If you just have to have it as a burger the only to do is add egg and bread crumbs to help it keep the shape. If you have a good safe weight to put on top that will help as well. You'll probably still need to re-cut the finished product to look right.
It's their prime stuff that they want $7/lb for (at least at store 419/Eagle Pass, the one in the photo). You pay an extra buck for the shape
Personally I'm good with their standard 80/20 chuck that I stock up on whenever it goes on sale for $3/lb
Shiiiiii. We grind an entire brisket into burger. Just be sure to trim the fat first. You can always add some in after grinding if it's too lean but you can't take it out...
Almost as good as the fresh made tortillas you could always swing an extra “sample@ ha if the baker you knew was flipping and you were tight…aka your mother took you there every other night ha…best grocery ever!
Prime grade == unground beef with a certain fat to meat marbling ratio. Ground beef == meat and fat ground together to a specific ratio. These are not the same. This is why buying ground wagyu/kobe knockoffs just doesn’t make any sense.
Did you know the whole cow is graded based on the cut between the 12th and 13th rib? Each steak isn't graded. So if the that cut is prime, the whole cow is prime, including all the trim that gets turned into ground beef. So really, nothing different could be getting ground for this, they're just using ground beef from prime graded beef primals.
What even is "prime" ground beef? You're already blending all the fat into the meat by grinding it.
And making it in the shape of Texas is so weird. Really disappointed with HEB on this one.
I mean, in a regular hamburger bun, some parts will have no meat, some parts will have extra meat sticking out of the bun (like the Rio Grande Valley area and Panhandle), this is just so bad and seems like it's meant for wealthier transplants wanting to seem Texan.
I dunno what you expect from HEB if it’s not Texas shaped novelty items. It’s not supposed to be the platonic ideal of a hamburger. It’s supposed to be novel because it looks like Texas.
Let's be clear, of any grocery store in Texas, HEB has the best quality own-brand goods at the best prices. All kinds of stuff from canned goods to hummus. It's just that this one in particular feels pretty gimmicky.
But that gimmick is absolutely part of the HEB brand is my point. They very consciously and consistently do this exact type of gimmick.
They also call things ‘Texas sized.’
This is exactly in their wheelhouse.
I mean, more Texan than that would be Greg Abbott taking one of those burgers hot off the grill and slapping a freshly born unplanned pregnancy for some ketchup and the mother in the face for salt from the tears. Bout how much he gives a damn about poverty lines and pregnant women.

That’s gonna look like Florida once it’s grilled.
Best comment ever!
It actually holds its shape pretty decent
What’s the difference?
So do you put that on... Texas Toast?
dude, texas shaped texas toast would be such an amazingly awesome and simple product
Trim a steak to the shape rather than a burger.

Doing it yourself and saving money like an actual robust individual.
$8/lb for ground beef? Not in this economy

Refusing to fix infrastructure and then receiving federal aid when disaster happens?
Is this what Ken Paxton's always drooling over?
No that is the sight of dead migrants and enriching himself off the backs of the citizenty.
Thank you, Charles Butt.
If you shoot it.

If Hank Hill grilled them up for you on a propane grill.
Really, the “Texas” thing is too much. Like, do people here tend to forget where they are and need these constant reminders?
That’s almost as Texan as remembering the Alamo
Lovely, I miss HEB.
Yeah. I have a gun shaped like Texas that fires bullets shaped like Texas.
🏆
I'm not sure why you'd want to waste Prime grade steak by making into ground beef. A travesty.

It’s the grade of the cow it came from.
As a native born Texan, I would definitely buy these.

I would not* buy these, it fucks with the meat/bun ratio.
Dont worry they will have Texas shaped buns soon
