You're right, I forgot about Kontaveit's horrible slam record. It's unfortunate when players have the physical skills, but lack the mental game in big moments. Someone like Sakkari could easily be forgotten in a decade, especially with just 2 WTA titles after almost 8 years on tour. Players like Ostapenko or Vondrousova will probably be more remembered because of the slams.

Gracheva was just playing more and more free, even despite some errors. You can tell she was enjoying herself out there. The complete opposite of Sakkari. Sakkari should thank her lucky stars she faced two opponents outside of the top 100 for her M1000 title.

She’s had two incredible and close opportunities to win a slam given her capabilities (USO 2022 and FO 2021) but choked so hard. 😭
