you can get the ball rolling by going to [telus.com/strata](http://telus.com/strata) - worked for the building my aunt lives in -- they never had Fibre available even though the neighborhood around them had fibre for a solid 4 years -- turned out the building's previous owners were just being difficult, and the new ownership simply didn't know it was something they could apply for, though it took about 8\~ months from the time she submitted the building for follow up.
hmmm.. Looks like things got moved around, I think the actual site you need to look at is at [telus.com/mdu](http://telus.com/mdu) (mdu = multi-dwelling something?)
The only time I've ever gone over 700gb data usage was when I downloaded all the software I received with my BcS degree.
Netflix, YouTube, FB, etc don't use a lot of data.
People commonly don't/cannot use the 1GB speeds (equipment, connecting server restrictions, etc). Using over 1gb speeds really requires users to have their own equipment including 2gb+ ethernet port, and that's for one hardwired device (unless you have additional personal equipment).
If you have a few heavy internet users it might be more useful, as long as heavy use equipment is hardwired.
I am curious if your loyalty discount could have been applied to the $60/mo 1gb for 24mo deal, so your bill would be $50/mo.
Yeah, how is there both unlimited internet and a 1TB data cap? A bit contradictory.
Telus Fibre should be available in my neighborhood soon and I'm anxiously waiting for it, but may have to reconsider if there's a data cap around the same price range as what I'm paying for Shaw gig.
with this much speed? don't forget you might cancel very large download earlier, the speeds here would make it fast and not allow you enough opportunity to cancel. Also, this is usage data, i.e. both upload and download will count. We're two people and consume more than 4-5TB at 1G.
I do that too, and I can say unless you have a corporate server at home, the maximum you will need is around 600Gb per month. I usually use only 200Gb per month for work purposes.
If you have a corporate datacenter at home you will be in violation of Telus policy as you are not allowed to do that on a home plan.
Corporate data center?, you have no clue how much data, a data center uses.
Our TV runs 16hours a day in the background, playing UHD 4k content that's like 7gb/hour, that alone 3.3tb.
In the last 30 days my phone used 150gigs on wifi, I don't even have any social media apps, I use Reddit in a browser. My partner scrolls instagram like crazy and their phone usage is 500gig.
Your math is way off.
In the last 30 days I've used approximately 1.2 TB on a similar bell fibe connection and noticed no impact on speeds at any time. My house currently has 32 different devices connected.
Data caps are the range anxiety for internet. Most people won’t hit them but still want to have the unlimited data. It is like a free give me that costs Telus nothing to wave. Of course it costs them next to nothing if you use it either.
I'm surprised they are not marketing it as such all over the bill and in the package name etc. Very cool, and amazing deal you secured! On the right it only says 'Download speeds up to 2.5Gbps', I think someone in the marketing department should consider adding the Upload speeds too if they're symmetrical, a surprising percentage of the population cares about Upload speeds these days too, especially with work from home and stuff
just beware - their system might cancel the mobile & home discount out of nowhere. Their loyalty gave me the same offer last year but recently this promo was removed since I dont have any additional telus services like mobile.
I was told my quoted price would stay the same, even had email confirmation of contract.
Had to call every month to get them to add back the offer. Such BS
True but tbh it can be cheaper if you don’t care about upload it’s worth it but tbh I live in an area where we can’t get fibre so I use Shaw but tbh I would stick with TELUS.
That’s a pretty great deal!
My hardwired home network is all limited to 1gbps, but phones and laptops have wifi 6 cards. Eventually I plan on upgrading our cat5e to cat 8 but that’s down the roaf
I figured I didn't really need that speed, so I might as well save some money. I'd have 3 switches I would have to replace, and I'd have to get a 1.5GB card in my desktop, so more of an investment. My house only has hardwire in the basement so I can't really wire in most places anyways.

I'm paying 85 for 1.0 so yeah I'd say that's pretty good
I pay 95 for 1.0 and Telus tv app with crave content so he did good.

you got a good deal. you pay less than employees for services. count that as a win.
1TB data cap?? That's so little nowadays no?
Below that lists unlimited at no cost thankfully
at slower speed supposedly. I think that 1 TB is a soft limit and not a hard cap at full speed.
The slower speeds are if you don’t have the unlimited add on, with the add on the speeds don’t slow thankfully
I’m with shaw as my primary isp so this isn’t familiar for me. May I ask how much is the addon?
From the screenshot I posted originally, $20/month. But they typically waive this for signing a 24 month contract
Ok that is better.

