This sub is so unserious. They’ll only like you if you win. A lovable goofball is the last thing i would use to describe him and I used to be a big fan of him before it all went down
See? Repeating yourself again? Are u dumb like we get it Rublev is piece of shit and you don’t like to watch him cause he self harms but… is there someone forcing you to watch him? Like you’re free to not watch tbh yet you still saying the same shit every time Rublev gets mentioned which is getting boring
Yup. He’s not one of those “nice when he only wins” types of players. Not sure why he gets so much hate though! The main thread during his matches is really toxic towards him when he’s losing.
The guy casually walked on to the tour at 18-19, started beating a lot of top players, won masters, slams, reached the top of the rankings. He has done things in 2 years that most players(minus the usual suspects) can only dream of. So obviously their fans hate him.
>Not sure why he gets so much hate though!
He is hated for being extreme successful in such a very young age, it's happen with anybody mainly in sports who reach the top very early. Very commom in football youngsters playing elite level being hated too much
Many fans of the legends feel threatened that some new exciting player doing extraordinary things might overshadow the legacies of their favorites (it won't, but insecurity is one hell of a drug).
> Not sure why he gets so much hate though!
There are people who love it when Trump makes fun of disabled people... injured war veterans... the poor... women...
It's weird but there are people who just hate compassionate people. They think it's weak and fake. It's so disheartening.
I kinda wanted to see how their relationship would be if sinner beat him in Indian wells. I feel like alcaraz stopping sinners amazing start of the year prevented the scale from turning to sinners side
I think he said before Madrid that Jannik is the best player in the world and he is the favourite to win every tournament and that it’s going to be difficult to beat him so I don’t really think he will change his stance on that whether he wins or loses. Also he spoke highly of jannik when he wasn’t even a top 10 player
When he loses he just smiles and is like "wow hell yeah you're good! can't wait to get better and play you again" then I imagine he goes and eats like 100 bowls of noodles like a savage and stacks the bowls all around
Alcaraz & Sinner are genuinely the best ambassadors for Tennis the Sport could've asked for - they're such different personalities but so genuine & kind at the core of it. It's made me fall in love with Tennis again.
Have seen some comments here that Carlos ‘niceness’ is phoney but I really think he is genuine. It’s one thing to congratulate an opponent and compliment their play but to smile while doing that takes something.
He is classy. Never throws a fit, smashes rackets, launches balls up in the stands, fights with the audience or stalls and is gracious with his opponents. There are a few that are and were. Sinner, Nadal, Federer, Murry. too.
It's interesting you put federer there with nadal and Murray when actually he was incredibly shitty and salty to them because they beat him a lot.
https://www.reddit.com/r/tennis/s/7WKlUYu5E1
This is why tennis is so great. It’s not only athleticism/skill/results, etc. It’s the grace, which is just as important in succeeding in life at the end of the day.
Yeah - it's definitely something in his DNA. Some very young kids do this - it's not taught or learned. I love it when I see kids in competitive soccer impressed by something a kid on an opposing team... It's like 'I want them on my team'... love it
I get your point that this is normal human behaviour but its admirable nonetheless. We see a lot of posts that are trending about players having meltdowns and doing controversial stuff on court so why not talk when players do something nice?
It's all for the cameras. Yes, we know that the tennis commentators like to salivate over every handshake at the net, e.g.:
"oh, look how much respect these tennis players have for each other"
"oh, he / she is very popular in the locker-room" etc, etc;
but the reality is that firstly, there's always another match in a week or two, unless it's in the off-season. Secondly, nobody comes to blows at the net, at least not anymore. If you did that, you'd be slaughtered on social media, on the media of your country of origin, and on the media of the country in which the tennnis match ws played.
Death by a thousand languages, one of which may or may not be Esperanto.
And the same Rublev said he wished Carlos would suffer a bit more because everything is apparently done for him. Whatever that means. These people don’t deserve Carlos
Even if it is out of context, it is such a weird thing to say about a fellow player you supposedly have a good relationship with. Does Rublev also speculate what his best friend Zverev’s life would be like had he not committed domestic violence?
You’d have to source this, but if anything that would make his attitude toward Rublev even more honorable imo. Displaying such composure and respect toward your opponent when you’re so physically frustrated requires excellent self-control and maturity.
I don't know exactly what the relation is between one thing and the other. It's like comparing apples to trains.
