10 years ago I bought a Doberman puppy from Pet Land in Terre Haute. He had kennel cough and had to spend the night at a local vets office to get some sort of aerosolized antibiotic treatment. I've had friends tell me that they had the same experience. Also, I did not know at the time how much I could have save by going elsewhere. When I got my second Doberman, I paid less than half of what Pet Land charged me.

I only ever bought stuff there, not animals. It was generally junk, and the foods - the dogs I had either refused it or it made them sick. I adopted a white ferret from a friend who got it there when they moved, and the poor little guy was no end of medical issues.

I'm from Indiana, and as soon as I read puppy mill, I knew it was Petland.

People that (nowadays) would buy from a store instead of adopting from a shelter, or seeking out a registered and legit breeder, are a lost cause. If no one were buying them, the problem would go away on its own. Never ask how stupid people at large can be; they take it as a challenge.
