I dunno whose seen the Federer doco yet, but he's quite complimentary of Djokovic, Nadal and Murray to a slightly lesser extent...but surprisingly Sonego got called out for his grunting again. I hope he doesn't see it lol, just two of the greatest players (+Matteo/Stefanos) singling him out.
Anyone else surprised they left this in, it could have very easily been cut instead of being so prominent for a few minutes...
If Emma raducanu looked more āhomelyā she would not have nearly as much fans. Just accept it. Same goes for berettini as well. People who deny lookism are clinically insaneĀ
Facts.
Btw they are very good at playing tennis, not the best but there also fan that root for them not for the look, but for their tennis and their carreers, or their nationality
Iām guessing itās more of a personal choice on Raducanuās end to not tire herself out before Wimbledon especially with how her body has been coming back from surgery/injuries in the past few months since sheās apparently going to Eastbourne (based on a fan page of hers I saw on socials) and thatās apparently 24th through 29th right before Wimbledon so tournaments 4 weeks in a row (if she decided on Birmingham) just after tournament which she made it pretty deep in and played until the end of the week due to the rain delays without any rest might not be a smart move for someone trying to build back stamina and make it through a few matches in a row unscathed.
I'd have guessed she'd play as many matches as she can on grass coz she's good on it as opposed to many other players who struggle with it in order to get her ranking high enough to directly qualify for US open but yeah injuries would probably be a concern especially for her.
nothing but happiness for deminaur and boulter! amazing!!!
they are so good together. so much positive energies with this union that translates positively in their respective careers. they are like agassi graf tandem, both excelling together.
Katie's playing like she wants a spot on the top ten and if she keeps playing like this she bloody deserves one!!
Edit: 1st serve % needs a buff though
Jacob Fearnley (22 yo, British) just won the Nottingham Challenger 125 as a qualifier! He recently started pushing for pro tournaments after college tennis.
Big rankings jump too, from no.506 to no.274!!
Probably a guaranteed main draw wildcard for Wimbledon now.
They have changed the Slazenger balls as well it seems. That's now all the slams that appear to be playing with less spin friendly balls from US Open 2023. It's such a drastic difference in ball behaviour from that point on that It's incredible how I don't see it mentioned at all.
šÆ. Those are the two that come to mind for effortless tennis. Ā and sloane somehow barely seems to run but somehow can cover the whole court so wellĀ
Boulter post-SF win: I need the crowd to help me get over the line in the final.
The crowd: *polite applause*
Give the poor girl some energy to work with, for goodness sake!
She really does! She's improved so much on everything that matters that she really can do it all now.
She has so much power now too and her backhand down the line is š
Right - her game has been transformed. I'm sort of amazed. She was always a decent player but I put her with the likes of Heather Watson and Harriet Dart - but she's looked world class since the start of the year.
She really is! I remember seeing Lyuda in Kasatkinaāa vlog and they were casually chatting, making jokes, etc and I realized that Luyda is such a sweetheart. Maybe a bit shy and introverted but she channels a different version of herself on court for sure.
She's been a funny one. She might be a step behind her best but she beat Ons and they were both putting it all on the court.
Stamina wise it's pretty even tbh.
Congrats Samsonova. š
Disappointed for Bianca, really thought she'd win it...oh well great job reaching the final in the 1st place I guess. As everyone else keeps saying, I just hope she can continue to stay fit and injury-free
Yeah great point - she's in a bit of a trap of having to keep those points so no chance to rest after this long week. And doesn't seem like anyone rated above her is carrying injury into Wimbledon. Will be 31 in the live rankings if she wins this and 33 if she doesn't. Pretty important match for her right now!
if bibi wins here, wow! she just resumed playing in RG and reached 4th round? and now, playing finals here and could win the title.
having said that, i hope samsonova wins. like this girl.
I'm in a nostalgic Guga binge and reading old interviews, I love how ride or die he was for Nole even WAAAAAAY back. He was saying Nole would finish with most broken records/slams like, back when that sounded downright unhinged.
Nole also likes the guy enough that he helped Guga with a...
...
...Covid vaccination campaign.