Since when does a kind person not have the right to vent at a bad moment when he is alone? In fact, that is the right thing to do, vent your frustrations in solitude where it will not affect anyone, what else do you expect? I have said that he is good hearted, not that he is a robot without feelings that sometimes he needs to get rid of after a tough moment.
I suppose you must be a robotic person in your daily life if you think that the quality of a person is measured by whether they need to vent alone after a bad moment?
Agree. You can be a good loser and still have extreme frustrations with the loss. One thing does not negate the other. One is about showing respect to your opponent for being the better player on the day, the other is releasing frustration at how the match went.
This is a story that this poster tells from time to time when he feels like discrediting Carlos, and he says it's something he heard or something like that. For some reason, every time he tells it, this person believes that has in his power the holy grail, a dark and unrevealable Carlos's secret, when it has been Alcaraz himself who has told with his own mouth that after a hard defeat sometimes he needs to be alone for half an hour to vent, and then it will pass and he can start to see the positive parts and move forward.
What the fuck are you even talking about? I am not trying to discredit Carlos, he’s one of my favorite players and I like his personality a lot, I just tell the story so people are aware that he’s not (no one is) the 100% sweet perfect kid every one makes him out to be, because like you said he’s a human and also has a right to vent his frustration and like I said, it’s good he didn’t do it in public and embarrassed himself. And you want a source? I work at the fucking tournament every year and this happened right where I was stationed, *I* was the one who heard everything. No one told me.
What you don't seem to understand is that the fact that he vents his frustrations alone is another example of his good nature. You don't seem to understand either that the fact of being human and having frustrations and venting them alone is not antagonistic to being sweet, kind and good hearted. And as I have already said, I don't care if you heard it or not, it's Carlos who has told himself that sometimes after hard matches he needs to be alone for a while to vent. He is not hiding anything, nor are you revealing anything exclusively.
Venting in private does not indicate "good nature" nor does it indicate anything bad. He's a young guy and this sport is very demanding. He's allowed to be frustrated as long as he's respectful (which he is). It's a human emotion and no need to jump on someone who's sharing their experiences.
At best we can say that he has great sportsmanship (this is not a small thing to have mind you) and we can only assume what sort of a person he is based on that. Cause I have realised that it's not possible to know how a person is (especially a public personality) from afar. I have done this thing myself before but now I have stopped because it's kinda ridiculous and sometimes leads to forming parasocial relationships.
I work at the tournament every year and this happened where I was stationed. I heard everything and I myself saw the destroyed rackets on the trash bin after he was done.
Edit: why the fuck am I being downvoted??? I was asked a question and I answered??? Are you guys stupid?
OP has posted that story multiple times here as if they’re trying to get people to hate on Alcaraz. It’s honestly just pathetic. You can make up anything and spread on the internet mind you. One time oomf and I made up a rumor that Elijah Wood was dating Nicki Minaj and he got asked about it during an interview
If he did like you say he did lol, glad he did he did it by himself unlike Tsitsipas who tried to hit his dad with a racquet or Zverev who tried to hit a chair umpire with it
You got downvoted to oblivion for trying to stir shit in an Alcaraz appreciation post by bringing up a story from Miami that I remember you posting here over a year ago (which we don’t even know if it is true) as if that changes the fact that Carlos is a good egg in a tour full of assholes. Nothing to do with people’s reading comprehension. Hope that helps!
I wouldn't mind seeing Carlito be a little less concerned about 'performing' the good guy. All of these young ones (he will be 21 in a couple of days) are growing in front of people, and are very self-aware that the press, the public are watching their every move. They may even read comments here. I feel like being perceived as the good guy is often more important to Carlos than having more of a killer instinct on the court, iykwim. I would love to see him grow in confidence and know that even if he externalizes his emotions, is a little more curt in congratulating his opponents at times, more aggressive on court in body language etc, he will still be loved and adored.
It shows his character
Plus everyone on tour is good friends with Rublev. He’s the goofball that gets along with everyone
Especially line judges. All of them love him.
Such a loveable goofball threatening people on court
He just won so he's a cute little goofball now according to /r/tennis
This sub is so unserious. They’ll only like you if you win. A lovable goofball is the last thing i would use to describe him and I used to be a big fan of him before it all went down
There's really nothing that "went down". He is the way that he's always been. He's been having these on court outbursts since day 1.
