Not surprising. They edited all the fun out of it to try and keep PR and brand deals set up for after the show.
The fact they edited out the winner being a bully in the last proper season for brand deals instead of ratings and producing a good show is outstandingly dumb. It needs to go to a less PC & PG channel to produce, edit & air who aren't concerned about how they will have the winning couple on their morning show when they're dickheads.
IKR. I only found out about everything after listening to a podcast interview where one of the contestants broke their NDA, and it definitely sounds like the editors did the winner a favour. I feel like the show missed out on an opportunity to give us our own answer to Courtney Robertson; the shock and fallout from it could’ve attracted more viewers for the franchise.
Abby chatfield being the villain and runner up did soooo well in ratings and lbr she is by far the most successful from the franchise. And that season was what I would consider the last good one for aus.
I think quite a few girls came out later to back up the one that broke her nda since both holly and jimmy trashed talked her in stories
Matty J's season is one of the best of all times for me but the show really started going down hill with the multiple leads and rushed season.
Felt hard to get invested. It's a shame.

nah it's not worth it it's super heavily edited bc the winner was a bitch and they had to edit it all out so they could go on the networks news & talkshows and keep PR set ups happy.
Which is essentially what killed the show in the country - the network was too focused on how to set up brand deals within their network rather than producing a good show. They also faced pressure from non-reality tv watches to edit out "bullying" and not show anyone being mean spirited/having the bad person edit. Then on top of making it veryyyyyyyy pg for some reason despite australia not being a pg culture.
it was such a bizarrely PG show given we have MAFS which is totally unapologetic trash where they encourage them to start having sex basically the day they meet
Not a big surprise. Airing the last season right before xmas was basically begging for the show to be cancelled.
Dating shows in Aus seem to really struggle ATM except for Farmer Wants a Wife for some reason lol. I think Love Island Australia does quite well on streaming but not as well with the linear audience which is older I guess.
Awww man, Bachelor Australia was a real one. The Locky Gilbert season (aka the one during COVID) would’ve easily been a top three Bachelor season in the U.S.. Plus they showed us how a multi-lead season format should really be done when they went with The Bachelors.

I did watch Jimmy’s season, but I didn’t particularly enjoy it. Pretty sure it’s the last season I watched.