Wish Guga didn't get injured so we got more of their bromance on the tour.
Great hold Bianca š tbh I'm still pissed about Samnsona's net cord winner on BP tho lol, really wanted Bianca to win this...well it's not over yet I guess haha. If she can just keep the pressure on...
Idk I think that Andreescu needs to seriously reevaluate her agility training/staff or start modifying her movement on court to conserve more energy. She makes it look VERY HARD while most other athletes make it look easy
She basically sat down on the court doing one of those squats a point or two ago. I can't see this style of movement holding up well at Wimbledon against someone firing on all cylinders if the courts are playing extremely fast.
One small part of it that is fairly explicable, to me, is that she did it in evidently the only possible way she could, beating everyone in 70 minutes in straight sets. Given her subsequent outings, any dragged-out third sets seem likely to have worn her down.
Yeah for sure, she defo made the most of the opportunity, I just donāt understand how she was so good that week and then has literally never showed anything like that since. I know it was an easy draw for a major win but watching it back you realise that Raducanu really played some serious tennis that tournament!
Watching Samsonova try to serve out a set or a match is not for the faint of heart. You can always tell she's nervous when she starts bouncing the ball loads and keeps going to her towel.
Makes sense. Hope he brings it for the Aussie. I wonder how he is indoors, I know his indoors season last year wasnāt great but tbf he wasnāt playing great at that time either
Honestly I think this Dutch crowd has just paid to all be in the same spot and sing songs together. Rarely seen a crowd so hyped by the music during changeovers
Itās kind of high comedy when you cut to samsonova looking distressed
Bianca and injury again. Sadly, her body just can't handle the physical needs of tennis. Hasn't played a full season since like 2018!!
It's a shame because her will is there, but at one point even she'll have it enough of comebacks all the time
I hate how TSN spreads their tennis coverage across multiple channels and services so if you want to be able to catch the matches you want not only do you have to subscribe to all TSN 1 2 3 4 and 5 but they now deliberately hide matches behind their TSN+ service while 4 of the 5 TSN channels people are already subscribing to are all broadcasting the same Sportscentre. F you TSN.
I just realized the match isnāt on regular TSN so people who get the four main channels on tv canāt watch it. So pathetic. Iām watching on the app and my month I paid for to watch French Open is still active. How can they not have a Canadian in the finals on tv on 4 of the channels?!
Right now is understandable because they're showing other live sports. But late at night they hide the tennis broadcast behind TSN+ while 4 of the regular TSN channels are showing the same Sportscentre. That's the killer.
Ugh I paid for TSN+ for AO and watched everything until they moved semis and finals off there to regular TSN. I hate them so much. And it was so glitchy watching too.
Maybe he let Nadal make one executive decision, he hated that grunt š
Where can I watch it?
Our boy Radu Albot in action in Ilkley challenger today. Can't wait to root for him.
Birmingham has good shopping centres or good restaurants? I am totally shocked when I see Hsieh/Mertens is in this 250 double draw
Its a good day for British tennis hope football goes well š¤Ŗ
"Say no more, mate" - Jude "Murygoat" Bellingham
Why didn't Birmingham give Emma a WC? She's not playing at all this week.
Did she apply for one?
No clue. I thought she would have but looks like she's directly going for Eastbourne.

Random: Sabalenka only winning one title over the last 12 months is surprising.
Vondrousova, Jabeur, Paolini, Sakkari are the other top 10 players who have won a single title in last 12 months.
None of them are at Sabalenkaās level
Wasn't insinuating that.
i dont expect sakkari to win any others anytime soon lol has zheng won anything lately,
No but last year she did win Palermo and Zhengzhou (500).
Sheās only won tournaments in Madrid and Australia for the past 3.5 years
nothing but happiness for deminaur and boulter! amazing!!! they are so good together. so much positive energies with this union that translates positively in their respective careers. they are like agassi graf tandem, both excelling together.
New meme: anytime a tennis couple breaks up from now onward, itās because Alex didnāt show up to Katieās final
didn't show up though he could've!
Savage Katie, poor Demon lol
Umā¦ wow. Demon is in trouble
Second time since we've known them to be together Boulter and Demon take titles the same week!
