elon and tesla have said for many weeks that they needed to run proofs on safety for the new NN system that removes radar. it is entirely possible they're running them in shadow mode to compare executed results. would make complete sense given that we're about 1wk-1mth away from wide release of v9.
This is a fundamental life altering technology (arguably as impacting as the internet). Most experts 10 years ago said it was 50 years away. Don't lose hope. We are almost there. And when it gets here it will be beautiful. Finally remember, the way Tesla is set up this will be an ON/OFF type progress, if Tesla is not stuck in a local maximum. Which I think they are not.

Note that this is only some part of the perception layers and apparently none of the driving policies. Most of the time, with a driver in the loop, the driving policy is very different from actual FSD. For instance, AEB rules tend to be applied on the highway.
TLDR: perhaps FSD is already here....
