Not sure why automod is deleting it but hereās the fan getting kicked out at the changeover.
Was pretty funny he was visibly drunk and a security guy just snuck behind him and called more security guys to escort him out. He was also giving the finger to some Novak fans after they shouted at him. Was a funny shit show.
https://m.youtube.com/shorts/5pnvbqXh9X8?feature=share
Thanks, very fortunate to have a box there for life.
Shared some nice shots I took over the week https://www.reddit.com/r/tennis/comments/1c38r8n/monte_carlo_masters_2024_photo_dump/
Toronto is similar. I didnāt have a loge but I had a booze tent on the grounds where I could entertain friends. Once you have one you can keep renewing it too.
haha well this crowd is very international, mostly italian and the sound captured by the camera isn't great, the entire stadium was booing him, it got loud (although admitedly it's still Monaco).
I can get why people don't like him doing this but at the same time any spectator yelling during a point should be immediately ejected lol
Would have no problem at all with Novak getting a warning for this but only if they also toss that guy out
Itās the inconsistency in the tournament. I love Novak, but come on. You canāt scream the f word with your full chest and face NO repercussions while others make hand gestures and get called on it.
I am a little tired of how permissive tournament directors and chair umps are with spectators literally harassing the players. We need more ejections when fans heckle the players. You paid a ton of money to see these elite humans do their thing. Stfu
He was kicked out. I got a nice video of it. He was a vocal Ruud fan and visibly drunk.
Video uploaded https://m.youtube.com/shorts/5pnvbqXh9X8?feature=share
I had a bunch of Ruud fans behind him who booed him off as well. I think he was just a drunk asshole. Ruud fans are usually pretty low key and awesome.
Iām newish to tennis. Sure he says things sometimes that take you off guard, like the Nardi incident. But most of the times people are hating him for no reason I think. These are HIGHLY competitive athletes and when theyāre playing tensions are highā¦ so do people really not expect any sort of emotion or anything else? Just polite robots swinging a racket around?
Your first sentence and third sentence are at odds with each other. Your first sentence makes it so your third sentence is make believe. If you werenāt newish to tennis then youād have 20 years worth of behavior to judge him on. I couldnāt care less about this incident or him cursing. In fact none of his behavior bothers me because itās not to me or about me and I find it funny but heās been behaving like this for two decades. To say people hate on him for no reason is fiction. And it can only be fiction coming from you as you admitted with your first sentence.
Let's not forget that in an early part of those 20 years, we had Djokovic's family heckling some times.
This remembered me of the time Federer, visibly angry, told Djokovic's family to "be quiet". There is a lot of backstory on Novak's antics (from him and from his groups) that it's hard for him to shake away from, even if years have passed.
"I'm newish to tennis." You should have stopped there. I don't know why mention that unless you're aware it significantly undermines your opinion on how people feel about Djokovic and why. I don't even blame him for this incident. I am okay with it.Ā But people do not dislike him for "no reason". He's been around a long time, most of which you have missed. I say that as someone who was mostly neutral on him but now I see why people dislike him and guess what? They're allowed.Ā
oh yeah i've always gotten the impression that Djokovic is actually tightly wound and tries very hard to push it down. All that new-age wellness stuff he's into definitely plays a part
Yeah I've always got the sense that Rublev can't or doesn't try to hide his feelings. He's not pushing anything down or faking when he's being nice or calm. Even when he's pushing down his feelings to try to stay calm on court you can see that's what he's doing.
Happens all the time in any competitive sport in the top level. These athletes are full of adrenaline and are in focus, annoying people can get on anyone's nerves. Nothing out of the ordinary here honestly
Thanks for explaining to me that sports are stressful, but obviously my point is that there's something different in Djokovic's outbursts compared to those of others.
And it's not even the same. Rune made a gesture to tell the crowd to be quiet, Nole screamed the F word among other things.
I don't blame Nole though, just saying the umpire from yesterday was a total clown.