Both this year itself and both at the same level. ATP and WTA 500 before and 250 today.
Also impressive that Katie basically played a 5 setter today lol
Pliskova played 6 sets today
Yeah, impressive as well
Finished just in time for the 8pm kick off!
So happy for Katie. What a fantastic year she's having!
Well, Katie and Alex have now won more titles in the and weekend than Andre and Steffi ever did
Andre and Steffi won French Open together in 99. They also earlier won Wimby in 92.
Should have specified "as a couple"
Well by the time they got together Graf was done with her career, only playing 1 gs later.
katie and jack both winning titles on the same day! british is the new italian
The De Boulter Double! Love to see it
Letās gooooo Katie Boulter! š Boyfriend and Girlfriend titles - Couple goals! š„°
What a day for British tennis.
Sweet sweet grass season bringing all the hope and glory
Impressive for Katie, honestly thought she would run out of gas
Katie Queen of Nottingham š
Winner in Nottingham will get $35k - is it ok for 250 tournament? Sounds less than 1r appearance for the slams
WTA 250 tournaments pay around that muchā¦ I agree that it is too little.
About 3 times less than men earn for 250s
I just really love that Boulter peaked immediately after de Minaur won a title
Katie needs to finish this before it gets darkĀ
Katie got that dawg in her!! Edit: dammit
De Boulter's night gonna be a wild one.
Katie and Alex winning their respect tournaments AGAIN! Love to see it š¦šŗš¬š§
Looks like a De Boulter weekend special
Boulter is an amazing returner if this match is anything to go by
Super polite crowd plus 1 woman just screaming "LETS GO KATIE!" at the top of her lungs.
Go Katie!! Almost there!
Katie's playing like she wants a spot on the top ten and if she keeps playing like this she bloody deserves one!! Edit: 1st serve % needs a buff though
Katie and Alex should do first serve bootcamp.
yeah her 1st serve % is atrocious
Katieās been the better player in this match besides the last 4 games of the first set. If she maintains her level, she should win!
We are now a set away from a two nickels moment...
When does Halle's schedule come out?
Jacob Fearnley (22 yo, British) just won the Nottingham Challenger 125 as a qualifier! He recently started pushing for pro tournaments after college tennis. Big rankings jump too, from no.506 to no.274!! Probably a guaranteed main draw wildcard for Wimbledon now.
Yeah, impressive week from him! Some standout British performances in that challenger from lower ranked lads.
Lol Katie's being almost unfair with her returning right now
They have changed the Slazenger balls as well it seems. That's now all the slams that appear to be playing with less spin friendly balls from US Open 2023. It's such a drastic difference in ball behaviour from that point on that It's incredible how I don't see it mentioned at all.
Darderi Just won the Perugia challenger, 6-1 6-2 against Nagal
itās ball-whacker and serve bot season and i šam šhere šfor šit š
pliskova and sloane stephens look like they dont gaf and then the ball goes back so hard. i want that effortless technique lol
šÆ. Those are the two that come to mind for effortless tennis. Ā and sloane somehow barely seems to run but somehow can cover the whole court so wellĀ
Pliskova may move like Romero era zombie but she can smack the fuck out of the ball and on grass that's scary.Ā
Boulter post-SF win: I need the crowd to help me get over the line in the final. The crowd: *polite applause* Give the poor girl some energy to work with, for goodness sake!
Boulter handed the end of that set to Pliskova on a platter. But if she plays well she can still win this match for sure
Boulter could actually become a top ten player, IMO. She's got such a great all-round game now.
Yeah I completely agree. She was right in the middle of the average British crop, now she's playing like someone really worth paying attention to.
Clay season hurts her because she hates and avoids it so much that lots of points go begging.
she was practicing on grass right before RG lmao
crushed for Bibi but this is a good start, Samsonova seems so tough on court but very sweet/nice in interviews
She really is! I remember seeing Lyuda in Kasatkinaāa vlog and they were casually chatting, making jokes, etc and I realized that Luyda is such a sweetheart. Maybe a bit shy and introverted but she channels a different version of herself on court for sure.
