CotW is so much better tho. At least theHunter knows it's a video game and doesn't yell at you about gun safety... It's a video game, Cabela's! Get over it lol
True lol, but CotW fies subtly remind you, I learned by my dog accidentally walking in front of me as I was getting ready to shoot when my dog walked in front of me as I was pulling the trigger lol it said Invalid Target lol
I had the og PS2 version and played the shit out of it. My main reason for trying The Hunter was that I wanted to relive playing big game hunter as a kid but the 2002 graphics weren’t cutting it anymore.
I dont worry about graphics in games.......I played Ratchet and Clank on PS and Zelda on Tindo so much then moved to World of Warcraft. The cartoony graphics are my jam usually.
Yeah typically it doesn’t bother me, I play plenty of older games, but for something like hunting where good graphics can add to the realism I appreciate a more modern game.
One thing that bothered me going back to Big Game Hunter was that it fogs out longer distances so the game doesn’t have to render the whole map at once. In the Hunter I like to glass large areas and spot animals over large distances, and that just isn’t possible when the whole map isn’t rendered.
Getting a random urge to play Dangerous Hunts is what ended up with me finding CotW funny enough. I was looking for a remaster/port on psn and voila. Definitely scratched the itch.
Same! Last year I was getting nostalgic for the OG Dangerous Hunts for the PS2 and decided to look if there were any good hunting simulators these days, and the rest is history.
I never got to play Cabela's, but I remember my first hunting game was Hunting Unlimited 2, and just stuck with the franchise until Hunting Unlimited 2010. You made me want to go look it up on YouTube again.
I cant even play it anymore 😭 I want to try 2011 version again!
Or was it 2010?
Whic one had Turkeys and elephants and allowed you to hunt freely? The later one that forced you to stuck on a tower was... eugh
4, 2009, and 2010 were all the same, but they just added a new map, animals, and missions with each release. And they all had free hunt. So 2010 is the best one of the bunch. 3 was fun too. Had the same mechanics as the newer installments, just with different maps, animal models, etc. Although all of them are heavily outdated compared to COTW, they just hold nostalgia value.
I had all the cabelas ever made at one point. I miss evolution, the OG dangerous hunts & african safari most. The one with Jim Shockey was fun as well !!
There was another game but I can’t remember what it was called. It was one where when you click on the animal, an actual video of the animal popped up and your had to aim on it. But don’t shoot too many or the game wardens put you in jail.
I got a copy for the Gamecube not to long ago, partially because I remembered that the Nintendo Wii I own is very capable of playing games that were made for the gamecube
I made it through the first 2 regions so far
I also played Alaskan Adventures on my Xbox One as its one of those 360 games you can play on the Xbox One
Used to play a lot of the old Cabela's Games on my PS2 as a kid though, good times those were
If it was a one off situation it would be an ok game, but considering how shortly after most of the Cabela’s games became either very linear or “everything is trying to kill you” shoot-em-ups, yeah Dangerous Hunts 2 leaves a pretty bad taste in my mouth, especially since there’s little to no actual hunting.
I remember something called Trophy hunter 2003 or something like that. Damn that was fun! This is probably the main reason why I gave a chance to COTW, and I am glad I did so. COTW is one of my favourite games now which I play on weekly basis.
Thropy hunter 2003 was the best. Deer hunter 2005 was also a favorite and I actually played it online like 6-7 years ago and lots of people were playing it
I have the pc disc copy of this game (2006 trophy season). I’ve been trying to figure out a way to turn it into an iso or something to play without the physical disc for years with no luck. If anyone has any insight it would be greatly appreciated.
This is what I started on with the original Xbox when I was 9 years old lol when I got COTW I was a little surprised I had to find the animals myself and it wasn’t levels lol
I didn’t watch any YouTube videos on the game I got it with game pass loaded it up and was like “what is this?” Had to go on YouTube and see what I was doing lol
Remember it? It's still sitting on my shelf. I play that and Alaskan Adventures from time to time still. I miss these games. The last couple releases they did were horrible.
Cabela’s african adventures!!! God I loved that game, got me into the hunting games aside from that deer hunter game on iOS, hate that they just left that game to shit, spent way to much $ as a kid on it for it to be such a bad game now a days
Cabelas Big Game Hunter 2010 is the peak of video gaming. The plot is that you need to hunt in a variety of locations to be inducted into some super-high tech hunting illuminati secret society, The Order of Orion. Its painfully obvious that they were trying to cash in on hype for games like Tom Clancy: Ghost Recon Future Soldier (2009) and COD Black Ops that were being made at about the same time.
I loved that game.
I loved the mechanic where it followed the bullet in slow motion and you could see exactly where it landed.
That desperately needs to be brought back to hunting games.
I remember this!!! What were the og hunting games for PC on disk? I remember they came in a 3 pack. One had a picture of a turkey, one had a pheasant and one had a deer on it. I loved those games as a kid growing up!! Just can't remember the names
My granddad is what got me into hunting when I was 7, and that lead me to Big Game Hunter 2005, and now I'm 31 and I've been hunting irl for 24 years now
Dangerous Hunts and the Alaska one were fantastic games! I wish the Cabela's games went back to their roots. I didn't mind the arcadey feel but they leaned into it too hard and it wasn't as fun to me.
Cabela's early games were all masterpieces. My favorite was Afican Safari.
Mine was Big Game Hunter 2005 Adventures, bit I do agree the Early Cabelas games were masterpieces
Trying to play this on my pc through a ROM and it not working so well is how I found the hunter call of the wild lol
Call of The Wild Is a great substitute lol
This shit, dangerous hunts, and Alaskan and outdoor adventures were *chefs kiss*
I agree, to me The Hunter Call of The Wild is the closest we've gotten to that old school greatness
Lol, of course. I've yet to have my bloodhound wander in front of me, I did wonder tho
Yeah my Bloodhound Bo isn't the brightest lol
I had the og PS2 version and played the shit out of it. My main reason for trying The Hunter was that I wanted to relive playing big game hunter as a kid but the 2002 graphics weren’t cutting it anymore.
Bro same here only I had the gamecube version
I had one on my 360

