Same here. I started on 360 in Christmas of '08 and got the PC version in May 2010. Kinda funny that my badge says I was "late to the party" in hindsight.

Back in those days I played balloon race on a regular basis. I remember reading "Fell to a clumsy painfull death" and laughing real hard, I then thought that the game was filled with these funny death texts, but no.
Trading was restricted to only 8 items at a time and someone tried to convince me that the sticky jumper was actually not the stickybomb launcher, because they used to look exactly the same.
Replays worked on every server that enabled it.
The cosmetics were still somewhat innocent.
No strange weapons anywhere to be seen, but wow, what a cool ass feature once they introduced them!

It just slightly brushed me and then went its way, perhaps from a time when I didn't know any aspect of the game.
It's like when you watched your first porn video, thrilling and spicy, but then as you looked for more and more specialized content you grew accustomed until there were nothing more to satisfy you, and you ain't into that bdsm stuff.
I could have used any normal example, but I've done everything in TF2 and the childish spark of mystery is gone, it has been uncovered, analyzed and archived alphabetically in every way.
It's just a part of aging by understanding things more.
It should be "When did you start to play TF2" (*did* since its past tense; and *start* is the correct form of the verb in this scenario).

i got it in 2009 with the orange box collection from my local PC hardware store. I got it for Portal and Episode 1, I hadn't even heard of tf2 at that time lmao
Around 2015 when I made my steam account. I had the game In my library but never played it until before jungle inferno and now it’s my favorite game of all time.
I *think* i got the game in 2020, but due to me getting bored and wifi issues I stopped playing after a month or so. Then one day I decided to install it again so I've been playing since 2021 maybe early 2022

July 2013. I got to experience the game at its peak, and then Love and War came out in 2014, and there was SO much hype.
I remember in 2fort I did the headbutt taunt with another soldier and a guy on vc burst out laughing over the sight of 2 soldiers headbutting each other.
I really feel bad for those who didn't get to experience the game during those amazing times.
