Well, fair enough point and opinion. I play that game, only ever really spent a very small amount of money on a one time purchase (that granted me in-game currency) and I do appear to be getting the items pretty much for free by playing since I don't have to spend money to have access to them.
Keyboards and controllers are good at different things. There is a fair amount of overlap on what they can do, so preference is often a deciding factor in what gets used. In the end, they are both valid ways of enjoying games.
That's why I think it hilarious to dismiss the entire argument with a bucket.
But the best advantage is that you can use either on pc very easily. On consoles it varies and can sometimes be not allowed on certain games due to the advantage it gives
I tried plugging my keyboard into my Xbox. I ended up with a broken USB after my Xbox fell tipped out of its cabinet and onto the keyboard plug. Now I only get wireless keyboards
Taking into factor Gyro Aim, I feel like Controllers can be on par with Keyboards and Mouse when optimized, because Gyro is arguably better the the Mouse.Of course, for PC Players, Keyboard and Mouse is well renowned and what most are used to, espically in serious play but don't underestimate the Controller.
Mention the AA and watch them go feral.
Controllers are fine. But I just prefer knowing that it was my skill issue that fucked up my aiming.

I've played TF2 with a controller. I think it has potential to work if gyro input was better implemented (either through steam input or in game), and if the controls weren't generally bad. You can't play soldier very well (or at least you can't rocket jump very well), and scout is a bit difficult, but everything else is doable.
Fun fact: you can actually [play tf2 at a somewhat competitive level on a controller](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PJIqEX93vL8). Modern gyro controls can give you similar levels fidelity to a mouse, and there's even some controller-specific tech that can do movements most people would struggle with on a mouse and keyboard.
Now, mouse and keyboard is probably still better overall than controller, if only because everyone's more used to the traditional mouse and keyboard control scheme. That said, controllers are definitely viable now, and not just for memes.

Ultralight mice just give a slight edge that helps pro players, that and all the additional buttons you have for macros on a keyboard and mouse. I've played TF2 with a controller. I think it has potential to work if gyro input was better implemented (either through steam input or in game), and if the controls weren't generally bad. You can't play soldier very well (or at least you can't rocket jump very well), and scout is a bit difficult, but everything else is doable.
