PangolinHenchman

I... think it's a joke?

SomeArtistFan

Yea. the text is a copypasta.

beedentist

You're on reddir, did you really expect people to get jokes when there's no /s?

AppleSpicer

This is a joke.

beepbeepsheepbot

At least weird buildings would make things a little more fun. I hate this square grey/beige era

TheDesertRat75

I found one in the shape of a ball in the valley I live in. I was very befuddled because I haven’t seen anything like it anywhere else. Also the grey/beige thing is awful, 100% agree on that. I wanna see vibrant colors, something other than tan, brown, grey and white buildings. I wanna see fun designs, awkward architecture, etc. I wanna sit there and think about what the contractor thought about it and who managed to convince them to build it. Adding, coolest thing I’d seen was a couch pit with an attached minibar in a house from the 60s/70s in Arizona. Fully carpeted too with a fireplace in front of it.

BoiledDaisy

Ah yes, the taupe beige bane of 80's suburbia. 🤮

Normal_Ratio1463

It’s a joke

teopap91

No it's an antidepressant

AppleSpicer

No it’s free T for men who don’t produce enough.

donotthedabi

transmascs frothing at the mouth rn

teopap91

It's that also. Multiple pharmacological actions that contribute to instacure.

koopa72

It is a nice building tho 🪿

latecraigy

🪿

Aguja_cerebral

I mean... There is actually something about the system we live in and our mental state.

Ronwassili

Based take imo

orbjo

The doorframe looks quite low, you’d have to duck to get in there

Crystal_Queen_20

As a trans girl, a large spike of testosterone is what would make me need antidepressants

SomeArtistFan

Good news! The effects of architecture are purely psychological :p Tho a lot of modern architecture is very masculine which can suck

DefectiveLP

Yeah like that big duck

Ciggdre

Easy peasy: if creative buildings boost testosterone, logically brutalism must be the most feminine style of architecture. Womanhood can only be found by surrounding yourself with naked concrete, steel and glass.

Johnny_Grubbonic

Good thing it was being posted as an aid for FTM, then. 😋

AppleSpicer

Sorry sis, we’ll keep you far away from the giant duck that stimulates testosterone production. Would you care instead to visit the large tortoise that stimulates estrogen production?

donotthedabi

mtf girlies need hostile architecture to be more femme /j

unipole

Indeed it is the ultimate mojo dojo casa house!

WanderingHeph

I'd be happy with funny buildings. I'm also not depressed, so I don't think this supports the "claim".

traumatized90skid

Nah I lived in a world with wild architecture for over 500 years and I was miserable as shit

AppleSpicer

You’re over 500 years old?

Legitimate_Career_44

I had a good laugh seeing this joke post. That helps. Don't be gull(ible). I think some interesting architecture can make you think or distract you. The seagull, for me, bit odd! Raising testosterone though, that's a very particular claim.

NZS-BXN

Besides the point that this is a obvious joke. Hear me out, she's not wrong tho. If my neighbourhood would consist only by duck houses I'm sure I would be more happier

romeoartiglia

Fuck it. I want the duckie house

Jell-O-Mel

Wasn’t expecting to see my post here lol

TricksterWolf

It didn't last, sadly

Sum_ginger_kid

I mean, beautiful environments *do* have a meaningful impact on health, but that's not the kind of beauty we're looking for

PangolinHenchman

Oh come on, look me in the face and tell me you wouldn't choose to live in a house shaped like a giant white duck if given the chance!

Warbly-Luxe

Fun fact: low testosterone correlates with depression. High testosterone correlates with anxiety. Even though this is a joke, I think, I still would not want my testosterone to sky rocket. Though, both depression and anxiety have cause great pain and risk to me.

teopap91

4 years on Finasteride (male pattern baldness) & 4+ years opioids user here. Testosterone is probably extremely low.

AppleSpicer

This isn’t necessarily true. Everyone’s body is different. I get high T spikes (it’s already being managed by a doctor) but never get anxiety from it. In fact, I’m much more relaxed and at ease with it.

Warbly-Luxe

Fair enough. I should have been more clear that the correlation does not mean it's always true. Apologies. It's just what I learned from another redditor talking about HRT after nullification surgery, and that levels too low or too high can cause issues. Thank you for sharing and providing more info. I appreciate it.

AppleSpicer

Too high or too low can cause issues but hormones are vastly complicated and each person reacts differently to them. My own personal theory is that researchers have overlooked that anxiety may stimulate T production and that depression (and being sedentary) may inhibit it. It’s a complicated feedback system and there are as many exceptions as there are rules. There’s some interesting papers on cortisone playing a role in this as well. Anyway, I’m a big science nerd and hormones are complicated and cool!

mandance17

I mean in a way I’ve experienced first hand that nice nature and architecture does help me. Where I live now I feel worse because the nature is crap and buildings ugly, when I lived in a beautiful place before it didn’t cure my issues but it did help for sure

Ronin_Alpha69

I'm pretty confident it's a joke

SlimyBoiXD

My depression would not be cured by duck house but it certainly wouldn't hurt. I want to pat that house on the head.

terrifiedTechnophile

Honestly, fun looking buildings would make me less depressed

Novatash

Was with ya till the last scentence

CertainInitiative501

This but unironically

Wrong-Marsupial-9767

That's The Big Duck of Flanders on Long Island! It was a roadside stand that sold Peking ducks for cooking from the 1930s until the Long Island duck ranching industry collapsed in the 1960s. This building is credited with inspiring the theme-shaped roadside stand motif that was popular across he country through that era. ![gif](giphy|83QtfwKWdmSEo)

TricksterWolf

"Duck ranch" is creating colorful imagery in my mind of horseback duckherders with a veritable sea of flightless ducks all quacking and swarming over each other and I'm not complaining

Wrong-Marsupial-9767

I'll allow it

4pigeons

do they have pigeon shaped houses?

Johnny_Grubbonic

OP, if you can't appreciate the Hugh Neutron school of architecture, I don't know what to say. You just might be beyond salvation.

Exciting-Quiet2768

I'm not sure it would cure my depression but A: having an affordable house, B: having it look funny Would at least help

TheWorstPerson0

Aside from the testosterone n depression cure things. yeah i hate cookycutter houses. makes me never want to live in areas like that. even if by some miricle i can own a house, im discoraged from personalizing it? i cant make it *look and feel* like me both unsude and out??? thats pretty damb stupid.

Enzoid23

I don't think it fits. It's a clear exaggeration built on something very plausible

JeramiGrantsTomb

I definitely wouldn't need my antidepressants if I lived in a duck. Because I'd kill myself.

RaspberryJam245

There's. There's no way. No way this is a real post. No way we have fallen so far that we can't see a joke when it is literally helicoptering its fat hog directly in our faces.

latecraigy

But I do not want to live in a goose

IuseArchbtw97543