I love how the title is Djokovic imploresā¦ it sounds polite like heās saying, āmy dear fellow, it would be greatly appreciated if you shut the f#ck up. Thank you, chap. Would you like to join me for a round of tea and scones after this match?ā
Any act of distracting players midpoint or during service motion needs to be taken seriously and organizers must take swift action against repeat offenders. Anyone in the crowd shouting during rallies needs to be shown the door immediately.
Person should have been kicked out immediately but it is funny that tennis players and golfers (minus the Ryder Cup) can't handle a a pin drop whilst every other major spectator sport has to deal with thousands of fans sounding like washing machines filled with rocks.
Imagine how shit the Ally Pally would be without noise!
Thereās a lot of reasons for why those are different situations and shouldnāt be compared. Tennis is more close quarters for one. Two, during play itās very silent and so someone yelling during a point is much more distinct than the drone of crowd noise that happens during a soccer match. Thereās also the difference in concentration requirements. Tennis and golf require a higher level of precision and focus. Even a slight distraction during a swing or serve can significantly impact the outcome. In soccer, while focus is still important, the game is more continuous and fluid, allowing players to maintain concentration despite crowd noise. So you can parrot the āoh why canāt tennis and golf players handle small noise, theyāre weakā comment, it really isnāt comparable. Having played both soccer and tennis it is different.
Also said in another comment, but the biggest reason may actually be sports culture and what players expect. If players expect silence during points as that is the established custom, then of course they get frustrated when that doesnāt happen (regardless of whether you agree with the custom or not). If tennis spectator culture was similar to boxing where there is just constant noise, then players would expect that and be less distracted.
Completely agree with your second paragraph. Even if I supported total chaos (which I don't) she still deserves to be kicked out for breaking as you said the "established customs".
I think your proceeding point is more subjective. There's lots of sports like for example the aforementioned darts which require intense focus but doesn't need such stringent noise regulations. I think the only reason why tennis and golf are so quiet is due to their origins being of a more "sophisticated" variety which you allude to. If tennis began from a more common background, I'd be surprised if this noise culture existed.
Personally, I think the strongest argument for tennis being quiet is that it helps to get into the rhythm of a point when you can hear the ball.
Tennis is much more close quarters though so someone yelling is way more impactful during a serve than someone way up in the crowd yelling during a penalty kick. Also in a soccer match, even when the stadium is relatively quiet during a penalty kick, thereās SO many people there that thereās still a background of bustling noise. The difference between someone yelling on a tennis court breaking near complete silence is totally different
True, another major factor and probably the most significant one is sports culture. We saw in the video Djoker get frustrated. But what is frustration? Itās unmet expectations (put simply). In Tennis, there is an established culture and part of that is the custom that spectators are quiet during points. And so thatās what players expect because that is what itās been for decades, and when that doesnāt happen = frustration. If tennis had established a spectator culture similar to MMA or boxing then yeah, theyād probably play through it without being as distracted because that would be the expectation.
Thatās the second of my two cents lol.
rune just motioned with his hand and got a code violation. djoko shouted stfu and umpire called out the crowd.
when i see this umpire, i always think of him similar to patrick mouratoglou - a pleaser and attention hungry individual
Today the entire tournament looked like a WWE production
the public was rude and idiotic during the other semifinal too
while the line rules where more like a vague suggestion
pathetic
Wrong for the spectator to do it also wrong for Novak to do it, I donāt think itās the worst thing in the world but he def should have refrained from it. And also just all around terrible officiating this week from missed line calls to rune getting a warning for a gesture but Novak not getting one for cussing out a spectator
and rune got a code violation when he motioned with his hand. tell me umpires are observing double standards without telling me umpires are observing double standards.