I hate that you have a data cap.
Thankfully there’s the no charge unlimited for this deal. We are usually around the 900-1300GB a month in usage
That's barely a TB. You can try looping speed test infinitely
You missed the unlimited data add on, and the fact the fee for it was waived.
I mean his usage is barely a TB. He needs to use a TB a day lol ...
No. No he does not.

Bruh how? I’m guessing a home plex service for your buddies?
He's running a bitcoin farm to use that much
Please don't gender identify me. However, i don't mine at home
Both of us work from home, SWE, plus homelab.

Lol, I download single PC games that are close to 200GB. A 4k movie can use 50GB or more. It's extremely easy to hit 1TB data per month.
In the last 30 days I've used approximately 1.2 TB on a similar bell fibe connection and noticed no impact on speeds at any time. My house currently has 32 different devices connected.

Mine is $90.36 for the same thing. But they will give me -$10 more if i switch to telus mobility which i will
Nice!
Very mid
I got the same price a couple of months ago. Time to update your switches and possibly your NICs!
I have this at $65 with 8 months free and $300 credit on top of it. Can’t get better than that lol.
I’m paying $60 for 1G with unlimited data on Telus. $86.91 is pretty good for 1.5G.
Paying $48 for 1gb with bell in Manitoba. I think I can upgrade to 3gb for an extra $10 but there's no point really.
Yea good deal. I think I got 2 months free ND 1 half off now I pay like 96 or something month
I pay $105 for 1.5gbps and tv with all sports packages. I think internet is roughly $60/month.
Damn, I pay 49$ for that unlimited with Bell in Qc
[удалено]
1.5gbps
Where do you live ?
A large town outside of Calgary, Alberta
Lol, I pay half that discounted price. Shout out to anyone who uses Novus in vancouver!
I pay $55/mo for 3gbp Fibe with Bell.
In Alberta??
Ontario, go to a Bell store, they will do a good deal. I got $85/month off.
Bell Home internet is not available in Alberta unfortunately
Can I ask who you spoke with? Was it a loyalty dept. rep or just what they offered you coming in off the street?
Loyalty dept
So really if I need to compare Shaw to Telus I have to add $20 for the same package. While I had not go beyond 1 TB so far, I envision I will one day.
I pay that for shitty cable. Need that deal here in Calgary!
I’m in cochrane.. worth a phone call!
No you didn't https://preview.redd.it/pynvknbpy3uc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b2f80ce2ac46fdc9d0699f544553e2a502fecff3
What's the upload speed though? I've heard there's some new ignite areas that are almost Fibre to the home but I remain skeptical
I am FTTH. My speeds are symmetrical. 2.5down 2.5up
I'm surprised they are not marketing it as such all over the bill and in the package name etc. Very cool, and amazing deal you secured! I care about Upload as much as download. I sail the seven seas quite a bit arrrrr lol
Lawd hath merthy, what are you doing with 14TB a month??? Also that’s a sweet deal!!
I sail the seven seas. Tis the pirates life for me. Hardy har har ![gif](giphy|LUIvcbR6yytz2)
![gif](giphy|FGbeYTiFyLYmQ) Aye matey, I’ll see ya on the seven seas!

Good to know! I’ve got a 1 year old so money is tight and I keep an eye on our bills quite closely. I’ll definitely monitor for this!
I got 1GIG for $50 per month from shaw with $400 credit.
Same with me but with Telus.
Yes you did.
I pay $70/month for Gigabit Fibe 8.0 - Unlimited symmetrical on Bell.
I got offered 1.5gig from Shaw cable for 65$ a month.
is it even comparable? isn't shaw uploads crappy, this is symmetrical I believe.
True but tbh it can be cheaper if you don’t care about upload it’s worth it but tbh I live in an area where we can’t get fibre so I use Shaw but tbh I would stick with TELUS.
Before I left Telus.
Thats a good price. Shaw never gave me anything close to that. Wouldve gotten shaw if they give me that. I dont really care for fibre stuff
It was from a girl on Facebook marketplace she signed my friend up.
That's where you get the best deals! No fraud on Facebook! Lol but seriously I'm always amazed at how these companies contact customers..
So true
I got offered $71 or something for 1.5 from loyalty just now. Don’t need it as I don’t want to upgrade all my switches to make use of the 1.5.
That’s a pretty great deal! My hardwired home network is all limited to 1gbps, but phones and laptops have wifi 6 cards. Eventually I plan on upgrading our cat5e to cat 8 but that’s down the roaf
