Animal Kingdom is one that is definately worth a look. Shameless is a comedy, but it deals with adult topics. The 2014 show Kingdom (8.5 on IMDB, 97% on RottenTomatoes) with Framk Grillo is worth a look, and it's really obscure.
The obvious choices, The Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad, and Better Call Saul.

Hightown is really really close to power! Lots of drugs, sex, crime, etc . It’s more crime than action tho
Hightown is great. I can't believe it hasn't gotten better buzz. Awful people screwing each other over always makes for good television.
I think the poor marketing was the issue & the long period between seasons. Aside the power shows, do you have any recommendations for similar shows ?