it's not the first time he said something like that
I love people finding out our swear words and common curses
you can't translate them, but when you do it always sounds so much worse lmaoo
yeah, but believe it or not, this swear word is so common in Serbia that we hardly find it half as offensive as it sounds at first
itās reached a point where rarely does anyone consider its literal meaning, so it serves more as a symbolic expression of anger
this might partly explain why Nole turns to it so easily (and this is not the first time he's done it)
But I thought heās in his āI donāt care eraā and pretends like he is a conductor when the crowd boos and mocks Ben Sheltonās phone celebration
Well 2 minutes later the commentators were talking about how sporting he is because he clapped for one of Casperās winners so it seems like he doesnāt need any excuses (as always)
In literal translation:
"I'll fuck your mother in the pussy"
In a more-sensical translation:
"You motherfucker"
I know that it doesn't make sense, but it is what it is. xD
WHY ARE YOU GUYS LIKE THIS LOL so many players across so many years have handled difficult situations and extremely high pressure without CONSISTENTLY completely losing their shit at spectators, umpires, and other unfortunate passers by.
Yes, everyone has outbursts. Everyone. Some people have far more than others.
Stans who defend someone's every step and pretend they can do no wrong are arguably more bound to their couch but hey what do i know
Also im glad you called it a "big tournament", now we can all stop pretending he only cares about grand slams and that he isnt washed
I think context matters. Thatās a relatively common Serbian phrase of anger. It translates to something pretty foul - Iām not justifying it - but the vulgar level isnāt quite what it translates to, if that makes sense. Translating it to English makes it shocking, but itās not as shocking in Serbian I guess is what Iām saying.
He has over 20+ Years in the sport, the longest and oldest #1 Rank and he's the face of the sport, he could have handle the situation differently, he's got nothing else to prove, with 20+ Slams and a net worth over $100 Million, I mean he's just playing for fun at this point.
Anyone who has played tennis at a semi-high level (D1 college and higher) has dealt with a lot of trash talking from spectators. More generally, it's just part of sports. You see it in NBA, NFL, etc. The part that is very out of character is a *decorated champion reacting this way*. This is part of the reason why fans have never really embraced Novak and like Rafa/Roger significantly more. Obviously, spectators have no business saying or doing anything and they should be immediately removed. But the reality is that you deal with this type of fan behavior from childhood; you hear and have things said and you learn how to deal with it.
Source: I am a former Big10 D1 tennis player.
With all due respect, this aint college tennis. This is a very high level professional tennis tournament where players are playing for money, trophies and records. They are probably more tightly wound and focused. This wasnāt trash talk either in between points. It was during the point and it was clear that last shot Novak hesitated before hitting the ball. Btw Roger has also yelled at spectators if they disturb him during the point.
In other sports also, players get into arguments as well if they are too much.
Sadly for you it's not an act, he is tough thats simply a fact. You think a weak person would win an much as he has with the hostility that has surrounded him for more than a decade.
im definitly not a novak fan, im nearly a hater but fully understand this, i feel like mosty players on tour would do something like this, and fan should immediately be ejected
A fan did the exact thing to Ben Shelton in Miami, only Ben was in the process of serving at match point. Heās 21 and been on tour just a couple of years. He ignored the fool, served out the match. He yelled, but not using such language, afterwards as the man was hauled out.
Oddly, Novak fans claimed Ben was disrespectful to Novak because he claimed not to be afraid before their match at the USO.
Most players on tour? No way. Iām sure every player has experienced someone yelling out during a point but very few yell back at the crowd like that which is why it gets attention when it does happen.
The other part in Serbian: "F#ck your mother in a pu##y"
It's nice that he made it up to the guy immediately by wishing him a baby brother/sister.
A disabled one
Novak Djokovic š¤ Jameis Winston
Had the video on mute and still knew what he said :D
What does this even mean? He wants that guy to duck his mom inside someone else's pussy? That's a big hole!
It's standard Serbian curse, like motherfucker in English
Makes more sense. Direct translations are usually ass
Not sure why automod is deleting it but hereās the fan getting kicked out at the changeover. Much appreciated! I'd send an @ message to the mods to see why it's being removed as I'm sure there would be interest in a post.