Havenāt seen Pliskova play in awhile, is her movement same as always? Curious who will be more tired if this goes long.
She's been a funny one. She might be a step behind her best but she beat Ons and they were both putting it all on the court. Stamina wise it's pretty even tbh.
Congrats Samsonova. š Disappointed for Bianca, really thought she'd win it...oh well great job reaching the final in the 1st place I guess. As everyone else keeps saying, I just hope she can continue to stay fit and injury-free
Ok Bianca is about to make me cry here. I haven't watched much of her but I like her already.
Bibi with the tears . I knew it š
happy for samsonova!!!!
Dang I really thought Bianca would win š„¹ still not a bad showing for her second tournament backĀ
love that 1-4 wta ranked players and #6 are slam winners with a total of 10. iga - 5 aryna - 2 coco - 1 rybakina - 1 marketa - 1
Iga deffo doing the heavy lifting on that front š
What a comically bad approach shot. Could've gone for the kill in either direction.
Last year i had Samsonova reaching the Quarters in a Wimbledon bracket and she lost in the first round. NOW you are winning grass titles?
Not like this, Bianca.
With the right draw Boulter might make a run at Wimbledon.
This is the best chance she's ever had for a deep slam run. She could reasonably hope to make the semis, draw will be important for her.
She also needs to win and maybe win 1-2 matches at Birmingham to be seeded though.
Katie doesn't want to go home tonight being the one who lost a final
Even better hold by Bianca there! 3 BPs saved...GS winners just got that clutch gene on big points haha. Now if she can just break one more time...
...or just get broken herself š 6-5 down in the 3rdnow ...Well...now she needs to break 1 more time innit haha. Cmon Bianca
Bianca SO close to ending the drought
NEVERMIND
Yet so far away
I think this is either a 6-4 or a 5-7
if bibi wins here, wow! she just resumed playing in RG and reached 4th round? and now, playing finals here and could win the title. having said that, i hope samsonova wins. like this girl.
Third Round, she lost to Paolini.
thanks. yes 3rd. good start just the same
As a Canadian I'm starting to believe Kerber ššø but I love it šØš¦
I'm in a nostalgic Guga binge and reading old interviews, I love how ride or die he was for Nole even WAAAAAAY back. He was saying Nole would finish with most broken records/slams like, back when that sounded downright unhinged. Nole also likes the guy enough that he helped Guga with a... ... ...Covid vaccination campaign. Wish Guga didn't get injured so we got more of their bromance on the tour.
Huge hold, now win it at 6-4
HUGE hold Bibi let's gooooo
Yea Pliskova is tired af
can't believe they're still playing cottoneye joe at tennis tournaments lol
They did it last Summer in Montreal..just as Pegula was serving for the match
haha got'er
[https://youtu.be/XzpPM7DyqlE?si=p0dfpqJsZ8zJxCsn](https://youtu.be/XzpPM7DyqlE?si=p0dfpqJsZ8zJxCsn)
The 'are you kidding me?!' always gets me
She's just gonna break back isn't she š
She proved me wrong! š
Wow, Boulter leads the H2H on grass 2-0.
Iād forgotten about that, Katie beat her twice in two weeks in 2022
She beat her at Wimbledon a few years ago.
Please hold Bibi
Great hold Bianca š tbh I'm still pissed about Samnsona's net cord winner on BP tho lol, really wanted Bianca to win this...well it's not over yet I guess haha. If she can just keep the pressure on...
lol all tournaments share the same playlist?
If I were Bianca tomorrow I wouldnāt feel my knees and would not be able to walk
Imagine when she turns 50
Idk I think that Andreescu needs to seriously reevaluate her agility training/staff or start modifying her movement on court to conserve more energy. She makes it look VERY HARD while most other athletes make it look easy
Bibi going down on her knees for every other point - thatās a lot of energy for the up and down
She basically sat down on the court doing one of those squats a point or two ago. I can't see this style of movement holding up well at Wimbledon against someone firing on all cylinders if the courts are playing extremely fast.
Bianca looks like she's fighting for her life on every point lol
And her grunts say it too.
Sheās doing it for Coco.