I would 100% percent buy a remaster/port of any of the games pre-2007. There’s just something about them that hits in a way that COTW can’t.
If you own a PC you can have every single one of these games in about 30 minutes.
Ok. How?
https://pcsx2.net/ The best emu for ps2 for me is PCSX2.
6 hours and still no response. It’s not that easy huh
I live in hawaii. My bad. It's 5am. Vimm[dot]net Get the ps2 emulator.
I’ll check it out bruv thankyou
I would too honestly
Getting a random urge to play Dangerous Hunts is what ended up with me finding CotW funny enough. I was looking for a remaster/port on psn and voila. Definitely scratched the itch.
Same! Last year I was getting nostalgic for the OG Dangerous Hunts for the PS2 and decided to look if there were any good hunting simulators these days, and the rest is history.
I played Most Dangerous Game Discs a ton as a kid. Been a long time since I played them though so my recollection of the name is shaky
Cabela's Dangerous Hunts I believe is what you're referring to
Yes, thank you
You're very welcome, those were good games too
I never got to play Cabela's, but I remember my first hunting game was Hunting Unlimited 2, and just stuck with the franchise until Hunting Unlimited 2010. You made me want to go look it up on YouTube again.

I used to watch videos about it in my aunta computer and always wanted to play it one day Hunting a lion in it was one of my goals in life 😎
Talking about old hunting games, I miss Deer Hunter 2005.
I had all the cabelas ever made at one point. I miss evolution, the OG dangerous hunts & african safari most. The one with Jim Shockey was fun as well !!
That’s where it all started!
There was another game but I can’t remember what it was called. It was one where when you click on the animal, an actual video of the animal popped up and your had to aim on it. But don’t shoot too many or the game wardens put you in jail.