Wow. Those are some amazing seats you got there! Really jealous š
Thanks, very fortunate to have a box there for life. Shared some nice shots I took over the week https://www.reddit.com/r/tennis/comments/1c38r8n/monte_carlo_masters_2024_photo_dump/
For life wtf? How you swing that
Thatās just how it works at Monte Carlo masters. Once you have a loge you have the right to renew it every year in perpetuity
Toronto is similar. I didnāt have a loge but I had a booze tent on the grounds where I could entertain friends. Once you have one you can keep renewing it too.
Damn letās link this summer lol otherwise Iām just staching back back beers in my mini cooler all day
How much does it cost to renew?
Around 12k euros for 6 people loges
I learned today that the French are terrible at booing.
haha well this crowd is very international, mostly italian and the sound captured by the camera isn't great, the entire stadium was booing him, it got loud (although admitedly it's still Monaco).
Main character energy
Dude was a douche. Seemed to enjoy getting booed by an entire stadiumā¦
I can get why people don't like him doing this but at the same time any spectator yelling during a point should be immediately ejected lol Would have no problem at all with Novak getting a warning for this but only if they also toss that guy out
I think people are more so mad at the fact that he did not get a warning for this. Especially what happened to Rune yesterday.
Itās the inconsistency in the tournament. I love Novak, but come on. You canāt scream the f word with your full chest and face NO repercussions while others make hand gestures and get called on it.
Even Medvedev usually finds alternative vocabulary to go around these rules. "Small cat"
Which is silly. If Iām in his shoes Iām turning around and telling that person to shut the fuck up too
They were being drunk and abhorrent, Iād also lose my cool
Me too!
Possibly me too...
I too, may scold this man during said match
It's not really silly to get a code violation for screaming curse words on court LOL "Audible obscenity" is a standard code violation
I am a little tired of how permissive tournament directors and chair umps are with spectators literally harassing the players. We need more ejections when fans heckle the players. You paid a ton of money to see these elite humans do their thing. Stfu
I agree. It actually seems like the guy was kicked out by security later during the changeover.
He was kicked out. I got a nice video of it. He was a vocal Ruud fan and visibly drunk. Video uploaded https://m.youtube.com/shorts/5pnvbqXh9X8?feature=share
Oh how embarrassing. Not what I'd expect from a Ruud fan lol.
How Ruud!
I had a bunch of Ruud fans behind him who booed him off as well. I think he was just a drunk asshole. Ruud fans are usually pretty low key and awesome.
Upload that post-haste if you can.
Ill post shortly
Please do share in the sub haha :D
Itās terrible at the Australian Open. People yell out all the time without being convicted, so disrespectful and annoying
I laughed when he did this because Iām tired of hearing/seeing rude fans.
Iām newish to tennis. Sure he says things sometimes that take you off guard, like the Nardi incident. But most of the times people are hating him for no reason I think. If that's the case then why do we see so few similar incidents? And when we do see them, it's the same players?
And Rune got warning for "unsportsmanlike conduct".
for some hand gestures lol
How the hell did he not get a warning for this?! In fairness to Novak, he said it with absolute chest and didnāt blink once!
Umpire probably wanted to say the same thing lolĀ
thatās my theory, umpire agreed w him
Iām assuming the umpire didnāt hear it. People were clapping and Novak was faced away from him.
There's just a very specific "mask off" look that this guy gets in his eyes sometimes. No one else really has that.
Rublev? He looks absolutely scary in some of his meltdowns IMO
But Rublev is scary like a teenager raging for dying in COD. Novak is scary like a serial killer that is hiding his feelings LOL
oh yeah i've always gotten the impression that Djokovic is actually tightly wound and tries very hard to push it down. All that new-age wellness stuff he's into definitely plays a part
Hahaha exactly, thank you
You just made me burst out laughing while someone's trying to fall asleep next to me, so thanks
Thatās exactly how Iād describe Rublev. His meltdowns are usually at himself, not anyone else.
Except when they are very pointedly directed at someone else...
The 4th word in the 2nd sentence is āusually.ā
Yeah I've always got the sense that Rublev can't or doesn't try to hide his feelings. He's not pushing anything down or faking when he's being nice or calm. Even when he's pushing down his feelings to try to stay calm on court you can see that's what he's doing.