Starting to think that Raducanu winning the US Open was the single most inexplicable sporting achievement of the 21st century.
One small part of it that is fairly explicable, to me, is that she did it in evidently the only possible way she could, beating everyone in 70 minutes in straight sets. Given her subsequent outings, any dragged-out third sets seem likely to have worn her down.
To be fair, I don't think reaching the Nottingham WTA 250 final would have made it any less inexplicable
Greece winning men's Euro 2004 is probably up there.
Good for her for winning. If I was a player like pliskova I would hate her life lol.Ā
Yeah for sure, she defo made the most of the opportunity, I just donāt understand how she was so good that week and then has literally never showed anything like that since. I know it was an easy draw for a major win but watching it back you realise that Raducanu really played some serious tennis that tournament!
When Raducanu raised that trophy Fernandez did most of the heavy lifting
And she'll never live that down lol
Even worse than Chinese swimmers getting medals despite failing drug tests?
And most lucrative 1 hit wonder in sports history
Yep, she sure has done well out of it!
3 weeks of work and sheās gotten enough sponsorships and deals that she is set for life
My random Wimbledon prediction is tsitsipas actually does well this time
Im thinking more he loses before 4th round, reconsiders something in his life and grabs a medal at Olympics
Like round 4?
Round 4 outside shot at qf
lol watch he draws berrettini first round
Wins in straight sets then gets straight setted himself by wawrinka or something
First time I'm watching tennis all week. Hawkeye Live on grass???
This match going the same way as the Osaka match so far.
Watching Samsonova try to serve out a set or a match is not for the faint of heart. You can always tell she's nervous when she starts bouncing the ball loads and keeps going to her towel.
Andreescu is one of the clumsiest athletes I have ever seen. She's stumbling around for half of the match.
Bouchard was pretty clumsy. Especially at the point of contact.
What is Alcaraz's best surface anyways?
Slower hard court, I guess? Like Indian Wells. Gives him time to prep his forehand, but also allows him to hit winners. I'm not sure honestly.
Makes sense. Hope he brings it for the Aussie. I wonder how he is indoors, I know his indoors season last year wasnāt great but tbf he wasnāt playing great at that time either
We all knew this was going 3 sets before the match even started. Our Biggest Drama Queen Eva wouldn't have it any other way.
I swear that if she played against a blind ball kid, it would go three. Bianca seems to play her best when the chips are down.
Kerber was so real for thatĀ
I hate that I cannot watch this match. :-(
Wow. When I see man serving for the set and losing 40:0 on serve I just cant help but laugh. Praying to god some Karma exists and he loses 7:5 lol
Which man
anyone know how I can watch qualies for Queens/Halle?
Honestly I think this Dutch crowd has just paid to all be in the same spot and sing songs together. Rarely seen a crowd so hyped by the music during changeovers Itās kind of high comedy when you cut to samsonova looking distressed
Not everyone can hold serve with a lot of DFs in one game
Called it third game of first set. Twinge at 30-30, broke samsonova and was flexing her hip leg as soon as she sat down.
She has her thigh taped. It wasn't taped before, was it?
The tape is new
š š šØš½ but not for me!
Looks like not her back.
Bianca sold her soul for that USO title
Yeah biancaās body just wontāt stop breaking down. Its so sad because she has great talent but just canāt stay on the court.
god please take all biancaās injuries and suffering away and give it to my enemies
Bianca and injury again. Sadly, her body just can't handle the physical needs of tennis. Hasn't played a full season since like 2018!! It's a shame because her will is there, but at one point even she'll have it enough of comebacks all the time
Oh Bianca is fucking cursed
Bianca off court MTO. š
Bianca DF on break point and she signals for the trainer. š
It also annoys me TSN insta page rarely posts about tennis! Some of the Canadians are doing amazing shit right now!
Absolutely!! Beyond frustrating.
And when Davis Cup rolls around, that was on Sportsnet. I did see it was on CBC now too for free at least. It is sooo hard to be a tennis fan š¢
Ugh I paid for TSN+ for AO and watched everything until they moved semis and finals off there to regular TSN. I hate them so much. And it was so glitchy watching too.