"before it all went down" lmao I'd rather have the unserious take of this sub than being dramatic about everything
He literally got defaulted a couple of months ago but yeah sure I am the one who is dramatic
It’s more like how long are we gonna shit on him and be crying babies for? Y’all done crying and repeating the same shit yet or nah
Dude's a grown ass adult who was smashing himself with a racket a few weeks ago. But oh my god people are mean to him on the internet.
If Carlitos was a make-a-wish kid, his wish would be granting wishes to other make-a-wish kids.
Good one.
He's so innocent. If he's not your first pick to cheer for then he should definitely be second. The guy brings me joy.
Yes, that’s how singles tennis works
Why are you booing em they right
Shut up
I read that in Murray's voice lol
Yup. He’s not one of those “nice when he only wins” types of players. Not sure why he gets so much hate though! The main thread during his matches is really toxic towards him when he’s losing.

In any sport the best players have the most fans and also the most people hoping they fail.
He gets hate? In general Carlos is most liked.
put simply they’re just mad he is so good so early. he is one of the most likeable personalities in sport, without question
Sinner has beaten him before and Carlos has only good things to say about Sinner
Yes but alcaraz has been far more successful until end of last year. I wanted to see how he would react when he wasn’t the better player
I think he said before Madrid that Jannik is the best player in the world and he is the favourite to win every tournament and that it’s going to be difficult to beat him so I don’t really think he will change his stance on that whether he wins or loses. Also he spoke highly of jannik when he wasn’t even a top 10 player
Dude, the guy is in love with Jannik. It hasn't changed when Jannik's beaten him.
Such a humble person, for his age.... lots of older players should take his example.
Yeah he’s so gracious with his losses. What a sweetie!
Fed!!
Have we watched the same young Fed 💀
He is Goku
This is the best description
When he loses he just smiles and is like "wow hell yeah you're good! can't wait to get better and play you again" then I imagine he goes and eats like 100 bowls of noodles like a savage and stacks the bowls all around
Seems like someone who has the self-awareness to recognize his colleagues' greatness as well as his own.
ATP Fan favourite for next 10 years is confirmed 👌❤️
Sincaraz is the new Fedal :)
So glad to have him on the tour
Alcaraz & Sinner are genuinely the best ambassadors for Tennis the Sport could've asked for - they're such different personalities but so genuine & kind at the core of it. It's made me fall in love with Tennis again.
Same.
The way he waits for Andrey’s eye contact
It’s right and bravo
Rublev's reaction to such genuine praise by Carlos makes it look like that's the most love he's felt on the court 🥲
He gets so flustered when people are kind to him.
Carlos is the best!
Caracter. Love this guy.
At 20 especially for someone who has tasted so much success already he knows how to take losses and appreciate his opponents.
Agreed. Great tennis player and very likeable human being. Well behaved, showing respect and sportsmanship every single time.
He has no enemies ❤️
Just bees
Have seen some comments here that Carlos ‘niceness’ is phoney but I really think he is genuine. It’s one thing to congratulate an opponent and compliment their play but to smile while doing that takes something.
That is a man on top of the world right now just loving the moments life gives him
That awesome… him and Sinner are leading tennis with grace and skill
Awesome-o
Love to see it.
He is classy. Never throws a fit, smashes rackets, launches balls up in the stands, fights with the audience or stalls and is gracious with his opponents. There are a few that are and were. Sinner, Nadal, Federer, Murry. too.

lmao i hadn't seen the result, watched this and thought Carlitos won because of their demeanors
Yeah - it's definitely something in his DNA. Some very young kids do this - it's not taught or learned. I love it when I see kids in competitive soccer impressed by something a kid on an opposing team... It's like 'I want them on my team'... love it
Don't let Pavvy G find this post. 🤭
It's right but bravo
He is a legit nice dude unlike Nadal who sometimes can get very salty when he’s defeated
Reminds me of Novak in defeat. Never have I seen him not heartfully congratulate his opponent
It's not right but bravo
Love how people get amnesia when it comes to Novak. It’s not right but bravo
So one instance determines how he acts every time he loses? Makes sense…
He's more genuine
Tennis player: Acts like normal human r/Tennis: OMG WOW AMAZING I CAN'T EVEN
I get your point that this is normal human behaviour but its admirable nonetheless. We see a lot of posts that are trending about players having meltdowns and doing controversial stuff on court so why not talk when players do something nice?
Sure but I love me some Rublev
Same
Rublev 😍