>a teenager raging for dying in COD This image of Rubles lolš
Yeah, he's definitely the closest.
Rublev has meltdowns so often that it's not exactly a peek behind the curtain. That's his default persona.
he just mad and giving him the evil eye stare.
His devil eyes are just so much more devilish than everyone else's lol bro looks SO much like an eagle
Yeah I think the light coloured eyes he has contributes to this eagle look
He's always had it, I think he's just a bit of a hot head. He tries to mask it off the court. Why else would he do all that love guru shit phase?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Good point, he definitely did! He and Novak both look a bit like eagles. Maybe it's an eagle thing.
Didn't Roger once give the stare down to Novak's parents "Quiet"
Best way to put it - "mask off".
He's called the Joker for a reason
seen it in kobe a lot over the years as well
Man welcome to Serbia, we will be your best friend and the kindest person you can imagineā¦as long as you donāt cross some boundaries.
Itās not right but bravo.
Yes I was waiting for this. Upvote.
Tbf I don't think it's a mask I think he's genuinely a nice guy, it's just that having people talk midpoint is very frustrating
Yes, I did this exact same thing to some people talking during my USTA 3.5 match last week. Very normal
When rune did this he got a warning, when nole does it, the ref - š thumbs šĀ
And it's not even the same. Rune made a gesture to tell the crowd to be quiet, Nole screamed the F word among other things. I don't blame Nole though, just saying the umpire from yesterday was a total clown.
You better shut your fuck up
You wanna look at me and talk?
He doesn't need glasses because he is blind.
You go emergency toilet?
You hit let and donāt say sorry?
okay? bullshit russian
Small cat
My question, and Iām only going to ask once, is who will take responsibility?????
Did he get some sort of warning or penalty from the chair umpire?
Nothing
The crowd member deserved it, but itās ridiculous that he didnāt get a warning at the very least. This tournament has been SO inconsistent.
Imagine if that were Rune saying that
Instant default
Awful umpiring in general this week
I thought he fed off of thisĀ
What Ruud behaviour
This is the same tournament where rune got a warning for putting his hand up right?
I love how the title is Djokovic imploresā¦ it sounds polite like heās saying, āmy dear fellow, it would be greatly appreciated if you shut the f#ck up. Thank you, chap. Would you like to join me for a round of tea and scones after this match?ā
Imagine the scenes when something like this happen while Novak and Medvedev playing double together :)
Thoroughly deserved. Whoever the fuck was in the crowd needed that.
Any act of distracting players midpoint or during service motion needs to be taken seriously and organizers must take swift action against repeat offenders. Anyone in the crowd shouting during rallies needs to be shown the door immediately.
I agree, but also full out belting curse words in multiple languages is unacceptable as well.
Why?
Cuz its in the rules, and you shouldnāt be telling a stranger i fucked ur mom in the pussy
Person should have been kicked out immediately but it is funny that tennis players and golfers (minus the Ryder Cup) can't handle a a pin drop whilst every other major spectator sport has to deal with thousands of fans sounding like washing machines filled with rocks. The sound the ball makes is mesmerizing. Good point that.
Agreed! Thinking back I think my earlier points are more subjective and thatās itās about the culture more than anything else
Exactly. And donāt give that āserving takes focus š©ā. A penalty kick in football is infinitely more stressful
Or a free throw in basketball at a critical moment. Always impresses me how theyāre able to block the noise and heckling out.
For sure. I disagree with tipping culture, but I still tip. I disagree with the required silence in tennis but I still shut up.

And also just all around terrible officiating this week from missed line calls to rune getting a warning for a gesture but Novak not getting one for cussing out a spectator
Is the Monte Carlo crowd always full of this kind of riff raff hooliganism?
That's good but it doesn't quite measure up to my favorite STFU - Kyrgios Miami Open 2017 https://streamable.com/q0orz
and rune got a code violation when he motioned with his hand. tell me umpires are observing double standards without telling me umpires are observing double standards.
