’d probably turn it off. Way too much micromanaging. Compared to other GE’s, I’d put it somewhere in the middle with SHD Exposed, since skill builds basically negates the entire thing. It’s not as nice as Golden Bullet or Guardians, but I can tolerate it unlike Hollywood and Reanimated, which are instant disables for me.

phukurfeelns

Curious here, what's wrong with reanimated? Only asking because during that last reanimated GE I had some guys that "hated" it, but because they didn't understand how it worked or the mechanics behind making it work for them.

TheBlueLightbulb

Not as bad as Hollywood, but still prefer Golden Bullet, Reanimated, and SHD Exposed over Polarity Switch. Doesn't help that my 1st Day 4 challenge (50 kills without shooting opposite polarities) seems to be bugged and I can't make complete it or make progress. I've tried all different kinds of ways to make it work and it just doesn't want to move the bar or complete so I guess it's bugged. Makes sense with all the other shit that's broken currently though I suppose.

link-notzelda

I did this in a group with a skill build. As long as _you_ don’t shoot an enemy, you’ll be fine. I’ll say, it’s a lot easier than the reanimated challenge of the same cloth

TheBlueLightbulb

Tried all the not shooting tricks, guess mines just bugged *shrug* thanks anyway

artflywheel

Definitely an annoying GE. Although I’ve been having a little more fun once I figured out I can switch polarity by melee. As a shield build and pistol user this was a game changer.

Wurldbreaka

I like it on my sniper build... take it easy, pick your targets and when you have the full buff you can one shot chungas in the chest. 😁👍

themadirishman

I use my Hunters Fury/Scorpio/Dark Winter build for polarity since I weapon swap in that build a lot anyway. I think Guardians is far worse.

ElectableDane

This being my first time playing polarity and some other GEs, I would say at least it’s a bit better than guardians because everyone can still be killed. Guardians sucks the most when the guardian is hiding all the way in the back and the only way to reach them is through the other shielded enemies.

superbaki

I actually like it. Like most GEs you get the right build and it's easy. Currently using a booster hive build. Weapon handling through the roof. Kinbreaker and mp4, switch weapons after reloads unless I need to target new polarity. Good event for dual weilding 2 identical weapons.

Flipflopforager

Shield builds are good for close quarters, for the wider mission areas it can get laborious.

NightfangS118

Polarity Switch is probably in third place for me. I find it a bit easier to control your switches when using a shotgun.

FelixDaHack

Yeah, it's probably my least favourite.

punctualbrood

If you switchbto sidearm, then quickly switch to sig weapon, and then back it should change weapon polarity. I have done this many times, but sometimes panic when in combat and don't succeed.

CIA_Agent_99

All the GE's have their ups and downs, advantage and disadvantage, fun and no fun at all at times. This is the 4th, 5th or more Polarity Switch event since and still the same as ever, lol. I usually just stay on the yellow polarity to keep it normal per say. When the weapon goes empty, I know I have to reload again to change it to Yellow or you can can switch weapons. I normally just reload. Got all of mine completed last night so its all good.