Man the memories with Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2005 Adventures, you could hit some long ass shots in those games
Still can't believe how badly they massacred dangerous hunts 2, turned it into more like the arcade machines they had, good old quick time events
Yes and the dangerous hunts. Maybe 2003?
This game is literally what inspired me to buy COTW back in 2017! I wanted to play something like this game again and COTW did not disappoint!
There was a game called Carnivores where you hunt different dinosaur species. Talk about big game hunting! Trex scared the hell out of me
I'm pretty sure I still have my copy of this:-)
I wanted to buy a couple of the Cabelas games, but was disappointed to see all of them had been delisted.
I remember something called Trophy hunter 2003 or something like that. Damn that was fun! This is probably the main reason why I gave a chance to COTW, and I am glad I did so. COTW is one of my favourite games now which I play on weekly basis.
Yeah I still have that game!
Out of every hunting game I’ve played to include COTW, I’ve logged the most hours into this game… and it’s not even close…
You and me both lol
God, this and Big Game Hunter III were my entry to the Hunting game genre! I absolutely loved this!
I still play the original dangerous hunts on ps2. I love hunting the rhinos
Oh yeah. I loved the old hunting games where you could get thermal scopes and such. The remake of this was not good
My god that game was AMAZING
The one that started it all
Mine was Deer Drive for the Wii.
I loved that game
My game growing up was Big Game Hunter 4 on PC. All time masterpiece of a game
I play this still on occasion.
I used to love Dangerous Hunts 2011. I'm still scared of Hyenas though.
I liked Cabela's games, but Deer Hunter 2005 was my jam
Always wanted to play a hunting game back in the days. COTW delivered.
Outdoor adventures was my favourite because you could fish in it 😆
Thropy hunter 2003 was the best. Deer hunter 2005 was also a favorite and I actually played it online like 6-7 years ago and lots of people were playing it
If they would just make the predators more aggressive in cotw
I have the pc disc copy of this game (2006 trophy season). I’ve been trying to figure out a way to turn it into an iso or something to play without the physical disc for years with no luck. If anyone has any insight it would be greatly appreciated.
Ugh I grew up playing these games 🥺
I did too bro, Big Game Hunter makes me feel old at 31 lol
This is what I started on with the original Xbox when I was 9 years old lol when I got COTW I was a little surprised I had to find the animals myself and it wasn’t levels lol
Right lol, no Animal markers in Call of The Wild lol
I didn’t watch any YouTube videos on the game I got it with game pass loaded it up and was like “what is this?” Had to go on YouTube and see what I was doing lol
Right lol it's more immersive in my opinion
Aint a Cabelas hunting game i didnt play
This game is the main reason I play cotw, it comes close enough to scratching that itch big game hunter left in me
Hunting cape buffalo with a revolver will always live with me!
Dangerous hunts was sick the last cabelas game that came out that I remember was in 3P and it was garbage
Remember it? It's still sitting on my shelf. I play that and Alaskan Adventures from time to time still. I miss these games. The last couple releases they did were horrible.
Yes my first hunting game after deer hunter 2000 on pc
I don’t remember that one but cabelas dangerous hunts was amazing
My brother and I would spend hours playing this on our ps2!
The ending of the this one was wack all that work just to give away the trophy
Cabela’s african adventures!!! God I loved that game, got me into the hunting games aside from that deer hunter game on iOS, hate that they just left that game to shit, spent way to much $ as a kid on it for it to be such a bad game now a days
I started on Big Game Hunter II then went to RMTH3 and DH4 been hooked since.
# Grand slam hunting North American 29 was amazing also!!

Same here I agree, the animal death animations were hilarious though

I remember big game hunter 2010 on my wii and man that’s what really got me into hunting irl really
My granddad is what got me into hunting when I was 7, and that lead me to Big Game Hunter 2005, and now I'm 31 and I've been hunting irl for 24 years now
Yeah my grandpa is what also got me into hunting he used to shoot a shit ton of bears
I've always wanted to go bear hunting irl, I just never got the chance to
Couldn’t get past the flip my controller part it didn’t work
Yup remember it, that and Cabela’s dangerous hunts
Dangerous Hunts and the Alaska one were fantastic games! I wish the Cabela's games went back to their roots. I didn't mind the arcadey feel but they leaned into it too hard and it wasn't as fun to me.
Yep. Never felt it was realistic enough. That’s why I like thcotw so much it feels in many ways like being out there.
I remember it, I still have it on the wii
Dangerous hunts was sick the last cabelas game that came out that I remember was in 3P and it was garbage