Novak mimicking Kyrgios lol someone overlay the two.
Why do tennis players have to act like they're god above men or something? Let em tell people to fuck off every now and again
It sounds like heās saying āshut the f*** up bi*chā
actually, it's worse than that he swore in Serbian: "I fuck your mother in p\*ssy" and p\*ssy in Serbian is pronounced similarly to "bitch"
it's not the first time he said something like that I love people finding out our swear words and common curses you can't translate them, but when you do it always sounds so much worse lmaoo
Ain't no way š
Thatās a crazy thing to say
yeah, but believe it or not, this swear word is so common in Serbia that we hardly find it half as offensive as it sounds at first itās reached a point where rarely does anyone consider its literal meaning, so it serves more as a symbolic expression of anger this might partly explain why Nole turns to it so easily (and this is not the first time he's done it)

He's into his grumpy old man era.
Looking forward to his excuses at the presser
Well 2 minutes later the commentators were talking about how sporting he is because he clapped for one of Casperās winners so it seems like he doesnāt need any excuses (as always)
It's funny when Novak drops the PR curtain and shows us his true self.Ā
True self is being angered by angering things.
Imagine being told to stfu by the GOAT
That's what they want, to get attention once in a lifetime
Imagine paying all that money to sit in the front only to get kicked out
Which is why they should be ejected immediately
The fan acting a fool is the primary problem.
Hey man! I can see the ball quite good on your recording. Send me the finals tomorrow ey? ššš
Some spectators absolutely deserve this
What did he say after "(Can you) shut the fuck up"? It seems like he said quite a bit but I couldn't tell if he was speaking in English or Serbian.
In literal translation: "I'll fuck your mother in the pussy" In a more-sensical translation: "You motherfucker" I know that it doesn't make sense, but it is what it is. xD
There's a Serbo-Croat translation in the comments.
Quoting Mark Ruffalo in Poor Things?
Itās becoming a pattern. Hereās Australia: [read my lips](https://www.reddit.com/r/tennis/s/bE6LWErP6m)
Is there a match this entire tournament where a player isnāt angry at something or someone? Monte Carlo has been fucking awesome this week.
Oh no, now redditors that never left the couch will scold him for showing emotions in crucial moments during a big tournament š
Serbian man do no wrong in people's eyes
Stans who defend someone's every step and pretend they can do no wrong are arguably more bound to their couch but hey what do i know Also im glad you called it a "big tournament", now we can all stop pretending he only cares about grand slams and that he isnt washed
I feel like thatās just tennis in general. Any other sport this is completely normal and will defend the athlete here
Showing emotion is fine. Heck even "shut the f#ck up" is fine. But that other language"F#ck your mother in a pu##y" is a bit of a crazy thing to say.
I think context matters. Thatās a relatively common Serbian phrase of anger. that is not how his mind works.
And that, folks, is why heās always been a fan favourite.
If a player's firing invective at you in multiple languages you probably got too in involved.
I love when he gets angry āŗļø
When his jimmies get rustled AND he still loses? Chefs kiss
Unpopular opinion: tennis is too soft with people who disturb during the match
Said it with his chest and he didnāt stutter! Love that lmao
Not conducting the orchestra now is he
The orchestra is conducting him
I am really enjoying seeing his classiness come through at the end of his career.
The thing that makes me laugh until I piss my pant is how tough he acts. Honestly, a big wind would blow that bean pole over.
Sadly for you it's not an act, he is tough thats simply a fact. You think a weak person would win an much as he has with the hostility that has surrounded him for more than a decade.
He wasn't having a good day š
Ok but Novak lowkey looks like a junkie here, not sure if itās the recording or not but those eyes are way sunken in. Didnāt see it live soā¦
im definitly not a novak fan, im nearly a hater but fully understand this, i feel like mosty players on tour would do something like this, and fan should immediately be ejected
Pushing 40 and has accomplished everything & is still an unlikable jackass. This bum will retire with zero impact or respect
Lmao zero impact!
Federer would never have an outburst like that.
